President Trump's Decision On Paris Climate Deal

June 2, 2017

As expected, President Trump announced that he is pulling the US out of the Paris Climate Accord. Before the announcement was even made, reaction on the left (and among various corporations that were no doubt salivating over the potential to profit from it) was so overheated that it contributed more to global warming than CO2 does. Trump left the possibility open to crafting a new deal that wouldn’t be as expensive to the US and as destructive to our economy and sovereignty. Refreshingly, he said that as President, his obligation is to the American people. And he did what I was hoping he would do: he used the podium to explain in detail to the American people what the Paris deal actually requires, rather than just the rainbows, lollipops and unicorns its defenders usually sell us.

He listed the predictions of exactly how much damage would be done to various US industries by complying with the current accord, how many US jobs it would destroy or export, and how much it would empty Americans’ bank accounts, all while imposing no meaningful obligations on the worst polluters, such as China and India. He said it would export US jobs to nations that don’t have to comply, and was less about protecting the environment than about putting the US at a severe economic disadvantage. He called it a “massive redistribution of wealth to other nations” (no wonder the Obama Administration loved it.)

He added that even if every nation held to its obligations, and all the dubious scientific claims of its defenders were accurate, its own proponents admit it would result in a temperature reduction of only 0.2 degrees C. by the end of the century. To see what that represents, go to your home’s thermostat and turn down the temperature by 0.2 degrees C. Oh wait, you can’t. Even the most advanced air conditioning system doesn’t measure a temperature change that microscopic. Compare that result to what could be accomplished with the same trillions of dollars if they were put toward eradicating hunger or disease or providing clean, safe water to people in Third World nations.

At the end, Trump said if the obstructionists really think this is so important, then he invited them to stop obstructing and join him in negotiating a new climate agreement that’s actually effective at cleaning up the environment and doesn’t put America at a debilitating disadvantage.

It was a terrific speech, featuring hard realities about climate dogma that have desperately needed to be said for a long, long time. I would only add that before European leaders start piously lecturing the US about our environmental sins, let it be noted that our environment is getting cleaner as we improve efficiency and encourage fracking, natural gas and clean coal. Europe is where clean, safe nuclear power plants that don’t generate CO2 are being shut down by leftist leaders for no reason other than irrational fear-mongering from environmentalists. Talk about science deniers!

I repost almost all your articles on Facebook. Have had some hearty debates from my few remaining liberal friends started by your excellent work.

I was widowed in September. Lost my husband, I believe, to the Obama Care mandate to not provide care for those deemed unworthy of the expense. We refused to buy into Obama Care and couldn't afford insurance after OCare was crammed down our throats. My 62 year old husband, a pastor and evangelist who had retired to take care of my parents, was discharged with pneumonia that might have been effectively treated with IV antibiotics but the ER doctor insisted oral antibiotics would be fine. We went back that same evening but the pneumonia had turned septic and he died the next day senselessly and in terrible pain.

My best friend in the world had worked as an EMT, fireman, peace officer, deputy sheriff, prison and hospital chaplain, and finally pastor and evangelist whose ministry fed and ministered to the needs of thousands in southeastern New Mexico; and yet when he had a medical crisis, he was turned away. I lost my husband nine months ago and still cannot fathom the horrible way he died.

You consistently address the real issues that are destroying us. Please continue speaking to the pressing issues with humor, chutzpah, and Biblical truth!

Finally a POTUS with COMMON SENSE and GUTS. Climate change has been happening since the formation of the earth without the help of mankind! The only thing the politicians have done correctly lately was to change "global warming" to "climate change" which happens all by itself anyway. I taught secondary science for 37 years and NEVER promoted global warming. Please pass my comments along to President Trump, with my THANKS!

This whole matter of Global warming, created under Al Gore, is nothing more that another tax grab. Thankfully we have a president like Mr. Trump, who knows the truth and stands by it, regardless of all the far left idiots in this world, who oppose him. What a "breath of fresh air" to have a leader of his caliber, as president of the free world.
May God Bless President Trump, his family, and administration always.

Great move by President Trump on pulling out of Obama's treasonous Paris agreement. Now if Trump wants to balance the budget - he should sharply reduce all foreign aid to our enemies & those who criticize America axing this Paris accord - and reuse that money in the USA to benefit our American jobs, the wall, and economy. Audit Social Security & remove the foreigners, who never paid anything in. Let other countries learn what it means to live without American financial support.

