Every time there is a shooting like the horrific church shooting last Sunday, gun control advocates immediately call for more gun laws. They accuse opponents of offering no solutions. Yet they never seem to tell us exactly what laws they would pass that would have actually prevented the shootings. The “do something even it’s wrong” mentality seems self-defeating, particularly in the latest case, where we learned that the shooter was already banned by law from ever owning a gun and a paperwork snafu let him go undetected, while his killing spree was ended by a law-abiding former NRA instructor with a personal weapon he wouldn’t have had if the gun control lobby had its way.

So the question remains: since existing laws failed to prevent this atrocity, precisely what new laws would have prevented it? Sen. Ted Cruz, of all people, thinks that a gun law he introduced in 2013 would have. It would’ve required all government agencies (including the Air Force) to report gun-disqualifying convictions to the NCIS database. It also would’ve created a task force to prosecute people who lie about previous convictions on their background check/application forms, a felony that the government seldom prosecutes. Those things should have kept the Texas killer from buying a gun.

So what happened to Ted Cruz’s gun law? Democrats killed it with a filibuster. Seriously.

In conjunction with passing new laws protecting them against lawsuits new laws need to be passed requiring medical providers, especially those engaged in mental evaluations, to report anyone they believe to be mentally incapacitated and a danger to society to the proper authority that would prevent such a person from buying guns in the first place. There would be a provision for appeal. Also, since automatic weapons are outlawed then the new law should also outlaw anything, including attachments, that could turn any legal gun into an automatic weapon. It is my belief that less than 5% of the population would be banned from owning guns. This would still leave 95% plus of the U.S. population able to buy guns for self defense or to hunt.

1st this nation and its elected leadership, right, wrong, or indifferent, need to realize more "Gun Control Laws" Will Not Solve One Damed Thing!
This is the results of Ignorance Gone To Seed And Stupidity Come To Fruit!
The ONLY thing that will change this damnedable mess isn't more laws or more money!
It is a SIN Problem because this nation has turned from the God Laws of Love Thy Lord God, Honor Your Father & Mother,Love Thy
    Neighbor as Thyself...
Because if you follow these LAWS you won't be able to think you can get away with the SIN.

Maybe one solution would be armed guards for churches, schools, etc.

It doesn't matter what any republican brings to congress, demtards will do anything to block it. They care nothing about our country, and think that making us suffer is the right thing to do, at least until Trump is out of office. They will do anything, say anything, and lie to back it up, just to make Trump look bad. Then they blame the divisiveness on Trump or republicans, over and over again, yet many of the people they're hurting are themselves. They are so brainwashed, they would stand their and chant to be shot in the head, then, while still bleeding, go to the polls and vote straight democrat. It's not republicans and conservatives causing the divisiveness that's consuming our country, it's democrat leadership doing so. They have already begun to attack themselves, hopefully they can finish themselves off before the next election cycle.

Considering he bought the guns after 2013, the Democrats in Congress who filibustered the Cruz bill, have blood on their hands.

My question is, "Why would they oppose a bill that would have helped to make gun acquisition to undesirables stricter?" That makes no sense to me.

It just goes to show that demos aren't really that concerned about how many people are killed in mass shootings, they just want to ban citizens from being able to buy guns and they are determined to confiscate and destroy the guns we have just like they did in Austalia. They, like everyone else, know that an unarmed population is necessary for any political group(Democratic Socialists?) to take over a country and turn it into a 3rd world disaster like Venezuela has become. Once the demos achieve their aim, we are all starving bozos who have to kill their neighbors to stay alive. Tell a demo that and they will tell you it is better than letting the billionaires own all the property. Demos are such jealous idiots to be fooled by that self-destructive idea.

It's simple. Anti-gun and anti-conservative are the same thing in their narrow minds. This is from liberals, which word once suggested that the bearer was open-minded.

Problem was it was Republican who proposed the law but TED CRUZ made it impossible to support for any Democrat. Even if he was for banning all guns Dems would oppose!

Just a minor correction, it’s NICS (national instant check system), not (NCIS) Naval Criminal Investigation Service.

They filibustered it because they don't want a solution, they want the issue to remain alive so they can blame Republicans and the NRA for being obstructionists. Democrats do not want any solutions that does not involve absolute government control over the issue like a government ban on all firearms, i.e. That would give them absolute total control over every aspect of our lives, period!

Typical Democratic Fascists, they refuse to enforce existing Laws, or to close loopholes created for only one set of people Democrat criminals. Yet every time there is a shooting they reciprocate with a shooting of there own, through biased media and always slanting the story as if Patriotic Americans and legal armed citizens are to blame! When the truth almost always proves it was one of their Minions, enabled by their rhetoric and slanted innuendo! Can we please Prosecute every Democrat under the Rico Act, for their 50-60years of Criminal activity and underhanded destruction of our once fair Legal system? Thanks Mike!

Liberals have no idea what they want short of confiscation
Shouldn't it be NICS rather than NCIS?
