YOU CAN'T BLAME PRESIDENT TRUMP FOR THIS
Some Democratic Mayors and Governors have tried to use the pandemic as cover for draconian crackdowns that violate people’s Constitutional rights and make no logical sense, and the people are letting them know they’re not going to take it. I already told you about the traffic jam protests of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s civil rights-crushing rules, and the sheriffs who refused to enforce them. But rebellion is starting to break out all over…
…even in laid-back Southern California, where cops actually waited on a deserted beach to accost a lone surfer who I guess was spreading the coronavirus to dolphins by hanging ten out in the ocean, far from the nearest human being. The freeways are once again filling with defiant drivers, and about 200 people protested stay-at-home orders with signs calling Governor Gavin Newsom “fascist.” That must’ve hurt, since “progressives” like him think they’re the only ones who are allowed to call people they disagree with politically “fascists.”
Naturally, the Democratic Governors are trying to blame President Trump, accusing him of “fomenting domestic rebellion” by tweeting support of the protesters.
And Whitmer’s media allies like the New York Times are trying to cover for her by depicting the protesters as all being “right-wingers” and Republicans. But a few Twitter tweets won’t spark rebellion, and you don’t have to be in the party of Lincoln to be furious at getting a $500 ticket for attending a drive-in church service inside your own car. Or being told you can go into Walmart and buy tomatoes but not seeds to grow your own tomatoes because that’s “non-essential,” which is actually one of Gov. Whitmer’s inexplicable rules for fighting the coronavirus.
What this actually shows is that Americans are willing to pitch in and make sacrifices for the greater good, but there are limits to their patience, particularly when they suspect that officials are taking advantage of a crisis to expand their power at the expense of the people. These politicians are getting a lesson in what “governing by the consent of the governed” means. Unlike the left’s fever dreams, holding power in America doesn’t mean that you get to shove whatever you want down the people’s throats (unless you’re the Governor of Virginia, apparently.)
It’s amazing, though, how some leftists fail to see the writing on the wall. They still think that this coronavirus crisis, with its government edicts, shuttered economy and big government support payments, has opened the door to their utopian environmentalist/socialist/Big Mother government future. Even Joe Biden, who’s now pandering overtime to Bernie voters, claims that this virus scare has created the opportunity for more “fundamental change,” to kill the fossil fuel industry and create millions of government “green jobs” to stop global warming.
In fact, I believe this period of economic stagnation, joblessness and dependence on government accompanied by all the leftist politicians using it to expand their power, bully the public and violate their rights, has given Americans a chilling preview of what life under “Democratic socialism” would really be like. They now believe it would be worse than a deadly pandemic or apocalyptic climate change (incidentally, after those computer models falsely predicted millions of Americans would die of the virus, good luck selling climate change based on computer models.)
The leftists may think this is ushering in a glorious new socialist/green utopia, but for most people, one month was more than enough of it. I’d say your vision for America's future isn’t all that popular when most people say, “I’d rather take my chances with a potentially deadly virus than put up with one more day of this garbage.”
Tomorrow will mark the 25th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, when a truck bomb destroyed the Murrah Federal Building, killing 168 people, including 19 children. As we remember that terrible tragedy and say a prayer for the victims and those who are still grieving the loss of their loved ones, we should also remember the hard lessons we learned from that terrible day, like the need for constant vigilance against the enemies of America, both foreign and domestic. And as this blog post reminds us, not to put too much trust in the wisdom of media “experts,” because most of them got that story completely wrong from the get-go.
BRIAN DENNEHY REST IN PEACE
I'm sad to report the death of veteran actor Brian Dennehy, who passed away Wednesday at 81. Over a long and distinguished career, the burly actor won raves and awards for everything from stage plays by Shakespeare and Chekhov to his many TV and movie roles, including “Semi-Tough,” “Rambo: First Blood,” “Presumed Innocent,” “10,” “Tommy Boy” and “Cocoon,” and many more that will live on for future generations. Our condolences to his family.

WEEKEND FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Weekend Food for Thought: Was the COVID-19 coronavirus created in a Chinese lab that it escaped rather than transmitted from bats to humans? One man is arguing that it clearly was. Detractors accuse him of being a conspiracy theorist, but considering that Dr. Luc Montagnier won the Nobel Prize for medicine for discovering HIV as the cause of AIDS, it might be worth hearing him out. He believes the virus was created not as a bioweapon but to research an AIDS cure, as its genome shows it contains sequences of HIV, which would have had to be inserted in a lab. He said Indian researchers reached the same conclusion, but were pressured into withdrawing their findings.
Dr. Montagnier says there’s a positive side to this, in that genetically-manipulated viruses don’t survive long. Also, he says the real conspiracy mongers are the people trying to silence anyone who questions China’s official story.
You can read more at the link and see if you agree. But if not, don’t try to claim that it’s because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
