The NFL’s war on its own fans is going about as well for them as Grenada vs. the USA. A Morning Consult daily tracking poll found that three weeks ago, about 60% of both Democrats and Republicans viewed the NFL favorably. Now, after the ramping up of player protests during the National Anthem, Democrats’ attitudes remain the same; but among Trump voters (you know, the working class folks who are supposedly the NFL’s core fan demographic), more than 60% now hold an unfavorable view, a plunge of over 30 points in three weeks.

That erosion of fan support could be seen on TV this weekend in the seas of empty stadium seats that are making NFL games look like a convention of Harvey Weinstein supporters.

As if the Cleveland Browns didn’t have enough problems, the empty seats led to another embarrassing moment that proved easy fodder for jokers for Twitter. Wonder how many seat numbers they had to keep drawing for this raffle before they finally found a seat that had someone sitting in it?

My father fought in WWII in France and Germany. And my son in law did 4 tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. My husband was a Vietnam era vet. I worked at our VA hospital as a RN for 35 years. As a family who is strongly supportive of our military, I am disgusted with the NFL players. Where in this world can these people make that kind of money playing a game. I use to watch sunday and monday night football. I quit watching this year after the first games when I seen players kneeling. I wish if these people don't like this country they should go to europe or africa or australia. My family fought for the rights that these players exercise. I am proud to be an American and proud of my families contributions to our country. God Bless America and God Bless our President. Pray for our nation and its leaders.

I don't like sports, especially professionals. They make so much money they should be publicly thanking the Lord for their talents! That said, I want to comment on something else. Tom Hanks -- you featured a blurb on him. Note that he was given some kind of award by Obama, & went on BBC TV with Graham Norton & said about Obama: "He's a great guy!" I am no longer a Hanks fan, along with all those other mouthy overpaid "actors" who sacrifice self-respect for political gain. Just wanted to let you know.

cut the spin on both sides; the NFL kneelers are distespecting the PAYING CUSTOMERS in the stadium. if I'm watching on television I can turn the channel but AFTER paying for tickets and going to the stadium I have no choice when they kneel. all Americans have 1st Amendment rights but MY RIGHTS END WHERE YOURS BEGIN !!!!!!! and kneelers rights end where mine begin !!!!!!!

Viewership on TV is down, attendance at the stadiums is also down. Don't these million dollar athletes realize they are cutting their own throats!
