Note to Hillary

September 26, 2017

Hillary Clinton is again trying to dismiss her use of an unsecured private email server as Secretary of State as a big “nothing,” this time by citing reports that Trump aide/son-in-law Jared Kushner has also used a private server for work communications. She accused Congressional Republican investigators such as Rep. Jason Chaffetz of “rank hypocrisy” for investigating her when they’re turning a blind eye to Kushner’s private server.

In response, Chaffetz told Fox News that Clinton was misinformed. In fact, the Congressional Oversight Committee has already sent a letter to the White House seeking information on those emails. He also sent a bipartisan letter along with Democrat Elisha Cummings to the White House in April when they heard a similar report, but the response was that no private server had been used at that time. So no, Congress is not turning a blind eye to a Republican using a private server. Why, it's almost as if they expect everyone to obey the rules! What a quaint notion!

To further explode the idea that these are equivalent situations: Kushner’s attorney says this involves about 100 emails, mostly in which outside people sent news stories to Kushner’s private address that he forwarded to the White House, and there are copies of all of them on government-recorded servers. Hillary spent years housing classified information on an incredibly unsecure private server and when asked to show those emails to investigators, her aides destroyed about 33,000 of them, wiped her server with Bleach Bit and smashed her cell phones with a hammer. If you seriously believe that’s much ado about “nothing,” then someone might have hit you in the head with a hammer.
