BEST NEWS OF THE DAY
Monday, a federal judge ruled that some of Pennsylvania Democrat Gov. Tom Wolf’s coronavirus restrictions were unconstitutional. The judge found that Wolf’s orders to people to stay home, his size limits on gatherings and his order that "non-life-sustaining" businesses be shut down were “overreaching, arbitrary and violated citizens' constitutional rights.”
The judge said that Wolf’s orders may have been undertaken with the good intention of addressing a public health emergency, “but even in an emergency, the authority of government is not unfettered."
Is there some way we could have that last phrase placed in skywriting over certain states, in letters a mile high?
MUST-READ EDITORIAL
Michael Goodwin reminds us of all the things that could have been accomplished for America if the Democrats had simply accepted Trump’s win in 2016 and worked with him, as he wanted them to do, instead of going insane with rage and hatred, and spending every waking moment trying to unseat, undermine and slander him. Trump was willing to make deals with them on an array of issues they claimed they wanted, from rebuilding US infrastructure to legalizing the “Dreamers,” but they said “NO!!!” to everything because working with Trump might “legitimize” him – something that already happened when he won the 2016 election.
I would add this for anyone who’s seriously thinking of voting for a Democrat in the coming election on any level: In 2018, the Democrats won back the House, with promises of all the things they were going to do to help Americans if they just got back in power. And what have they done since then?
They wasted a year and a ton of money on a ridiculous impeachment farce over a phone call. They came up with a lot of crazy, unpopular, socialist nonsense like the “Green New Deal” that if God is watching out for America will never become law. Their most celebrated new members have spewed a flood of anti-American, anti-police and anti-Semitic propaganda. And they’ve refused to work with Trump or the Republicans, even when it meant denying desperately-needed aid to Americans who continue to struggle with the shutdowns of their businesses by Democrat Governors and Mayors.
And that’s just the damage they’ve inflicted by holding the House. If the voters actually give them the House, Senate and White House, they will expand nationwide the same fine leadership they’ve brought to Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Baltimore and New York. God save us.
NEW PROPOSALS
President Trump’s Labor Department is formulating new proposals to reverse the Obama-era trend of advisory firms that oversee pension funds basing investment decisions on promoting liberal political and social causes instead of increasing the value of investments for retirees.
In short, the government would no longer allow people who oversee 401K’s and pension funds backed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act to steer the money to their personal political agendas while putting retirees in danger of running out of money to live on. The left had for many years salivated over the idea of getting their claws into pension funds and using them as their personal piggy banks, but this would reestablish that the point of a pension fund is to provide a comfortable retirement, not to advance some third party’s political agenda.
Along with peace in the Middle East, this is another major story that the media haven’t bothered to cover because it gives Americans yet another reason to reelect Trump.
A "GAFFE"
One of the lessons I’ve often repeated here is that when a politician makes a “gaffe,” that’s usually a euphemism for “slipped up and accidentally told the truth.” By that standard, Kamala Harris just made a “gaffe” that will surprise absolutely nobody who doesn’t get their news from the mainstream media that act as DNC stenographers. That gaffe: that in a "Biden Administration," she's really going to be the President.
BIDEN'S DEFINITION OF WINNING?!?
Jerry Harris, an Illinois man who became known from a Netflix documentary and who appeared in a campaign video with Joe Biden, was the subject of an FBI raid on his home Monday in an investigation of alleged solicitations of minors for sex. The Washington Free Beacon reports that “three months ago, the Biden campaign used Harris, who has over a million followers on Instagram, as part of Biden's push to sway young voters and ‘win back the Internet.’” Is this how he "sways young voters"?
One surprising aspect of this story: Harris has nothing to do with Netflix’s current controversial film, “Cuties,” which is causing massive backlash because it allegedly “protests” the sexualization of very young girls by depicting it on screen.
LEAST SURPRISING STORY OF THE DAY
The heiress to a predatory subprime mortgage empire that helped bring about the 2007 economic meltdown (the company was referred to as the “Typhoid Mary” of the financial crisis) is spending $200 million in battleground states to help elect Democrats.
SHE WILL NEVER LEARN
As I’ve mentioned many times before, Hillary Clinton should learn to keep her snarky attacks on President Trump to herself because she has more baggage than a 747. Anything she throws at him, he can pull something far worse out of her past and hurl back at her. The latest case in point.
Incidentally, this story should serve to remind us that September 11th was not only the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in 2001, it was also the 8th anniversary of the Benghazi attack that killed four brave Americans. Nobody in our government ever paid a real price for the incompetence, negligence and dereliction of duty that contributed to it. Here’s a reminder of who we lost that day and why it does, indeed, make a big difference.
SPEAKING OF GAS BAGS
Apparently, gathering in large crowds in New York to protest, vandalize and loot does not spread the coronavirus, but gathering in large crowds in New York to watch Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons does. Speaking of large bags of hot gas, New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio announced that this year’s Macy’s Parade will be “virtual.”
I wonder if anyone’s reminded him that Thanksgiving falls after the election, by which time I expect Democrats to become far less concerned with keeping everything shut down.
A MIRACLE
More on Joe Biden’s claim that he will restore honesty to the White House. With all those “Pinocchios,” it’s a miracle he can still fit his face mask over his nose.
HUCK'S HERO SALUTE
A Huck’s Hero salute to Colby Samide from Purcellville, Virginia. He has woodworking skills, so when he realized that many kids who were having to go to school at home didn’t have adequate workspaces or the money to buy them, he designed a desk that could be cut out and assembled from $40 worth of materials in only about an hour. Aided by some donor money and a list of kids who needed desks, he spent his Labor Day weekend creating 40 desks. When word got out, he partnered with a local building and design company to create 50 desks a day for poor kids stuck at home.
It shows how many people can be helped by just one person with a sharp brain, some hands-on skills and a kind heart. And where did Colby get this idea? From building a desk for himself when he was stuck doing his lessons at home. Colby is 17 years old.
MORE THAN TROUBLEMAKERS
Wait, you mean Antifa isn’t just a group of random troublemakers who happen to show up at the same place at the same time, dressed the same way with pre-printed signs and supplies of tools and weapons to commit vandalism and assault, but instead is an organized, anti-American radical group? This will come as a huge shock to anyone who’s spent the past few years with his eyes closed and his fingers in his ears.
A GOOD DOG STORY
I love a good dog story, and this is both a good dog story and a “Good dog!” story.
