There was a recent survey of atheists and agnostics in Great Britain that revealed something startling. It found that just as some religious people struggle with maintaining their faith, so do many non-believers struggle with maintaining their lack of faith, particularly when faced with unanswerable questions about life, evolution and the universe.

This really shouldn’t come as a surprise. While atheists in recent years have become more strident and “in-your-face” (probably because they can band together on the Internet in atheist bubbles), it’s long been obvious to anyone with an understanding of theology that atheism is a form of religion.

For all the atheists’ talk about how irrational it is to make a “leap of faith” and believe in God with no hard empirical evidence, it takes just as much faith to decide emphatically that there is no God. They must know that it’s impossible to prove a negative. I’m sure this nagging doubt about their lack of faith must trouble them. But who knows? Maybe it’s the doorway through which they will one day find genuine faith.

After all, the Lord works in mysterious ways.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

The Jones Act

By Mike Huckabee

President Trump has waived the Jones Act for Puerto Rico, and about time. It requires that shipments from US ports be carried only on America-owned and built ships. That’s all well and good, but Puerto Rico desperately needs supplies right now, and this law was preventing that. In terms of “we’re from the government and we’re here to help you” stories, it ranks right up there with the Florida police who ordered the owner of a food truck to stop giving free meals to utility workers trying to restore power after the hurricane because he didn’t have a city permit. Yes, that actually happened.

The cost of illegal immigration

By Mike Huckabee

We’re always hearing how illegal immigrants are not a burden on the economy; that they contribute so much that it results in a net gain. A new study by the Federation For American Immigration Reform argues otherwise. They put the cost of illegal immigration for state, local and federal governments at around $135 billion a year.

"From Islam to Christ"

By Mike Huckabee

There’s a fascinating new book out called “From Islam to Christ” by Derya Little (a pseudonym). The author now lives in the US, but she started life in Turkey. The book describes how she went from being a Muslim as a little girl to an atheist and now a Catholic. She also reveals what children are taught in Muslim schools in Turkey, not only about Islam but also about Christians. It’s very eye-opening.

Trump tries to help

By Mike Huckabee

With the GOP Senate seemingly powerless to keep their promise to repeal and replace Obamacare, President Trump is looking into using executive orders to try to help Americans who are caught in the vice it’s created of limited options and spiraling premiums. His first move will likely be one of the most basic market reforms that Congress should have passed before they ever even forced Obamacare onto us. Were they paralyzed back then, too?

What can we do to force the legislators to be covered by the same insurance as the general public? I truly believe the Obamacare fiasco would soon be over if we all had to abide by the same availability of insurance. Could this be accomplished by an Executive Order? I have no doubt the general population would be behind this move 100%!!

Hi Mike, you are an excellent writer, with quite a gift for articulating subtle political points with flair and common sense. I remember Dick Morris noting about 10 years ago your "Reaganesque" ability turn a phrase, and I've found that to be true ever since. I particularly like your Christian values (I'm a conservative pro-life Catholic). I have a local cable TV show and I've often commented that many protestants are better Catholics than many (Pelosi, Biden type of sorry excuse for) Catholics, and I mentioned on my show that you are the poster child for that (good Catholic-like protestants). On another note, you may have a typo in one of your recent articles "...help Americans who are caught in the vice it's created..." you probably meant "vise", as in the device that squeezes, no? Or did you intend a double meaning?
    God bless, James
