Senate Democrats sink lower

September 14, 2018

In an act of embarrassing political theater that makes Cory Booker’s “I am Spartacus” self-immolation look like the Gettysburg Address, Democratic Sen. Diane Feinstein produced a letter about some alleged mysterious shocking thing in the background of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh – but she can’t let anyone see what it says.  It calls to mind the moment in every melodramatic Hollywood movie about McCarthyism (back when the left didn’t approve of and practice it) in which an unscrupulous Senator tries to slander someone by waving a sealed envelope that he claims contains the names of a dozen close associates of the target who are “communists!” but he cannot reveal them for national security reasons.

Of course, today, being accused of being a communist might actually earn Kavanaugh a few votes from the Democrats. But in this case, Feinstein not only didn’t tell the Republicans on the committee about the letter, she didn’t share it with the Democrats either (my theory is that it’s a big nothing, but she knew if she told the Democrats, one of them would have leaked it by now – I’m looking at you, Sen. Booker.)  Instead, after using it to tar Kavanaugh’s reputation with a vague, unknown accusation of…something, she claims she gave it to the FBI for further investigation.  The FBI reportedly dismissed it and passed it to the White House to put in Kavanaugh’s background folder, which is standard operating procedure.

We don’t know what’s in the letter other than via media rumors.  It’s reportedly not even written by the person allegedly involved, but by someone who claims to have heard the story (in other words, it’s useless hearsay from nearly 40 years ago) that supposedly involves an incident that dates back to when Kavanaugh was in high school.

By some accounts, it involves him having a sexual relationship with a girl (we know how opposed Democrats are to teenagers doing that), while another rumor says it’s about him and another teen boy locking a girl in a room at a party as a prank, but she got out. How can we allow this monster to walk among us?

I’m sure glad nobody’s holding me accountable today for every dumb thing I did in high school (I can only imagine how my career would have suffered if the public knew that I once took a date to a Mexican restaurant and stole a bite of her enchilada when she was in the ladies’ room.)  And can you imagine the idiotic stunts some of those Senators pulled in high school, considering the stunts they’re still pulling now?  I don’t see how doing childish things when you’re a child disqualifies you for the Supreme Court when doing childish things as an adult obviously doesn’t disqualify you for the Senate.

Sen. Feinstein should be ashamed of herself for pulling such a transparent, desperate, last-minute smear job, as should any so-called “journalistic” outlet that enables her by repeating this as anything other than a premise for ridicule.

Doesn't Feinstein's stunt remind people in Montana of Tester's stunt when Jackson was a nominee? People who bear false witness and slander are disliked by most people. Testers chances of being re-elected senator are now slim. I find the behavior of the democrats incomprehensible.

I think, after watching the disgusting action by the members of the judiciary committee, that it is time for a constitutional convention of the states to enact terms limits on senators and representatives. I believe twelve years of public service should be more than ample; two six year terms for the senate and six two year terms as a representative. Once you have completed the twelve years you can no longer hold a political position in the government. The President is limited to two four year terms so why is it senators and representatives can remain in their positions for decades? It is time for a change!

I remember the Clarence Thomas debacle. At the time I wrote my Senator Helms a letter expressing my disgust at that circus. His response included the phrase: " I pray our Senate never again humiliates itself with such a display...."
Senator Helms would be shocked and dismayed that yes, the Senate has found a new low.
Dianne Feinstein should be forced to resign immediately, instead she will be applauded. She will be the heroine of the left and probably have a building named after her.
I love our President and thank God every day he is President and she is not. We need to do all we can to make sure that we have a Red wave in November.
Thank you for all you do and your daughter is amazing,

I have found a lot of people just can't help being a fool. Folks loke her just seem to have a natural inclination for it.
