One of the inexplicably major stories of the day is President Trump rescinding a White House invitation to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. It’s being treated by the media as if it’s some sort of major diplomatic incident far outweighing the North Korean nuclear summit, but I’m trying without much luck to work up a good “who cares” over it.

It’s a high honor to be invited to the White House by the President, but only a small number of players planned to go because Trump has criticized the NFL for allowing players to pull protests that show disrespect for the flag and the National Anthem. Also because it’s somehow required of everyone in any field of sports or show business to show contempt for the duly-elected (sorry!) President of the United States or else have mobs of leftists with way too much time on their hands say mean things about them on Twitter. So if they can’t respond to the honor of being invited to the White House by accepting graciously like patriotic adult Americans, then too bad, so sad, sayonara.

The only part of this whole kerfuffle that I think really deserves some publicity is the part that’s getting no publicity, naturally, and that’s what Trump decided to do instead of honoring football players. He’ll be honoring some other people in uniform who don’t have a problem with showing respect for the flag. The story is at the link.

Incidentally, I find it ironic that the Eagles' most prominent protester listed the "social injustices" that he's protesting, and they include "wages and job opportunities." Don't look now, but that under that President you refuse to be seen with, wages are finally going up and unemployment rates, including those for minorities, are at or near record lows. In short, he's doing a lot more to help minority workers than you are by raising your fist during the National Anthem.

I last watched a football game on January 1, 1967, because it bored me out of my mind! And that was before me-me-look-at-me Joe Namath became a left wing media darling, and before the racist ghetto thugs took over. The President has better things to do than invite NFL and NBA teams to the White House. I am gratified that MLB keeps out the likes of them. The Houston Astros were gracious. One player declined the invitation because he had retired, and another declined because he was attending spring training with another team, but the other players attended. Three sports seasons for me . . . the MLB season, the MLB post-season and the off-season. Sports junkies - boycott the NFL and the NBA. Take a stand while those overpaid racists take a knee!

You are so right. This was not some major policy-affecting event! This was just an opportunity for a visit to the White House , an opportunity which most don't get in their lifetime. I believe they thought they were holding all the "cards", so to speak! It reminds me in so many ways of parenting my children back in the day ......offer something, they become stubborn, shrug your shoulders and take it away, and suddenly they're offended!!
Even more embarrassing is the way the WH press acts in front of my favorite press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders! ! She has so much resolve, listening to idiotic questions day after day! She's the best??

All I can say is BRAVO to your comments,.... I fully agree with your take! I've stopped watching professional football, and basketball during the last few years, because of the insidious-ideas,.. and moral-poison being proferred by the media (like espn, cnn, etc.),.. and the so-called 'stars' of these children's games--- who behave like spoiled, ignorant children when it comes to the IMPORTANT issues. These guys just no longer deserve respect. They are simply puppets of LEFTIST-GUILT-IDEOLOGY,... and have no understanding of prinicples of truth of the Bible! Their MORAL-CONFUSION only exacerbates the disrepaired 'Emotionalism' that has become the blind-guide of American and Western popular-culture,.... the wide-road that leads to destruction,... and the 'ROOT' of bitterness-and-envy that paves that road. It seemed there was a time in the past when sports offered a 'better' alternative to dark, foolish, and criminal views,..... now much of what is called 'sport' is carrying the FALSE ideas, and narratives of the LEFT (which wholly represents the spirit-of-Anti-Christ),.... glorifying 'human-wisdom and strength', while demeaning and opposing God's timeless-truth-love, mercy and Grace in Jesus Christ.

The kneeling players have ruined the NFL for me forever. It's such s shame that instead of being roll models for young people, they are showing them how to be unpatriotic to the most wonderful country on earth and how to be incredibly rude and disrespectful to the President of the United States of America. The lessons unfortunately will carry over to other aspects of their lives. I'll stick with college teams. Boomer Sooner!

It seems like "UNsportsmanlike activity" all the way around - President Trump and the Eagles.

I LOVE the transparency, but I'd like to see all of us apply a filter to our ears and our lips. Choose your battles. These teams have little to fear - at least not at their level - even though the press is going to come after them.

The truth will set you free.

If the Eagles can't accept an invitation to the White House as the high honor that it is, they should RESPECTFULLY decline and hopefully say no more. Do it in the right manner.

I personally don't get the whole spectator sports world anyway- (not to mention Hollywood). You pay for a high dollar ticket to sit in an uncomfortable seat in a stadium to hear the folks around you use bad language and shout in your ears.

President Trump should graciously accept the Eagles' choice to decline his invitation and LET IT GO.

Everyone, "Put on your BIG BOY Pants."

All the country needs to know is that an invitation was extended and the Eagles declined. Let the press make of it what they will. Let the manager/owner be the ONLY PRESS spokesperson for his/her team. After that, any comments by team players is deemed inappropriate per their contract or however management chooses to enforce it.

I am SO tired of this "bowing the knee" scenario. What makes anyone value more highly the opinion of a sports figure or movie star, anyway? Their big boy pants go on the say way as everyone.

    (My first tweet. )

Always look forward to seeing and hearing from you on Fox News.
Am also praying that you are one of the President's spiritual advisors - you're the best!)
    Keep praying!

Thank you for sharing the whole story. You nailed it with “who cares” if a bunch of over paid, over grown little boys want the honor and privilege of meeting with our strong, wise and gracious President Trump. God bless, protect and guide him daily as he presses for the mark of bringing righteousness, honor and pride back to America and bless you for speaking the truth- the whole truth ??????????????????????????????????????????
