When you pass through the waters,

I will be with you;

and when you pass through the rivers,

they will not sweep over you.

When you walk through the fire,

you will not be burned;

the flames will not set you ablaze.

Sussmann trial update

UPDATE Tuesday, noon ET: In breaking news, the O.J. --- I mean, Michael Sussmann --- jury has already come in with their verdict. Care to wager? Well, it's not guilty, of course. A full report and commentary tomorrow.

When asked after court adjourned what he was planning to do now, Sussmann said he was dedicating the rest of his life to finding the real liar. Kidding.

New Podcast Episode

I also want to highlight my most recent People's Podcast, where I reflect on the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX that took the lives of 19 children and 2 teachers so far. Then, I have a conversation with Israeli philosopher and Chairman of the Edmund Burke Foundation Yoram Hazony on his new book Conservatism: A Rediscovery, and how future generations might just save our beloved philosophy.

A Friday news drop

Here’s the kind of story that somehow tends to get released on late Fridays of holiday weekends when nobody will notice it: an internal State Department document proves that, just as many of us suspected and said so at the time, John Kerry and other former Obama officials were secretly meeting in 2018 with Iranian officials, continuing to conduct their own US foreign policy.

Some of the topics they discussed included “nuclear weapons, potential prisoner swaps, [the] Afghanistan withdrawal and negotiations with the Taliban.” While President Trump was deciding on sanctions and trying to extricate us from their bad Iranian nuclear deal, they were acting as if they were still in office, trying to preserve it by conducting their own US foreign policy and signaling that Iran should stand firm against America and the policies of the actual elected President.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the former Obama officials “working against their own nation’s policies alongside such a brutal regime” was “bad stuff, dangerous stuff, un-American stuff,” and that they “should be ashamed of themselves.”

Actually, it's far worse. They were illegally conducting US foreign policy with a hostile nation in an attempt to undermine the official foreign policy of the elected President. To accurately use terms that Democrats love to throw at their political opponents, it was sedition and insurrection, possibly treason, and at the very least, a clear violation of the Logan Act that they’re always trying to pin on other people.

Between current National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan’s alleged role in launching the groundless Russian Collusion investigation and “climate czar” Kerry’s illegal attempts to conduct secret negotiations with Iran, exactly how many treasonous individuals are currently on the Biden Administration payroll?

Over the weekend, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul Pelosi was charged with DUI in Napa, California, after he reportedly crashed his Porsche into a Jeep while driving home from a party. Nobody was injured, and his attorney denied a report that it was a second offense, claiming the earlier DUI was someone else with the same name.

A spokesman for Nancy Pelosi said, "The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast."

Nice job of distancing herself from her husband by a continent. I have a feeling their house will be as frosty as her two luxury refrigerators when she returns home.

I could do an essay about how Nancy holds her political opponents to the strictest standards and wants to send them to jail for any offense, real or imagined. But since there could be personal issues at play here with her husband, I’m not going to pile on, at least not yet. However, I will turn the floor over to one of my writers, Pat Reeder, for a rebuttal of her brief statement:

“The reason I never knew my grandfather, and why my late father was never able to attend college, is that a drunk driver killed my grandfather when my dad was in high school. He had to immediately go into the Army, then to work to support his mother and younger brother. Because of that drunk driver, I was the first person in our family to be able to attend college. So please don’t tell me that DUI is a ‘private matter.’ It’s a matter of public safety that can have massive repercussions for innocent people. A car with a drunk at the wheel is just as deadly a weapon as a gun. I’d like to see you pretend to be just as concerned about the former as the latter.:”

Canadian PM Trudeau channels Fidel Castro’s philosophy

Americans can take some comfort in knowing that despite the left’s assaults on the Second Amendment, it still stands. They should be glad that it does if they look northward to Canada where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is attempting to prove that he is at least the philosophical offspring of Fidel Castro by putting a “national freeze” on handgun ownership. Trudeau is introducing legislation to make it no longer “possible to buy, sell, transfer, or import handguns anywhere in Canada.” He also declared that long gun magazines will no longer be allowed to hold more than five rounds. He declared, “Other than using firearms for sport shooting and hunting, there is no reason anyone in Canada should need guns in their everyday lives.”

This from the same leader who just crushed a peaceful protest of his policies by arresting and jailing truckers, seizing their property and destroying their businesses. Also the same liberals who are cheering on the Ukrainians who are only able to resist Russian aggression because they have personal firearms. But then, there’s no need to worry about the people ever being oppressed by a dictatorial government that takes away their rights. That could never happen in Canada, eh?

Biden Brain clean-up

To clean up some of President Biden’s other baffling public statements over the weekend: No, in spite of what he told a graduating class of Naval Cadets at Annapolis, there’s no evidence that he applied there in 1965, which was the year he graduated from the University of Delaware. The Naval Academy doesn’t offer graduate degrees.

Also, “Findalize” appears to be a word he made up when he meant to say “Findlandize,” referring to Putin attempting to make all of Europe a neutral buffer zone, like Finland.

While Democrats are railing that the only way to stop school shootings is to double down on their policies, cities where they’ve been in charge for years suffer the equivalent of a Uvalde mass shooting every week. In Chicago alone over Memorial Day weekend, 52 people were shot and 10 killed. A Chicago 911 dispatcher told Fox News that it’s due to the city’s soft-on-crime policies and said, “This nonsense has got to stop” and that nothing is going to change until the leadership changes course and brings back accountability.

Or they could just pass some more gun laws. Keeping law-abiding citizens disarmed seems to be working.

Secret revealed

Hollywood has finally discovered the secret of making a new hit movie: make a rousing, crowd-pleasing, pro-American, patriotic movie with a real movie star, real aerial stunts instead of phony CGI, and no woke virtue signalling.

Oh, and it would help if when China’s communist government tries to dictate what it’s allowed to include, tell them to go pound sand.

Regarding Mr. Pelosi: once again the Democrat Party, and Nancy Pelosi in particular, appears to take a soft-on-crime stance, giving get-out-of-jail-free cards to "the rich" and "the elites."

My daughter and my grandson's mother and another girl that I didn't know were killed by a drunk driver in 1988. It was the sixth or seventh DUI for the guy. All he got out of it was a broken leg a 5 years in prison. Being that this was in Illinois he was probably out in 3 months. It still hurts every day and I remember well the very last thing my daughter said to me. I don't blame the booze or the car he passed out in to hit them head on on a country road, I blame the guy that was driving and the state of Illinois for not doing something sooner. It's not just famous people that get away with drunk driving.

Sussman, Kerry and on and on and on.... the corruption is never ending. Sussman doesn't have to go very far to find the real liar.

Can't Durham appeal the Sussmann trial verdict because of the biased Judge and his actions?

  • Anne Turner

    06/01/2022 12:01 AM

Any prosecutions that Durham puts forth having to do with anything associated with Hilary, etal. will be a lesson in futility if tried in DC. The DNC is sacrosanct. Obviously the jury in this case did not do what is required. They must have been really bored listening to all of the testimony since they had made up their minds before hearing even the charges as in nothing they said would make them find this person guilty. Furthermore, Trump deserved everything that came to him because he is so evil. Obviously, this judge does not really want to judge, just to help the left achieve their goals. I can see the headlines in the media. Jury acquits Sussman! Victory for Hilary and the DNC. The tragedy is that even if the jury succumbed to their bias, the journalists know the truth. They don't care. Journalism used to be an honorable profession, but it is no longer. It is sad how many just want to be mouthpieces for others. Character used to mean something.