America won't be a part of the New World Order (Rev 13- Bear = Russia, Lion = Great Britain, Leopard = Germany) and will protect Israel according to the book of Revelations 12:14. We are in the last days.
As you are a Christian man, I'm sure that you know that too.
President Trump will stay this agenda since no one in the Democratic Party would have that position, and even a lot of those in the Republican Party are in the 'elite' group privately.

Wish everyone could cool their jets, and actually look without prejudice at exactly what this AGREEMENT was all about! the United States was paying the bill, as usual, and other countries were reaping great rewards. Keep translations coming of these things, so hopefully everyone will start to get the facts and not information with a leftist spin!

Dear Mr. Huckabee, I agree with our president and I have never believed on this global warming scam. However Democrats need a money pipeline like planned parenthood and climate change funds. They fight so hard to keep them because it's their life blood, remember that they bleed out financially Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I am a Veteran and a Tea Party Patriot and if I could give our side some war winning tactic's it would be the following: Cut off their supply line (money) from planned parenthood and climate scam. and recognize that these falls allegations that they are bringing up are a tactical diversion(smoke screen) to keep our side on defense. The time is now to go on offense and bring charges on all the leakers and those who are covering for the real law breakers. Mr. Huckabee, thank you for a great job that you are doing as a true patriot. God Bless you, Your fellow patriot, Elidio Diaz.
P.S. There are a lot of us Latinos that are for our President Trump.

Once again Governor Huckabee tells it like it is. Good for Trump backing out. The 300 billion cant do a lot more here not only with the enviornment but the infraqstructure and help with out deficit.

You caqn bet the 100 billion that Obama already gave to the United nations did nothing more than line the pockets of the useless United Nations higher ups.

Let's hope President Trumps next deal will be to stop funding the useless United nations.

The world is going to do what the world has always done. No matter what our weather manipulaters do.
I can only think of all the good that could be done with a military budget as big as all the worlds armies. A budget that big could really go along to cleaning up the oceans, provideing clean water and eliminating starvation.
Trump did right, That scheme is designed to bank rupt any country's bank account. And all for nothing.!.......................................

Love your stuff. If I didn't, I wouldn't be subscribed to your link. With every passing day, the impotence and obvious dishonesty of the left becomes more and more apparent. The American people are past the saturation point of them and their media lapdogs becoming apoplectic with everything from the texture of the TP used by the president, to anything else he does.

I too thought Trump was an absurd afterthought, but once YOU left the race, he was our best hope. I still like Cruz, but had he been nominated, we'd have four years of Obama-Light occupying the White House, sad to say.

Keep pounding the left every day in every way. They make it SOOOOOOO easy.

    Hi Mike,

I am a sustainability leader with over two decades of hands-on global experience in this field and also a born again Christian.

I love you article and the repositioning of efforts into fighting the real issues of this world like poverty, hunger and clean water availability. The truth of the matter is that we use a planet and a half of natural resources for satisfying the demands of 7.5 billion Earth inhabitants today. By 2050, we'll be 10 billion people and use three planets if we change nothing. We're running out of stuff. Sustainability is about doing more with less and that's were the focus should be. Better environmental stewardship, with more social diligence and improved economic sense. Focusing on fight mg climate change alone misses the main point of balance of sustainable development.
Regarding the President Trump's announcement today, some of the pushback could have been avoided with the following as part of the announcement:
    - state continuous commitment to addressing citizens well-being using sustainable development policies that are focused on people and on doing more with less
    - emphasize commitment to work towards addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals for the benefit of US population and beyond
    - nominate (or announce the process of nominating) a Chief Sustainability Officer of the WH that would act as a liaison with environmental groups and industry to work together towards these goals
    - ask the nominated CSO to form a US based task force to agree on tangible action items (hotspots, goals, etc) that will help identifying reallocating federal funds towards more balanced (environmental, social, economic) sustainable development innovations and technologies.

    Just my two cents.

Finally!! A sane, rational individual who points to the naked emperor and correctly shouts: "He doesn't have any clothes on!!" The so-called "accord" was, from the beginning, a nonsensical rob-Peter-to-pay-Paul gambit. And the former POTUS secretly smiled as his minions mouthed their approval of this make-America-lose plan.

You have presented an excellent commentary. If the critics of President Trump's position on the Paris Accord were to objectively research each point made in his speech, those with any integrity and patriotism would not be able to criticize the pull-out, IMHO.

