The dems look dumb in that, they were screaming meddling, collusion, etc. in the2016 election, had their own investigations (cough, cough) and the President actually acted correctly in continuing real investigations into meddling and collusion. Of course, we know this would be a REAL investigation, not the same as the witch hunt perpetrated by the dems--who are afraid of a real investigation because it is exposing all the corruption, meddling and manipulation by those in their own party.

As for some of the testimony even of people at cabinet meetings--perhaps none of them are aware of what goes on in meetings--whether the board of a hospital, or a lawyer firm, or of any organization--even meetings of managers, etc in said organizations. "This situation has come up, or has a potential to, so how would we handled it?" Then, there are suggestions from probably every board member or manager. These suggestions are bandied around--pros and cons of each suggestion, more discussion, and then a decision. There are bound to be those whose suggestions were discarded who probably still think THEIR suggestion was the best, and not happy it was not used. And, even the suggestion of the chief of the board might be discarded. I would imagine this is how a cabinet meeting in the White House would go. When discussing suggestions, I am sure there are those who would convince the President that his suggestion would not be appropriate--and why. Just because he suggested something, does not mean that, after discussing and clarifying issues, he would agree that his suggestion should be discarded.

As for all the garbage about the ambassador being fired. In the real world (which it seems many congressmen have never been in) if you are part of management (for sake of an analogy) and you do not agree with the mission and vision of management, and especially if you spend time dissing your boss, telling your subordinates and co-workers to not comply with the policies set out--you are fired!!! And, in the change of every administration for as long as I remember (at least 1980) the new President released some ambassadors, cabinet members, etc. I don't recall any outrage when other Presidents did this, but you'd think President Trump was the first one to do so.

Why do Senators, that are candidates for President and oppose the accused, get to sit in judgement of him? They should recuse themselves or have it done for them. Conflict of interest.

I was disappointed to say the least that they cut short the conclusion of the trial.
Do they not think that this is important. While I know points were made, we are talking about an impeachment to convict.
