Joe Biden has been doing very well in recent polls, so, of course, it was time to trot out the women.

This has become such a cliché that it was inevitable, and the timing was suspiciously perfect. But this time, since Biden isn’t what most would call a sexual predator –- even in 2019 –- the “line” for inappropriate behavior had to be moved in order to include him in that category. “Uncle Joe” has always been the sort who lacked clear physical boundaries, kind of like the big, affectionate dog who can’t resist jumping all over every visitor, male or female, who comes to the door. Some people like or at least tolerate the dog jumping up, sniffing them and and slobbering on them, but others are not thrilled. They feel uncomfortable and anxious, and they wish he had been trained to stay down and keep his paws off them.

“Joe Biden doesn’t just meet you, he engulfs you,” wrote Mark Bowden (a man, please note) in THE ATLANTIC in 2010. “If he’s in a chair, he’ll scoot it closer; when the furniture’s not portable, he’ll lean forward, planting his elbows on his knees, gesturing with both hands as he speaks, occasionally reaching over to touch your arm or leg for emphasis.”

But now, his behavior is being called misogyny, or at least a sign that Biden is not in touch (no pun intended) with the times. Tina Brown, formerly of VANITY FAIR and THE NEW YORKER, said he “comes from the crustacean era of gender relations...not nimble in the mores and the language of today.”  And it's true that with women, his style is particularly icky.

Women will keep coming forward for as long as it takes to neutralize Biden as a candidate, and he may realize that already. This has just now become a serious issue for him, even though it’s simply his nature and everyone has known it for years. At this writing, the latest woman to complain has said Biden even put his hand on her thigh, where, admittedly, it most definitely did not belong. She also says that since she had previously been a victim of sexual assault, she was all the more uncomfortable with his wandering hands.

Biden’s people are blaming “right-wing trolls” for blowing this up, but I don’t think that’s it. This is bound to have been orchestrated by at least one of his competitors on the far-left, who would love to stop him from entering the primary. (The Bernie Sanders campaign denies any involvement.) When it suits their purposes, they believe the women; when it doesn’t, as in the case of Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax –- which is much, MUCH more serious (alleged rape) –- they let it drop. They ignored the very serious allegations about Bill Clinton, too. So we know how much they actually care.

The last time Biden decided against running, it was in the aftermath of his beloved son Beau dying of cancer. As much as my heart aches for him at such a profound loss, I can’t help but think he wouldn’t have run then even if Beau had survived. Hillary was the anointed one in 2016, and not one single Democrat DARED compete with her. Look at how many are running now, with Hillary safely gone; frankly, I think that’s testimony to how scared to death they were to challenge her. In fact, I predicted in early 2016 that Biden wouldn’t enter the race but would end up being Hillary’s replacement on the ticket if and when she was indicted. I still think that’s what would have happened if “the fix” hadn’t been in for her in that surreal press conference of July 2016.

Anyway, this time, with Hillary almost certainly out of the running, Biden is ready. And even though I would never support him for President, it infuriates me that the women are being trotted out again. It was the travesty of the Kavanaugh confirmation that was the last straw for me and caused me to “come out” as a conservative, finally writing under my own name. Once again, I hate seeing women being used for political ends, and that is exactly what is happening.

I’ve said it before: this #MeToo business is setting women back decades. The way for women to fight against sexism and abuse of power is to refuse to act as victims and to come together in a pact, agreeing that we are NOT going to play along. If Biden had put his hands on me or started nuzzling my hair (a hypothetical situation, as that would require my attending a Biden event), I would have gracefully moved away. If that didn’t do it, I would probably have used humor; I’d have nicely but firmly said, “Knock it off, Mr. Vice President.” This very situation has happened to me before, not with a politician but with a celebrity getting hands-y in public, so I know just what it’s like.

