Congratulations to Chip and Joanna Gaines

January 17, 2018

Congratulations to HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines of “Fixer Upper,” who recently announced that they’re expecting their fifth child. Of course, being Christians and celebrities, this blessed event can’t just be celebrated, it also must be criticized by a bunch of leftist busybodies with Twitter accounts.

At the link, a feminist writer argues that having children and increasing the population endangers the planet and that we need to be having a conversation “to challenge our uncritical acceptance of the life-fulfillment-through-procreation story."

First of all, I think that if anyone is capable of expanding the place where they live to make room for one more baby, it’s Chip and Joanna Gaines – who, by the way, live on a self-sustaining farm. How many of their Earth-loving, urban dwelling liberal critics do that? Secondly, if leftists want to save the planet by not reproducing, they are more than welcome to do so. And thirdly, here is my reply every time a liberal channels Ebenezer Scrooge and declares that there are too many people and we need to reduce the surplus population:

“Okay. You go first.”

That "feminist writer" should start having conversations with the mullahs and imams from the religion of peace, Islam, about their reproductive proclivities. She needs to drag her soapbox to Mecca and start educating those folks.

Well, when you stack the number of Gaines children, against the number of abortions in this country EVERY DAY, and people who have children on purpose who have no intention of supporting them on welfare $$ (because they are spending it on themselves), I don't think naysayers have anything to worry about regarding population explosions or children who will be a drain on society! It's Chip & Joann's choice and business. Besides there aren't ENOUGH children being born actually, because it costs so much to support them! God bless the Gaines'. Keep the babies coming. They need at least one more after this one so it doesn't grow up alone. Six is a nice even number!

Whenever one makes a comment about Ebenezer Scrooge, they need to also remember that at the end of the story he's a redeemed man. Remember the scene in which he meets up with the two men who asked him for a donation for the poor? Do you remember his reply? He said that there were quite a number of back payments included. Therefore, the moral of the story is that he was heartily sorry for his crass and thoughtless behavior. Not only that, he went on to become like a grandfather to Tiny Tim, plus, he paid for whatever was needed so that Tiny Tim would be able to walk again. So...Mr. Scrooge is a man to be respected and honored. Imagine how hard it must have been for him to eat crow and show up for Christmas dinner at his nephew's home. I love this story. I have 9 Christmas Carol films, dating back to the 1938 production. I play every single one every single Christmas. (I know this comment is a little bit late for the 2017 Christmas, but the story is universal and good for any season.)

Chip and Joanna's family size is THEIR business. It's not like they are on welfare, or any of those other people have to support them. The Gaines family participates in their community and give back a lot. Likely more than we know. Those busy-bodies need to mind their own beeswax. Our planet has a lot more sinister things to worry about than a sweet, responsible couple having another baby to love and care for. It would be an awesome world if there were more Chips and Joanas.