Watched President Trump's Rose Garden Address yesterday. He was articulate and to the point. Learned a great deal, wasn't aware of the trillions of dollars to be paid to India and other countries. What in the blazes was Obama thinking? Sorry, I forgot this was Obama's MO--giving the treasury away to the World. Knew that China didn't have to cut back. The rest of the World was getting all the benefits of NO cut-backs on pollution; and we were getting heavily dinged on everything else. The people having hysterics need to take a deep breath of our clean air and relax. Please give my regards to POTUS when you next see him.

Also all the Hollywood elite surely will jump at the chance to send their $ to developing nations to fight climate change.

I AM A MODERATE ON GLOBAL WARMING BASED ON THE WEATHER IN BARROW, ALASKA. ACCORDING TO THE WEATHER READINGS AS FAR BACK AS THE 1970S, BARROW IS NOW 20 TO 30 DEGREES WARMER, ANY SEASON OF THE YEAR, COMPARED TO THE 1970S. BUT I AM IN FAVOR OF PRESIDENT TRUMP SUCCEEDING FROM THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT BECAUSE THERE ARE COUNTRIES, SUCH AS CHINA. THAT ARE NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT. IN THE END, THIS FRENCH CLIMATE AGREEMENT WILL PARTIALLY BANKRUPT THE U.S.!

As mentioned on Fox News, it appears that there are intelligence leaks within the White House! Fox News stated that it is possible that some “hold over staff remaining in the White House from the Obama Administration,” might have been responsible! If I was in your shoes, I would fire ALL remaining hold over staff from the Obama Administration to possibly stop the intelligence leaks, and bring them up on Federal charges pushing for the maximum prison sentence! Then wait and see if there are any additional intelligence leaks. If further action is needed, have your computer surveillance team check all remaining White House staff and files to narrow the down the search for the mole(s). If the leaks still prevail, re-hire your own private security firm, who you have used prior to you becoming President, and swear them in as temporary Federal Officers if necessary, to thoroughly investigate any and all staff for leaks. As far as proof that Obama had wire taps on Trump Tower(s), if Obama had widened the amount of Federal divisions that had surveillance on you prior to and after November 8, make sure you have iron clad irrefutable proof to give to the 90% liberal media. They will try to spin doctor you, as usual. Only the Fox Network will have your back!

I have an idea about definitely stopping the horrible witch hunts and democrat impeachment threats the liberal media (MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS) uses against you President Trump. Is it possible for your 2 sons: Eric and Donald Jr. (private citizens) through a team of Trump lawyers to privately sue all of these networks on the basis of CHARACTER DEFAMATION of YOU in a civil suit for hundreds of billions of dollars, for each network? My understanding of U.S. civil court is that any person can sue another person, for example, even wearing the wrong shirt on the wrong day. Hopefully, the billions of dollars asked for would act as a deterrent for any future witch hunts and impeachment threats throughout the liberal media! When you cut off the money to any organization, the organization goes out of business! In the proposed civil suits, it should be stated that 100% of the hundreds of billions of dollars retrieved, would be donated to very reputable U.S. non-for-profit organizations!

It is now time to quickly move on appointing the new F.B.I. Director! I recommend the following Trump Picks, as the next F.B.I. Director, in order of preference: (1.) Rudy Giulinai,, (2.) Sheriff David Clark, (3.) Chris Christie, (4.) Mike Rogers, or (5.) Joe Lieberman. Last year Hillary should have been indicted on: (1.) not using a secure server for her e-mails when she was Secretary of State; and (2.) allowing Huma Aberdeen to transfer Hillary’s e-mails to Anthony Weiner’s computer! I strongly urge the new F.B.I. Director to re-open the Hillary case, as soon as possible as stated above, and seek to indict Hillary Clinton in order to set an example that “no one is above the law, not even Hillary!” Indicting Hillary will show the democrats you can give them a taste of their own impeachment type medicine! I believe most of Congress is against you mainly because you ARE PUTTING AMERICA FIRST WITH FAIR TRADE which is upsetting the Congressional 24 year old free trade apple cart, paid for by p.a.c. money from the special interest!”

How can we get the press to cover all the good things Trump has done and is doing?
I am tired of reading negative stories, or even true stories where the headlines do not reflect what is in the story.
Can we advertise with a list of positive things and get it on a front page?
For TV we need another network besides FOX who tells it like it is.
Get the Koch brothers and other conservatives to start a network or buy an existing network and fire all the liberals. They could make a lot of money selling advertisements appealing to the center of the country vs. the New York and California audiences...
Trump should buy time every couple of weeks and describe his plans and already done deeds.
He is a good speaker as evidenced by his speech in Saudi Arabia.