If we, as women, want to be considered Presidential material, we can’t be withering flowers. How is a woman going to negotiate with Vladimir Putin or Kim Jong-Un if she can’t even make it clear to an overly-familiar man where the line is drawn? We talk about being “empowered,” but we are fooling ourselves about that unless we can ACT empowered. If men are expected to act differently in 2019, we should be expecting more from ourselves as well. Men need reasonable boundaries; women need an intact spine.

I really don’t think this latest parade of women is the reason not to support Biden –- not when there are so many other reasons not to support him. The #1 reason I could ABSOLUTELY NEVER, EVER vote for Biden is the remark about Republicans he once made to a largely black audience: “They’re gonna put y’all back in chains.” I don’t even know where to start about this; it’s so wrong on so many levels. Dishonest, manipulative, inflammatory, destructive, horrifying. In fact, though I very rarely resort to using the word “evil,” I might use it here. No one who says something like this should ever be allowed near the Oval Office. Period.  In my mind, he is utterly disqualified.

Oh, but there’s much more. To cite the most recent example, John Solomon has a new piece in THE HILL about Biden’s strong-arming of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko into firing his top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin. At the time of Shokin’s firing, he happened to be leading a wide-ranging corruption probe into the natural gas firm Burisma Holdings, which employed Biden’s younger son Hunter as a board member.

Solomon writes: “U.S. banking records show Hunter Biden’s American-based firm, Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC, received regular transfers into one of its accounts –- usually more than $166,000 a month –- from Burisma from spring 2014 through fall 2015...Shokin told me...that, before he was fired as general prosecutor, he had made ‘specific plans’ for the investigation that ‘included interrogations and other crime-investigation procedures into all members of the executive board, including Hunter Biden.”

American authorities, in an entirely different case, unearthed records showing how much Hunter’s company made while his father was Obama’s “point man” in Ukraine. Between April 2014 and October 2015, more than $3 million was paid out of Burisma to an account linked to Rosemont Seneca. Of course, Joe Biden and his son deserve the presumption of innocence, but if Joe is running for President, he’s got some ‘splainin’ to do.

Details at the link below. There’s more, too, concerning allegations of Joe and Hunter Biden improperly coordinating their official and business activities in Asia. So, really, do we have to trot out the women AGAIN? That is really getting old, especially when there’s plenty more about Joe Biden that should make us all uncomfortable.

yep another criminal running for prez. Is Gillibrand the only one who isn't a criminal? But then we could look at her record in NY. H-m-m Joe has many liabilities besides his hands problem.. He has a mental problem, a sexual problem and an ethics problem. He has NONE. Then of course, there is the "gun free zone" act. And nearly all of the shootings since are the result of "gun free zones." How many times has he tried to run for prez? 3? But yes, 2016 was rigged. That was so obvious, but the media doesn't have the intellect to notice. Joe is a liability because he can't control his behavior. Once in the WH was more than enough. Time for him to go back to DE and stay out of sight and mind. When all of Ukraine gate is exposed, perhaps jail would be more appropriate. Time for the trials.

I met Biden, while I was the Site Manager (for the US), in Basrah Iraq. I've commented before that he attempts to encroach on your personal space. Somewhere I have a picture from the 'greet and meet'. Myself and one of my associates were the only two (2) there. I wasn't impressed then and I'm not now. So many of these guys, these alleged politicians , are skilled at subterfuge (lying). It's pretty obvious his kind think they know better than anyone else how we should run our lives. Anyway, I thought 3 strikes and you're out. Believe he's had 3 losing tries at the 'big job'.

As a white Republican, conservative Christian woman, I truly feel much compassion for Mr. Joe Biden. Even as a young person, I realized the difference between grandfatherly affection and lecherous actions. Joe Biden is an affectionate man as I am an affectionate woman. I truly love people and I, too, reach out to touch, hug, kiss those who are hurting, needy, or simply my friend. God help us when we feel that we can't show genuine compassion for our fellowman. Mr. Biden and I don't agree polically but morally, I believe he has been protracted wrongly. God help us.

