You have to give Donald Trump Jr. credit: it takes a lot these days to turn “The View” into “must-see TV,” but he managed it. Don waded into the lionesses’ den with guns blazing, faced the expected barrage of shrill anti-Trump talking points, and shot them down so effectively that even that show’s studio audience occasionally applauded. Joy Behar was so discombobulated at hearing her reliably leftwing cheering section applaud a (gasp!) Trump that she turned on her own audience, snapping at them, “This is NOT a MAGA rally!”
it once again proves that the motto of today’s tolerant left should be Ring Lardner’s immortal quote, “’Shut up,’ he explained.”
The hosts’ attempts to drag up old and often misleading charges about Trump’s dad prompted him to point out that they have things in their backgrounds that they might regret, too, like the time Joy Behar wore blackface makeup to a Halloween party. Behar denied it, prompting Don Jr. to later tweet video of her talking about it, along with a photo.
Whoopi Goldberg, whom I love personally, tried to defend her co-host by insisting that “I know blackface when I see it, and that was not blackface,” but that went over about as well as the “not ‘rape’ rape” rationale. People have started to see through the hypocrisy of excusing blackface (sorry, “brownface” or “dark makeup”) when worn by liberals like Behar, Ralph Northam or Justin Trudeau while crucifying Republicans as racists if they put on too much self-tanner.
Here’s the full show, for those who might want to bookmark it to watch over and over:
Here’s Don Jr. with his own post-mortem: “I don’t think they like me much anymore.”
And as a capper, “Will & Grace” star Debra “Identify Trump supporters so we can blackball them” Messing perfectly illustrated the Hollywood left’s tolerance by scolding “The View” on Twitter for allowing someone she vilifies to actually defend himself and his family. For those of you who wonder why I say I love Whoopi despite our diametrically-opposed political views, this story includes a quote from her that might explain it.
If you’re old even to remember the ‘70s, you probably wish you didn’t remember the song, “Feelings” by Morris Albert. It was a hit, then an earworm, then a punch line as the most irritating, uncool song of all time. I hadn’t thought of it in years, but after listening to the “testimony” leaking or being released from Adam Schiff’s impeachment side show, now I can’t get it out of my head, because instead of actual evidence of wrongdoing by the President, all we keep getting is “feelings...nothing more than feeelings…”
As Laura Ingraham of Fox News noted, the testimony of one “witness” included the words “feel,” “felt” or “emotion” a total of 43 times. I put “witness” in quotations because virtually none of these people actually “witnessed” anything. To quote another hits from the ‘80s, they “heard it from a friend who...heard it from a friend who...heard it from another you been messin’ around…”
I know my readers expect us to keep up with all the latest...let’s generously call them “developments”...in the Democrats’ feverish attempts to turn a phone call into a felony, and trust us, we do. We’re just concerned that actually relating all the boring, pointless details every day will drive you away because it’s turning out to be so much ado about nothing.
So here’s what I’m going to do: I will give you my personal assurance that so far, I’ve heard or read nothing whatsoever that supports the idea that President Trump tried to us US aid to blackmail Ukraine into investigating Joe Biden because he thought he was such a threat to him in 2020 (side note: latest polling has Biden coming in fourth in Iowa...
...And this won’t help.)
What we’ve heard instead is that there were a lot of longtime DC insiders still lurking around the White House who think Trump is awful because he isn’t conducting foreign policy the way they think it should be conducted (as if they have any sort of record to point to with pride), and by the way, some were actively plotting a “coup” to remove him and coordinating their testimony with his Democratic opponents who are now running the hearings. (Here’s the latest on that, if you’re interested.)
This is being cheered on by a biased media that are falsely framing this nothingburger “testimony” as “devastating” to Trump and claiming Trump is “lying” when he expresses an opinion they disagree with or depicts his phone call to the President of Ukraine in a way that reflects the transcript he declassified instead of the thirdhand rumors floating around about it.
I also give you my word that if I hear any actual evidence of offenses warranting the removal from office of anyone other than Adam Schiff, I will tell you all about it. In the meantime, if you really want a blow-by-blow of what’s happened most recently, and why it adds up to the biggest load of nothing since “Seinfeld” went off the air, I suggest this lengthy post from the Bookworm blog in which the author, an attorney, goes through the Washington Post’s anti-Trump coverage of this yarn detail-by-detail and disembowels it.
Speaking of the partisan cluelessness of the Washington Post editors, with the 2020 elections looming, it’s time for them to once again start publicly fretting about how horrible it might be if Trump and the Republicans lose and refuse to accept the will of the people as reflected by the election. My question: is it comfortable under that rock where they’ve been living for the past three years?
It’s disappointing but hardly surprising that a federal judge in New York struck down the Trump Administration’s latest rule protecting health care professionals from being forced to perform or refer patients for abortions, sterilizations or medically-assisted suicides if it violated their religious beliefs. This is one of several challenges to the rule that defends basic religious liberty. The sooner it gets to the Supreme Court, the better, and let’s all pray that the SCOTUS understands that the First Amendment was listed first for a reason, while the “rights” to abortion and suicide weren’t included by the Founders at all.
The New York Times has been reduced to saying anything if it will sell papers to “woke” leftists who hate Western culture, and here’s evidence that they’ve done it so many times, they’re running out of things to attack and ban: their “art critic” jusOt compared the Mona Lisa to Kim Kardashian and demanded that the Louvre get rid of it. The Times is cranking out so much leftwing nonsense these days that it might be time to change their nickname to “the paper of broken record.”
Cool video: I’m a dog lover, but even I have to admit, this is a pretty cool cat.
Jim Treacher reports that the latest climate-destroyers in the crosshairs of the radical greens are those selfish asthmatics who insist on continuing to breathe by using metered dose inhalers that emit the greenhouse gas, methane.
Of course, the general message from the radical environmental leftists has long been, “If you cared about the Earth, you’d stop breathing!” But this is the first time they’ve made it explicit.
On this topic, I’ll say the same thing I say whenever they demand that we stop flying, eating tasty foods, having children or doing any one of a thousand or more things that make life convenient, fun, fulfilling or even tolerable: “You go first.” After all, environmentalists breathe in oxygen and exhale CO2, so by their own reasoning, they are destroying the Earth with every breath they take. When they stop breathing first, they can ask the rest of us to stop breathing. But I warn them: that won’t be easy after they stop breathing.
Just in case you needed another reason not to make Elizabeth Warren President, here’s a detailed explanation of why all her claims for how she will pay for “Medicare For All” are “100% fairy dust.”
