Shock therapy

Sarah Hoyt explains why it's vital to get out and vote Republican today for the sake of you, America, and the Democrats: they desperately need shock therapy.

Must-Read Column

If you really need any more reasons at this late date to get up, get out and vote – or you’re in a long voting line and have finished reading my newsletter – then check out this, by Roger Simon: “This Tuesday, America Takes An IQ Test.”

Senate report details eye-opening

I told you about the woman who sent Congress a letter accusing Justice Brett Kananaugh of raping her repeatedly in a car, and then admitted it was all a lie, she’d never met him, and she just did it to get attention and as a tactic to kill his confirmation.  Well, there’s now more news from the “Believe All Women” desk about that whole ugly wallow in the mud during what should have been the most serious of government proceedings.

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee have released an exhaustive, 414-page report on the investigation of the last-minute sexual allegations against Kavanaugh.  Aside from that most recent revelation, it also contains more details that might lead someone who had access to all the information the Committee had to have “reasonable doubt.”  If any of those who are still filling social media with rants about a “rapist” being on the Supreme Court have even one molecule of fairness left in their hearts, then they should read this and do some soul-searching about what they allowed politics to do to their sense of decency (there’s a link to the full report in this recap).

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/senate-report-reveals-mans-encounter-with-ford-that-fits-her-allegations-against-kavanaugh

The report reveals that Committee investigators interviewed 45 people in person and took 25 written statements relating to the various allegations, and they found no evidence that any of them were true.  Much of this information has not been made public until now.  Here’s what it includes:

On the possibility of mistaken identity, two men came forward who thought they might actually be the person Dr. Christine Blasey Ford described as assaulting her at a teenage party.  One said he was a college student at that time, and he attended a party at a house in the same area where he made out with a girl in a bedroom.  She was wearing a swimsuit under her clothes, and the encounter ended when a friend jokingly dived onto the two of them.  The other man described a similar incident and said the girl he was with looked just like Ford in her high school photos.  Both claimed the encounters were consensual.

Another man who attended college with Ford claimed she had a “robust and active” social life and showed none of the traumatic effects she claimed, such as inability to make friends or fear of being in a room with only one door.

Dr. Ford’s female friend and purported witness, Leland Keyser, who denied remembering any such party or ever meeting Kavanaugh, claimed she was contacted by Ford friend Monica McLean, a former FBI employee, and others who pressured her to “clarify” her story.  The Committee is still investigating whether this was attempted witness tampering.

As to the claim by Deborah Ramirez that Ford exposed himself to her at a frat party (she admitted being drunk and couldn’t verify it was really him until after she spent a week talking to a Democratic lawyer), a fellow Yale alum came forward and said that was another member of Kavanaugh’s fraternity who was also in Ramirez’s college.  He said he saw that frat bro expose himself at a party, he had a reputation for doing that, and he even provided a yearbook photo of the guy exposing himself (Note to Yale: get better yearbook editors.)

Finally, the report refers four people to the Justice Department for possible charges of willfully trying to mislead Congress.  They are the woman who admitted lying about being raped in a car; a Rhode Island man who recanted an allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted a woman on a boat in Newport in 1985; and sleazy lawyer Michael Avenatti and his client Julie Swetnick, who made the claim that Kavanaugh took part in drugging and gang-raping girls at parties in high school, a claim for which investigators found zero evidence. Her alleged corroborating witness denied the story and said she and Swetnick didn’t become friends until their 30s.

In perhaps the most obvious “takes one to know one” reaction of all time, Avenetti slammed the report as “garbage.”  He declared, “There is no evidence my client or I did anything wrong.”

Wait, so now, he’s saying you need evidence before declaring someone guilty of wrongdoing?  When did we switch back to Americans having due process rights, sometime around Halloween?  Or do those only apply to the left side of the aisle now?

Crickets

Ever since Donald Trump began running for President, Democrats have accused him of not publicly denouncing white supremacists and anti-Semites, even though he has done so repeatedly and in the strongest terms.  So I’m wondering how many Democrats will rush to the nearest TV cameras, shove Adam Schiff aside, and denounce the Rev. Louis Farrakhan?  He went to Iran over the weekend, where he led chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” and stood with Iran’s Mullahs in defying US sanctions to stop their nuclear ambitions.

This story notes that to his credit, New York Democratic Rep. Gregory Meeks publicly denounced Farrakhan last spring.  Anyone any higher than that have anything to say?  Like maybe Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, recently photographed with Farrakhan at Aretha Franklin’s funeral?  Or Barack Obama and members of the Congressional Black Caucus, who met with him in 2005, even though the media suppressed the photo of them together for 13 years?

I’m listening for the outraged denunciations from the left over Farrakhan’s virulent anti-Semitism.  So far, I’m mostly just hearing crickets.

Facebook strikes again

Just 24 hours before the election, Facebook gave us yet another reason to vote Republican as if your right to free speech depended on it.  Because if Democrats take over Congress, do you think they’ll do anything to stop this kind of outrageous censorship of conservatives?  I suspect they won’t be too bothered by this kind of online attempt to interfere with the election.

On "Face Book Strikes Again": This will be difficult for Democrats - it is to their advantage, but at the same time, they are so fond of government control. Thank you for being a voice of reason in a sometimes-confusing and anger-driven society. I read your newsletters every day.

I am especially upset by the article concerning Farrakhan. I live in West Monroe, LA. The mayor across the river in Monroe, LA received a visit from Farrakhan recently and honored him by giving Farrakhan the “keys” to the city. It was not received well by our two cities. I find it hard to believe this happened here but I’m seeing more and more how real “evil” is right here in our faces. Very concerning! Thank you so much for giving us honest news and your take on it everyday! Your faithful reader, Brenda Wagoner