I am in favor of women being strong on the inside as well as smart, being competitive with men only will make our country stronger. Balancing the Genders is a good thing. Please can we keep the genders separate I believe Joes feeling and sniffing people is just plain weird or he is looking to see if his behavior will lead to something else. My uncle Joe was nothing like this Joe my uncle Joe was a plumber a big strong and a man that was generous he never crept around like Biden trying to rip people off using the peoples power to it. I laugh at a guy like Biden not very manly as far as men goes and its a dam shame if I turn on the news and I see that phony. I wonder if Hilary still has hot sauce in her purse remember when she was talking to a Black group these misfits Hilary and Biden pander to Black people most of them just roll their eyes and shame normal people who has to witness it. Biden is old enough to have learned from the men of the Greatest Generation he and Sanders must have been living next door to each other both have had their heads in the sand most of their lives.

You are so on-point with the ageism of today's society. I was given the boot working in a public school services environment, back in 2007, as was other co-workers who were over 45! Our so-called supervisors were in their 30's, and so backwards regarding plain respect toward older workers, they had none. It is only worse now, 10+ years later. Also, these same supervisors were sexist and bigots and typical Liberal backwardness. They referred to an all-women meeting of school librarians as 'a Tupperware Party'. Yes, he actually said that! I mentioned something to him that that wasn't appropriate, and shortly there after I was going to be fired, but I left employment first! I know I should have stayed and made him 'fire' me, then I could take the management to court for sexual harassment, but I didn't have the time or money, as I needed to find another job to continue to help support my family. I wasn't the only one, females in all, that left because of this 'little fraction of a man', because of his inappropriate behavior regarding statements made that were sexist, ageist, racist, and non-politically correct. I usually over look this immature behavior, but it kept happening more and more, and I knew I would never get the respect from my years of clerical experience working at Eastman Kodak Company, with Top-Secret DoD Security Clearances, and wisdom, knowledge, and appropriate behavior for all working, tax-paying New Yorkers. I never called him names, though other females did behind his back, 'Baby Huey' is what they called him, I never did, as I knew he was only in his 30's, a Liberal, and has know idea what real-life behavior in society demands, i.e. common courtesy, mutual respect, open-mindedness, all the things that we learn through the years, and what used to be taught in public schools. Now, what is taught is to hate America, hate your parents, and to do whatever you want because you won't get held accountable for your poor behavior and corrupted morals.

I was a contractor on a Naval facility in New Orleans when the Tailhook story came to light. The Navy went into PC beastmode and life on the base as everyone knew and enjoyed ended. We couldn't address women in the same way (an endearing "Hon" or "Sweetie" we use here in the South), we couldn't fraternize with certain groups, holiday parties and stage plays ceased. Things just got awkward and ugly. Distrust filled the air. You didn't know if you were having a heart to heart with co-worker/friend or being set up. I don't like Joe Biden, nor should he be president, but I do know he has suffered loss, which may tend to his wanting to connect with others in a personal way that some may not understand. Let's not make this THE issue, as there are skeletons on both sides of the aisle that will be a huge stumblingblock to what this country needs right now, and that's to move forward for the good of the people.

Republicans have a fantastic opportunity here - support Joe Biden's actions as benign and common to a kinder, gentler age which is now unfortunately not politically correct. If Joe wants to smell my hair or pat my shoulder, fine with me. Its the new PC "norm" that scares the hell out of me!

Yes, there is some 'smoke' around 'Uncle Joe's' touching. Just take a look at that little girl's face
when she looked down at his hand on her waist. However, I'm much more concerned about the serious charges of Joe Biden's son getting all that money from the Ukraine. What was the
$3 Million for? Was the Ukraine company paying the money to keep aid flowing from the U.S.?
Sure seems that way to me. Then there's the business trip young Biden was on to China with
his dad one Air Force 2? Yes, we do believe 'Innocent until proven guilty'; come on now people
Joe Biden BRAGGED at a conference that he got the Ukrainian prosecuter fired. I had more than enough of the double dealing when Bill and Hillary were around. It's time to get the show on the road. Investigate these charges. If Joe Biden's hand was in the cookie jar, it's time to slam the lid.
We don't need any more corruption. Drain The Swamp!

