New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo admitted that he was stunned to learn from new research that 66% of the state’s new hospitalized coronavirus patients had been “sheltering in place” before getting sick.

Some cynics pointed out that it shouldn’t be shocking that if almost everyone is being forced to “shelter in place,” that a majority of any group will be people who were sheltering in place. But it also shows that, as I’ve mentioned before, Edgar Allen Poe was right in “The Masque of the Red Death,” that you can’t hide away from disease by locking yourself up in the house forever. Viruses will circulate, some people will be more susceptible than others and will get sick, and when they do, the worst cases will need to go to the hospital. It should serve as a reminder to the “keep the lockdown going for years” crowd that this was supposed to be a temporary measure to “flatten the curve” – that is, to stretch out the infection rate and keep a massive wave of cases from overwhelming the health care system early on, before we had treatments, ventilators or hospital beds.

We now have all those things, and surpluses of the latter two. It’s time to face the fact that some people will get sick and we’ll have to deal with it, but we’re much better prepared to do so. Most others won’t get sick, and that will create herd immunity, which will help defeat this virus, just as it does all viruses eventually. We don’t want the cure to be worse than the disease, but we may be nearing the point where hiding out and doing nothing while waiting for a cure is becoming worse than the disease.

By the way, something to bear in mind: as we do more and more testing, many more people who are carrying the virus will be identified. This is completely predictable, since we now know that it was much more widespread than we thought, so of course many more tests will identify many more people carrying it. This will be used by the left to claim that in states that are relaxing the lockdown, there's a massive second wave of cases, which is not necessary true. Particularly when the tests were conducted even before the lockdown was relaxed and we’re only now seeing the test results.

The public health docs have forgotten their epidemiology training that immunity is how diseases are defeated. The least affected group of society is our young people and instead of keeping them in college and school where the the virus would go through largely unnoticed, they were turned loose to spread the disease to their grandparents. As a veterinarian I am appalled at the way this has been handled and the damage that so called experts have done to our society. If a truly dangerous virus is ever to get loose now , I fear they have cried wolf and the population won’t believe them when it may be necessary. This should go down in medical history as what not to do .

Your last paragraph concerning "more and more" testing displaying more and more people carrying the disease, even perhaps asymptomatically, only makes reasonable sense to anyone who has sound reasoning and is not driven by a hyper-political bias.
From the beginning I have personally maintained that this shutdown of our society and our economic engine is nothing more than an orchestrated attack by the political left and their sycophant media in collusion with Red China.
As our President has said on many occasions, the Chinese communist government are not our "fair trading partners". They are the political, economic, and military adversaries of the Constitutional Republic of the United States of America.
We had better, as a nation, wake up before an irreversible tipping point has arrived from which there will be no return. Due to this fear driven "shutdown" bovine excrement. we are very close. Perhaps already there.

    Mr. Huckabee,
I can't forward any of your msgs anymore---Centurylink(my email provider) appears to be blocking them from being sent to others(I can't even send it to myself) Something bad is going on here. I get stuff from the Western Journal--I can't forward any of their msgs either
If you have any techs that can figure this out--please do--it is suppressing public discourse in the worst way

Americans need to be tough, look living in a free society means we have to protect, care, and be responsible for our selves. We rely on Police Fire Military ,Faith Leaders, after that our system are Farmers, Trades people, Business of all sorts, Medical all this is what the United States are. We have people of all kinds skills and cultures blended properly we have the best system when people start wanting groups to provide for other groups when people do not want to care for themselves thats when the system starts to fail every one loses when groups start to depend on other groups to survive. This country is set up to offer options to all its unfortunate that people choose negative paths life in the US has so much to offer you have to work to get them. OPEN UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello Governor Huckabee,
I know this is off topic, but of importance. Last night you had Robby Gallity on your show. It just so happens that he knew our former pastor, Darren Patrick.
Darrin was the first pastor of The Journey in St. Louis, Missouri. It is a non denominational church with ties to the Southern Baptist Convention. My wife and I first met him through our daughter. He was very gracious from that first day onward. With that said, it is unfortunate that he took his own life. Instead of going into details, you can read by going to In the article, you will read the ties that Darren and Robby had.
In today's online service, the five pastors from different localities will give their eulogies and remembrances. Our church family has lost a wonderful person, but won't be forgotten.
Thank you for your time and patience, and I'll be looking forward to on Fox News and analysis, and see you on your show this coming Saturday.

Governor, it’s getting really scary. A few of my old friends in FL actually think Cuomo is a saint. Saying he’s the only one with common sense. I had to set them straight and ask them to watch a different network than the Chinese news network. How can people be so blind? Then I saw how someone tried to twist the words of Alex Salvi from OANN. Is there going to be a day of reckoning for the Crooked news media too? People that only watch CNN really believe everything they see.

I completely agree. And it is my understanding that the virus has already mutated. So getting a vaccine that is effective is not going to happen

I have a liberal friend (still friends because I don't read any of her political Facebook posts, and we don't live near each other now) who illustrates the disconnect between 'them' and 'us'.
As I paged past her political posts, something caught my eye. She mentioned that they should (but won't) be seeing Jared Kushner doing the perp walk from the White House.
What??? Is there no coverage at all of the actual news on CNN and their cronies?

