Today's Commentary --- Matt Whitaker seems like an EXCELLENT choice for acting AG -- "Protect and serve" -- Ranting and raving -- Benton Blount -- The Baltic Experience 2019 -- Legally younger -- They must have missed school -- Evening Edition - Daily Verse

President Trump’s appointment of Jeff Sessions’ chief of staff Matt Whitaker as acting attorney general to temporarily replace Jeff Sessions is generating a lot of hysterical screaming from Democrats, who will not accept anything less than a totally unfettered special counsel.  Of course, Democrats in 2018 react with hysterical screaming to everything relating to Trump, so there’s little reason for Trump or his supporters to take them seriously.

To those who hate Trump, Robert Mueller is GOD, answerable to no one.  He is omnipotent and, if they have their way, is on the path to being omniscient as well.  The work of The Almighty must continue with no limits whatsoever until He finds some reason for a black mark in his Book Of Judgment that can serve as grounds for Trump’s removal from office.  We’ve known for a long time that this is the only thing that matters to Trump’s political enemies.  The Constitution means nothing to them unless they can use it to their own benefit.

"Protect and serve"

By Mike Huckabee

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputy Ron Helus died a hero, diverting the fire of the mass shooter in a Thousand Oaks, California, bar and grill. But he wasn’t the only heroic police officer on the scene, just the only one who was able to engage.

At the link is the story of at least six other unarmed, off-duty officers who just happened to be inside when the shots began, and how they shielded civilians with their own bodies to protect them.

When you hear leftist protesters attacking the police, remember these brave officers and how they literally illustrated the way police put their lives on the line every day by placing themselves between the innocent and those who would prey on them. They don’t even ask what the people they’re protecting think about the police. They just “protect and serve.”

Ranting and raving

By Mike Huckabee

I already shared a couple of these, but here’s an even larger round-up of top Democrats who are now ranting, stirring up protests, and threatening investigations and impeachment over Jeff Sessions’ forced resignation and who just a year or so ago were demanding Jeff Sessions’ forced resignation.

They claim this is because Trump is trying to obstruct and kill the Mueller investigation, which he’s never obstructed since the very beginning  when they told us that firing James Comey (another guy Democrats had demanded be fired) was an attempt to obstruct justice – even thought the investigation has done nothing since but expand, spend millions of taxpayer dollars, and as far as we know, find zero collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia.

You know, I’m beginning to think it doesn’t really matter what Trump does, Democrats are going to scream and protest and launch investigations and claim it’s the “END OF THE WORLD” because they’re as addicted to it as some people are to video games. I just wish if they can’t stop playing this pointless, time-wasting game, they’d use their own quarters to feed their addiction and quit spending mine.

Benton Blount

By Mike Huckabee

Very disappointed to hear that a renegade non-conformist like guitarist Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top seems to endorse trying to kill other musicians’ careers for daring to express a non-leftist snowflake-approved opinion. Let’s hope he steps up for free speech and against censorship of conservatives, which is both bad and nationwide, and reverses this injustice.

In the meantime, I’d like to introduce you to a new musical talent who really is a renegade and a non-conformist. His name is Benton Blount. I think you’re going to like him.

Legally younger

By Mike Huckabee

Emile Ratelband is a 69-year-old retiree in the Netherlands. But in this mixed-up, muddled-up, shook-up world where girls can be boys and boys can be girls, why can’t Emile be 49?

Since people can now legally change their birth certificate to whatever gender they identify as, he’s suing to change his to the age he identifies as. Emile claims he feels and looks 20 years younger than he is, and he’s suffering age discrimination. He thinks he’d score more jobs and dates on Tinder if he were the “Tinder age” of 49. Locals are debating whether he’s mentally disturbed or extremely “woke.” That’s not necessarily an “either/or” situation. The judge admits he has a point legally, but he says if the government moves Emile’s birth date forward, they’d have to delete all the records from the first 20 years of his life, and who would he have been then?