Also Ladies, take from me. When a man puts his hand(s) on you - scare the 'heck' out of him by
loudly saying 'Take your hands off me, you don't have my permission!' Some of the jokers will
say something like 'I was only kidding'. Look him in the eye and say "I'm Not". Then take the
    loud conversation to HR.

I don't believe for one moment that Joe isn't a pervert. I belong to a widowed group and always give hugs to the women and not once has anyone told me to stop or accuse me of improper touching. The video's I've seen of four handed Joe he is a lecher. Politicians especially know a certain decorum should be followed when around people but apparently Joe prefers to act like a junk yard dog. I myself have granddaughters and love them very much but would never put my hands on them like Joe does and the lefts claims he is just an affectionate person doesn't wash especially when he gropes children on camera. I do agree that this all of a sudden appearance of women at election times is suspicious at the least. On Joes behalf I don't think he is a sexual predator but he is dumb enough not to know propriety at social functions.

Absolutely OUSTANDING commentary Laura! SO grateful for you stepping out from behind the curtain to stand up for so many 'right' things including this keen insight on the WOMEN thing! I love the 'GROW A SPINE LADIES' message! I was a female in a male dominated industry and I had no problem telling men where the line was drawn. These women who ALLOW powerful men to go a step farther than they should are JUST a wrong as the man doing the perpetrating. Find you non-political voice women and JUST SAY NO!

    HOW ABOUT ....
An impartial, 7 year, by-the-book, due process, presumption of innocence, IRS audit of all Congress, Judiciary, and Executive officials?
Since "THEY" are demanding POTUS TRUMP's returns ... let the IRS do its job.
No weaponizing, no exceptions, spouse and adult children included (... Hunter).
"We demand transparency in government, so AUDIT all of us, current & former, for 7 years" !!!
    Details could look like this:
    (a) all tax returns (previous 7 years) of all current & former Congress and Senate to be audited.
    (b) if tax returns were filed separate (not married joint), the spouse will also be audited.
    (c) all IRS audits will follow approved regulations. Penalties and fines will be assessed, and paid within 10 days.
    (d) all audits allow for the taxpayer to challenge (with tax attorney or other representative) findings.
    (e) all audits will be completed BEFORE the executive branch experiences the same.

all tax returns (previous 7 years) of all federal, district, appeal, judges, and supreme justices to be audited.

ALL senior members for the last SEVEN years will be audited.
IRS audits will include any EXECUTIVE branch official since 2013 (Obama, Biden, HRC, Bubba, Lynch, etc...)
Sorry, I was dreaming, of swamp draining ... never mind.

So I realize The issue with Biden is confusing... so I will separate it. #1) Look at the faces of those children. Anyone with any sense should've stopped that, or asked Joe not to touch their daughters in that manner. 2) Adult women. In many of the photos Biden has his hand pretty much on the side of their breast. Whats the woman supposed to do when they are in public? Elbow him and or break his nose? And rubbing into their hair, or neck? Way too intimate. So I have an experience with an Ex Boss who somehow managed to more often than not touch my breast. Whether he backed into me in an elevator, or walked by me, he somehow touched me with his arm or elbow. Or you would be sitting at the computer and he felt the need to rub your shoulders, but he was really trying to look down and feel down your chest. I remember getting up quickly to avoid contact. This happened to dozens and dozens of women at my place of employment. We all complained. No one took it serious until one day there was a lawsuit. A few days behind closed doors and he was out. This man was a predator and I believe Biden is more than just a huggy guy, I feel he is a predator. Thats my take. He’s icky. So while I get womens advancement, women need to punch the guy, period. Its a different world.
