“...Having tried the President for treason and [seeing him] found not guilty, they now want to get him for shoplifting and execute him anyway.”

That was Darrell Issa on Maria Bartiromo’s show on Easter Sunday, and he just about nailed it. Of course, a perfect analogy would mention that the President didn’t even ‘shoplift’; he only thought about it (as in, firing Mueller) and, after getting a dose of reality from his lawyers, ultimately decided not to do it. He obstructed nothing. Just the oppostite: Trump ended up being amazingly transparent with investigators, turning over about 1.4 million documents, never invoking executive privilege and even, in effect, waiving attorney-client privilege by allowing his attorney to talk with investigators for over 30 hours.

But remember, the Democrats –- even former high government officials who for some reason still had their security clearances –- spun some big tales and made sure that President Trump was investigated for TREASON. They flat-out lied and accused him of being an agent of Vladimir Putin. (I realize they don’t like his tweets, but, really, a firing squad??) They’ve been yammering about this for so long that I think many Americans have lost sight of the atomic magnitude of such an accusation.

And, of course, the media played along, with fake story after fake story and constant “treason” hype. (They should be embarrassed right now but they’re not, or at least they hide it well. With few exceptions, they’re just getting pricklier and are doubling down.) They all thought that surely the special counsel would be able to get Trump on...something...but there was just nothing. So Mueller had to produce “Part II” of his report on “obstruction” as a gift to Trump’s accusers, still containing nothing substantial but phrased in a way that left the door open to more accusation, more investigation and maybe impeachment.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

The truly important news

By Mike Huckabee

From me, my staff and family, we wish you a safe and joyous Passover and Easter. At the link is the President’s holiday message…

And while the cable news channels may fill the airwaves with yammering about nonexistent collusion and obstruction, this is the truly important news this weekend:

Matthew 27:65-66: "Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

Excellent piece

By Mike Huckabee

When it comes to the Mueller report, Mark Penn, pollster and adviser to President Clinton at the time he was going through impeachment, gets it EXACTLY RIGHT --- which is to say, it’s just what we’ve been saying. Very worthwhile reading…

Not a very Happy Earth Day for this one-time darling

By Mike Huckabee

Not a very happy Earth Day for this one-time darling of the environmental movement who was even honored by the Clinton Foundation.  It just goes to show that if you want to get rich in “clean energy” and get away with it, don’t rip off private investors for millions, rip off the taxpayers.

Prayers for Sri Lanka

By Mike Huckabee

I hope you will join me in saying prayers for the victims of the horrific terrorist attack on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka.  A domestic radical Islamic group is believed to be behind a series of seven suicide bombings at three hotels, two churches and St. Anthony’s shrine that killed at least 290 people and injured over 500 more.  The shrine was a popular spot for tourists, and at least 27 visitors from foreign countries are among the dead, including several Americans.

Sri Lankan authorities say the attacks appear to be right out of the ISIS/al-Qaeda jihadist handbook, fomenting religious hatred by targeting churches on a high holiday.  At this writing, 13 suspects are in custody. This is a developing story, so watch out for more news, but until then, please remember to keep the victims and all the good people of Sri Lanka in your prayers.

Washington state takes the prize

By Laura Ainsworth

Today is “Earth Day,” which started in 1970.  But the environmental movement has become such an industry/propaganda machine since then that virtually everything is now promoted every day as something you must do to “save the Earth,” from letting your groceries roll around bagless in the back seat of your electric car to spending trillions of dollars to cure bovine flatulence to taking a jet 5,000 miles to an environmental conference to talk about how to reduce CO2 emissions.

But I think Washington State has to take the prize with its new law allowing people to put the remains of their dead relatives in their garden compost heaps.

You might suspect they got this idea from the movie “Fargo,” but actually, as the Instapundit blog reminds us, it goes all the way back to the self-proclaimed founder of Earth Day, who took it way too far.

Quotes from our Presidents

“Times change, and we change with them.”

Tweeting about Romney

By Mike Huckabee

Glad to see that people notice my tweets.  This story is about two of them: my response to Sen. Mitt Romney, who seems to prefer trashing the President he cozied up to for a job rather than criticizing the other Party’s attempted coup to overturn the election…and a link to a column by Democratic pollster Mark Penn, who understands what the Mueller report is really about (especially the "obstruction" half that, as Penn points out, shouldn't even exist) a lot better than some Republicans I could name.

For those Democrats who continue to scream for impeachment over “obstruction of justice,” can they please first define what they mean by that term?  Because here’s how it looks from where I sit:

Being angry enough over having your Administration hamstrung and your family and staff threatened by partisan investigators accusing you of something you know you never did that you consider firing them, but ultimately don’t:  “OBSTRUCTION!”