Hold on a minute. As long as we’ve decided we can repeal reality, who says it has to be the first 20 years? Why can’t we erase the year when we had to go through potty training, or the year we had our worst job, or broke our leg or had to take Algebra class? We should all be allowed to pick the 20 worst years we ever had to live through and erase those.

Sure, that would leave us all living in a state of denial, having learned nothing about how to deal with real problems. But as long as we’re heading that way anyway, we might as well be 20 years younger.

They must have missed school

By Mike Huckabee

One of the many dangers of not teaching young people civics and real American history (aside from the newly-elected House) is that they grow up not understanding even the simplest concepts about the Constitution and why our system of government is so brilliant and works so well.  It’s filled with multiple layers of checks and balances to insure that one faction can never seize permanent, unchallengable power over the others.  One way is with the divided branches of government.  Another is the way that the power of population numbers represented by House districts is balanced with equal representation of each state in the Senate.  That way, the House may reflect the passions of the majority, but its rash actions and passing fancies are tempered by the more deliberate and broad-based power of the Senate, representing the interests of all the states equally.

Seriously, that’s about all you need to know to have a basic grasp of the difference between the House and the Senate.  So why in the world are so many “progressives” latching on to the obvious fact that some states have more residents than others but all get only two Senators and waving it around like a bloody flag as some sort of affront to democracy?  No, it really doesn’t matter if California contains more of the “popular vote” than Alaska; that doesn’t mean they should get more Senators, nor that we should abolish the Senate and have pure mob rule. In railing about this “injustice” on Twitter, Amanda Marcotte, who passes as a political analyst at, lamented darkly, “Our country is not a democracy.” No.  No, it isn’t, and was never meant to be. Were you out sick that day in junior high?

It’s no wonder Hillary Clinton was their idol: they all have a basic misunderstanding of what the “popular vote” means (in both the Electoral College and Senate races, it means n-o-t-h-i-n-g, and deliberately so.)

Still, as dumb as this whole new argument is, I have to say, “Bless your heart” to Joy Behar of “The View.”  This is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone blame the fact that densely-populated blue states have the same number of Senators as less populous red states on “gerrymandering.”  The populations of those blue states must be getting really dense.

A wrap-up of all the news you might have missed yesterday!

Daily Verse

"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."

- 1 Peter 3:3-4

Thanks to the law enforcement officers who, even though unarmed, stepped up to protect the other people in the club. A heartfelt thanks to Ventura County Sheriff’s deputy Ron Helus, may he RIP. Condolences to his family, and his law enforcement family. A real hero.

Perhaps you plan on having Benton Blount on your show?, it's going to be, I guess, cumbersome, to erase 20 years of Emile Ratelband's life, even if they just take 20 consecutive years. But, what the heck do they do to all the legal documents over the years of someone who decides to identify a different gender? Do they go back and make changes? And, I'm betting it would be important if said people changed their minds and decided to go back to their original gender. What kind of nightmare would it be to make all these changes--and do they already do that? It should not be a problem working with someone who wants to change his/her age. Hmm...wonder, could a 20 year old decide to identify as 30? And, of course, by the time s/he is 50+, want to identify now as younger? It all gets to be a slippery slope.

It sounds to me like all these "political pundits" and talking heads should go back and review "Schoolhouse Rock." Perhaps those witty ditties are short enough to keep their attention and they just might learning something.

Regarding the ousting of Jim Accosta, when my children screamed, were disrespectful, argumentative, wouldn't listen, refused to share, and hit their sisters, they were sent to their room, and stayed there until they had time to think about their behavior. After an appropriate amount of time, we would talk to the offender, tell them why their actions were wrong, pray with them, then they would apologize to the one they offended. Jim Accosta has consistently acted like a child in these press briefings. Wish someone would have taken him aside while he was young and taught him how to behave appropriately. Might have made a difference in his adult life. I know it did in our adult childrens' lives.
