The Archbishop of San Francisco wants to make it clear that his decision to bar self-proclaimed devout Catholic Nancy Pelosi from taking Holy Communions due to her abortion views was not in response to the recent leak of the Roe v. Wade draft decision. He said he’s tried to talk to her about this for a long time and debated it in his conscience for years. But he finally had to draw the line because “more recently, her advocacy for codifying the Roe decision into federal law—it’s becoming more and more extreme and more and more aggressive."

Why, how is this possible? I’ve been assured by experts that it’s the Republicans who’ve gotten more rightwing and extreme, and the Democrats are the same slightly-left-of-center moderates they’ve always been. I guess as an Archbishop, he must be too sensitive about this issue, so he actually thinks that passing a law to legalize abortion up to the moment of birth is somehow “more extreme” than the Party used to be.
