Nancy Pelosi and Debbie Wasserman Schultz are continuing to do the RNC’s work for them by doubling-down on their scorn for those “pathetic” “crumbs” of raises, bonuses and benefits that workers at many companies are receiving, thanks to the GOP tax cut. Maybe to Nancy Pelosi, who could probably buy a Lamborghini with the loose cash between her sofa cushions, a few extra dollars per hour, a $1000 bonus and a tax refund are chump change. But to most working Americans, they are a long-overdue godsend. And they will help create even more jobs when the money is spent.
However, as infuriatingly Marie Antoinette-like as the Democratic leaders are, I try hard to find common ground. So I found this: Rep. Wasserman Schultz told a Florida town hall crowd, “I haven’t heard of a corporate bonus more than $1,000 so far…Which by the way is taxed, so it’s not $1,000.”
I can only assume from that quote that she’s saying taxes are still too high, and that a worker who gets a $1000 bonus should be able to keep more of it, because he or she will spend it a lot more wisely than the government would. Finally, something that Rep. Wasserman Schultz and I are in complete agreement on!
