Today's Edition: 7 minute read

Today seems like a perfect time to remind the world of what humans can achieve if they just stop calling each other names and killing each other. Not only because that message is so sorely needed now, but because today is the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s vision of a man on the moon becoming a reality. It’s a day to celebrate an astonishing landmark achievement for mankind, for science and (pardon my political incorrectness) for the United States of America. It’s also a day to honor three of the greatest Huck’s Heroes in history: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.

While other kids in the '60s had heroes in sports, TV or movies, my heroes were the astronauts. I knew all the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronauts by name and watched every launch. But Apollo 11 was different. Those of us who saw it live were blessed to witness something that had never been seen before in the entire history of the world.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Puerto Rico protests

By Mike Huckabee

Protests are raging in Puerto Rico against the corrupt government after 900 pages of “homophobic and misogynistic texts between a dozen influential Puerto Rican politicos” were leaked by an investigative journalism outlet.  Some of the celebrities supporting the protesters include Ricky Martin and Benicio Del Toro.  Martin called the local government barbaric, corrupt and “insane.”

“Hamilton” creator/star Lin Manuel Miranda also joined a protest in New York.

Just as a reminder: when President Trump said the US did a good job in getting hurricane relief supplies to Puerto Rico, but they didn’t get to the people because of the corrupt government, many of these same liberals who are now protesting Puerto Rico’s corrupt government accused him of being a racist and blamed the suffering of the people on Trump.  We now know that many of the supplies didn’t get to the people but were pilfered, stolen or eaten by rats, and now we know that the government is corrupt.

So here’s my question: will prominent liberals who are protesting the Puerto Rican government now admit Trump was right, or will they declare themselves to be racists?  I’m just curious to find out which choice they would find more bearable.

Andrea Mitchell = 25% right

By Mike Huckabee

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell blasted Republicans for using the term “socialist” to refer to the four radical Democratic freshmen Congress women who are now the face of the Party.  Mitchell said, “…None of these members of Congress are socialists, but that is the way the Republican leadership wants to frame this election. They don't have a Democrat to run against, they're not running against Bernie Sanders per se yet…There's not a single member of these congressional representatives who are avowed socialists. We don't know where that's coming from other than opposition research.”

As noted at the link, both Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib are members of the Democratic Socialists of America, which claims to be the largest socialist organization in the US, and in 2018, a staffer for Ilhan Omar told a DSA rep that "[Omar] is proud to call herself a Democratic socialist, she's very excited about this. So I hope you guys endorse us, too."

In Mitchell’s defense, that is only three out of four who are proudly self-proclaimed socialists (and only two of those are actual card-carrying members), so one could argue that maybe she’s 25% right.  As you can see from the rest of the article about Mitchell’s other coverage of Democrats (not covering them, but covering for them), that’s a pretty good batting average for NBC News.

The candidate line-ups for the next two Democratic debates were revealed by CNN, but the network is being brutally razzed for the way they chose which candidates would appear on which night.  The game show-like stunt involved the candidates' names being printed on cards that were shuffled live on the air faceside-down, then dealt into two colorful boxes.  I kept waiting for Penn and Teller to walk in and reveal how it was done.

Critics described it as “nonsense,” “idiotic” and “the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.” I would reply to them, “Just wait until you see the actual debates.”

Suggest deporting a naturalized US citizen whom you disagree with politically?  Why, it’s outrageous, fascist, xenophobic, un-American, unprecedented!!!...

Well, except a couple of years ago, when Democrats were pushing a Twitter hashtag campaign to deport naturalized US citizen Melania Trump.

The Internet: it’s tripped up more immature juveniles than the old school “permanent record” ever did.

A judge has denied billionaire pervert Jeffrey Epstein bail after federal agents searched his Manhattan luxury apartment and found a safe containing a stash of cash, diamonds and a passport from a foreign country.

Then again, do you really need that much evidence to figure out that a billionaire with a private plane known as the “Lolita Express” is the very definition of a “flight risk”?