Testing is a waste of resources UNLESS the Test shows your IMMUNE ! Lets stop the Bovine Excrement about testing. Test me today and I'm Negative and I shelter Down at home after using my hand to open the Clinic Door as I exit and tomorrow I'm Positive but I have the false impression that I'm OK? Is this how ignorant we are supposed to be? Then lets use NYC as the way to handle this. Ship 5000 suspected people to Nursing Homes and watch the death toll rise by 5000. Stupid can be FIXED but it's going to take more than 12 of your peers saying it was Justified.

Has the public had enough of the media and it's addiction to death? Look at the disaster Cuomo and Deblasio tell New Yorkers to ride the subways go to parades send Wuhan Virus patients back into old folks homes get out in mass form and they become shocked at the percentages of deaths in one area the same area Cuomo and DeBlasio lead the citizens into. The most in the US and the media thinks the 2 of them are doing a great job getting more New Yorkers dead. Death in NY and the Media go hand and glove the media applauded death the media praise Dummer and Dumbest the media is the Grim Reaper of goodness and the carrier of death one can not believe the media it is a Socialist propaganda outlet mostly for the benefit of China.

My guess it that the folks who got it while being in lockdown got it from the employees. I doubt it just blew in through an open window on the breeze.

Maybe with all the "strict" rules and threat of arrest if you dared to go out, sick people just stayed in their homes and got more sick and spread it among themselves. The news made you feel like that if you went to the hospital you would surely die and if you didn't have the virus you would get it and then spread it to everyone. Fla did the right thing and Cumo caused more deaths to elderly by keeping infected persons in the mist of the elderly. Think he has enjoyed the whole thing. Delights in being on TV everyday with his endless musing and comments. Very self centered and self serving.

No one can become immune to any disease as long as they are confined to their homes. In addition, they are breathing the same air over and over again because of their HVAC system. If they don't open windows to get fresh air, they are defeating the purpose of being housebound. We have to build up an immunity to this disease by getting out, being careful, and continuing our normal lives. Why Gov Cuomo is stunned is because he is a politician and not thinking like a normal citizen, or a businessman. We should thank President every day; however, I do believe that he has been getting fed some "crap" from Dr. Fauci! The people on his Council who have had anything to do with China should be booted out of the Task Force and should be convicted of being a traitor to our country - Walmart has been feeding us products from China for years; Obama and Fauci have invested in the Wuhan labs; when do these people get convicted? That isn't even counting on the medicines the US gets from China! So terribly wrong! I am grateful that I only take 3 pharmaceutical medicines and the rest are natural products. I am healthier now than I was taking parm meds. There is so much to clean up in this country and now the President and all of us have to be concerned with the young people being consumed with Socialism; only because they have no knowledge of the past history - why? because it has been taken out of our schools. It is like a domino effect and it has to stop NOW! Everyone in Congress who says they are on the side of the American people and the President better grow some guts and not worry about an election, but why they were elected in the first place!

Dr fauci should be getting more scrutiny for his involvement in Wuhan lab prior to outbreak and his involvement to swine flu outbreak. Seems like they have the perfect guy telling us recomendations and swaying attention from where it should be. Not to mention tax dollars that were funneled to Wuhan lab that he had a hand in

Can you please comment on the current theory that sheltering in place only serves to break down our immune systems. This “pandemic“ was manipulated in order to create an environment of fear so that the vaccine will be widely accepted and mandated. Dr. Fauci and friends will benefit (millions of $$$) through his patent on the vaccine. Please google “DR FAUCI EXPOSED BY DR JUDY MIKOVITS ABOUT CORONAVIRUS & AIDS”
I anxiously await your opinion on this, thanks.

It is not surprising to me for Gov. Cuomo to be "stunned". When you don't have the capacity, or desire, to think/imagine outside of the political bubble that Democrats have "self isolated" themselves into, one isn't exposed to the diversity of thoughts and opinions about matters, in this case COVID-19, and how things can be so different when you look through "clean glass".

I am the one "stunned" that anybody would not understand having more infections coming from those 'locked down' in their homes, a.k.a. 'high rise apartment complexes!' Like sardines packed in a can, how do these people even 'think' they can accomplish some kind of "Social Distancing?"

Thank God and Greyhound that I live several states removed from NY! My county, in my state, has had ONLY 46 infections and zero (0) deaths, Thank God, but our 'Save Us From Ourselves' Governor, along with almost every other governor, gave out the "shelter-in-place" edict, and we are yet in that position. It is PAST TIME to get this country up and running again. As a long-ago sailor once said, "Damn The Torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead!"

My NY Governor sorry to say is an idiot. I use to be proud of my state but since he became the Governor, I’m ashamed of NY. All he’s interested in is power and votes. What was he thinking regarding the nursing home scandal. All those people died, the very people he said he was protecting from the virus. Crying to the President everyday for help. He got more help than other state.
