Pop some popcorn and call in sick to work: the Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh began this morning, and you won’t want to miss a single minute of the slanderous action!  It all gets rolling when Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley makes the opening statement, followed by ranking Democrat Dianne Feinstein, and then statements by all 21 of the remaining committee members.

After a lunch break to recuperate from the excitement, at 2:30 p.m., Sen. Rob Portman, Condoleezza Rice and Supreme Court lawyer Lisa Blatt will each make statements introducing Kavanaugh, who will finally get to say something just before the committee adjourns for the day.  The questioning doesn’t get underway until tomorrow.

OUR TOP STORY:  Of funerals and forgiveness: recall that McCain gave Trump "dossier" to the FBI

Ken Klukowski at reports that the Senators have been supplied with 12 years’ worth of Kavanaugh’s DC Court of appeals opinions, running about 10,000 pages; over 100 pages of written answers to their questions with 17,000 pages of attachments, and over 400,000 pages so far of “additional document pages associated with Kavanaugh from his years of public service.”  Yet Democrats still complain that they haven’t been supplied with enough documents!  Do you seriously believe any of them  have even made a dent on reading the documents they have?  The Affordable Care Act was only a couple of thousand pages, and they had to pass that without reading it to find out what was in it.

Just spend two minutes reading over Kavanaugh’s resume, and you’ll see that he’s one of the most staggeringly well-qualified people ever nominated to the Court.  Yet outside the Senate, protesters who know nothing about him (and who apparently don’t even have jobs to go to on a Tuesday morning) are carrying signs vilifying him, while inside, his qualifications for his job will be attacked by people whose qualifications for their own jobs are virtually nonexistent.

This is how we vet Supreme Court Justices now.  I credit the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, who made the name “Bork” into a verb.

You are right on Mr. Huckabee regarding the issue of the Democrats wanting more reports than they already have. Not only did they not the affordable care act but it was mentioned that they had to lie inorder to pass it. Such integrity!! I was appalled this morning when I started watching the hearing, the Democrats just don 't quit. Mr. Kavanaugh seems to me that he has very high qualifications for the position including "common sense", I have been praying for him and this hurting nation. thank you for your site.

Mike, I can't believe what utter lies, hatred, and pure BS is coming out of Blumenthal's mouth! Can you? it's disgusting. What a vile, spiteful person. HRC lost but he (and I'm sure many others) is warning Judge Kavanaugh to side with the liberal far left. I could feel the hatred he has for #POTUS and his administration. Well, I love our President, he's giving back to the people what we all deserve. he is getting rid of the swamp rats like this one. Drain the swamp! Have you noticed that everyone who speaks out against our President is taken out? That's our Good Lord, He sets up kings, he chose Trump for such a time as this and he's done with these pompous, arrogant, prideful, lying, cheating, (many are pedophiles) men and women who say what's bad is now good and what's good is now bad. He's done with it all. Hallelujah

Too bad some of the democrats in the senate are so childish. How the heck did they get a position of responsibility? They wouldn't have gotten away with their behaviour in their own family--momma would have smacked them down, daddy would have taken them to the woodshed. Interesting note from Mark Steyne--the congress people don't even formulate their own questions--there are many staffers showing up with crib notes with questions. There was also a quote from their own liberal (don't know if was a socialist or liberal or democrat at the time) who said during a confirmation hearing that the person should not be judged on anything except their policies--it's not right to attack the person. Democrats should do well to listen to one of their own leaders--of course, it could come under their mantra that--you can't hold a person for s/he said or did years past (that is, if you are a democrat, conservatives have to toe the line for whether or not they spit their pureed peas at momma when they were babies.) I saw a very small snippet--with feinstein sitting high on her throne, making remarks in a condescending tone. And, I hear the paid protesters (who have no clue WHO this man is, or what position he being confirmed for, or even that this is a confirmation hearing) are on hand. Loud and proud, it would seem.