Taking an email server that’s under subpoena, erasing it, scrubbing every bit of data off it with BleachBit and pounding it with a hammer:  “NOT OBSTRUCTION!”

April Ryan gets it wrong

By Mike Huckabee

It appears that someone else also follows me on Twitter.  CNN’s April Ryan accused me of inciting violence against her because I asked whether CNN or the White House Correspondents’ Association would deal with her incitement to murder of my daughter by saying on TV that her head should be “lopped off.”

As you can see at the link, she also questions my religious faith, says I won’t get into Heaven, then ups the threatening rhetoric by adding, “As your people come for me! My people see you and will do the same for you!"

This is the latest defense tactic of people on the left who are called out for outrageous comments or outright lies: accuse the people who point out their foul behavior of inciting violence against them to make them immune from criticism.  We’ve seen it most prominently from defenders of Rep. Ilhan Omar, who is now supposed to be given a free pass for anti-Semitic statements because criticizing them might inspire some nutjob to threaten her.

For the record: I have been writing news commentaries for over 10 years, and in all that time, I have repeatedly and consistently urged people to listen to the other side and respond intellectually and factually, not violently or emotionally.  I have said it about both the left and the right.  I have criticized President Trump when I thought his rhetoric went beyond the pale.  In every TV remote, I make sure that the “Come let us reason together” plaque in my office is on full display.

But I am also a father who has had to watch as my daughter has been vilified, threatened and even forced to leave a public restaurant, all because of unhinged leftists, whipped into a frenzy by “news” media figures who long ago abandoned any pretense of objectivity or professionalism in their pursuit of being fulltime DNC mouthpieces.

I would be willing to consider that maybe “lopping their heads off” was simply a metaphor for firing, if there weren’t already a thriving subset of leftists who use violence and threats to try to intimidate political opponents and media figures they disagree with (ask Tucker Carlson or any college Republican), groups which haven’t received a fraction of the negative media coverage accorded to people who simply work in the Trump White House.  Also, if it weren’t so ironic that Ms Ryan was calling for my daughter to be fired over a slip of the tongue while claiming that her violent way of expressing it was simply a misunderstood figure of speech.

(Speaking of that, here’s a report from the Daily Caller, which did what real journalists would do: they talked to some FBI agents to find out if they really did approve of James Comey’s firing):

It also might be more persuasive if the calls for my daughter’s firing for allegedly saying something that wasn’t 100% literally true didn’t come from a media outlet that’s spent two full years lying 24/7 about “Russian collusion” and even accused Sarah of not baking her own pies.

For the record, I have never, nor would I ever, call for nor condone violence against anyone for disagreeing with my political views.  I would appreciate the same courtesy from people who claim to be professional journalists.  More to the point, I think Ms Ryan’s employer might appreciate some more professional conduct from all its on-air talent, since the viewing public is obviously getting pretty sick of this circus as well.

"....respond intellectually and factually, not violently or emotionally." Actually have read 'somewhere:' "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matthew 5:39

Probably too much 'turning of the cheek' would simply leave you too swollen to see, or probably speak? In my case, much of that 'turning the other cheek' was NOT the instructions I received in the Marine Corps! That 'instruction' ran more to "kill them, before they loot your country, and have their way with your mother, sister, or girlfriend!" Parris Island DI Being simply a mortal human, I quake at questioning God; however, I am likely to continue doing that, as long as, though I pray constantly to do so, He does not let me see through that "glass more clearly." Evil succeeds when 'good people' DO NOTHING.

Said all that to say, ALLOWING the demented to run amok, or more, run the country amok, even using violence or advocating for it, is WHY America is where she is today. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson To say that America just avoided, by their chinny chin chin, an attempted Coup d'état on its sitting president, is as SERIOUS as that sounds!

Don't take my word for it Pay: Members of Congress set their own pay as an average receive a tidy $174,000 salary, which is automatically adjusted each year based on changes in the employment cost index (maybe held back in 2010). If you’re a House or Senate leader, you get more. The Speaker of the House gets $223,500, while both minority and majority leaders in the House and Senate take home $193,400. To put that in perspective, the U.S. Census Bureau reports that just 5.1 million Americans earn more than $150,000 annually out of the nation’s 240.1 million workers. That means members of Congress earn more than 97 (97.47%), of the country. This DOES NOT count the “benefits” of free postage, trips, office staff, rent, etc…etc… etc....The CONgress makes more than $435.00 an hour (pay/benefits)…… figure out IF CONgress falls into the 1 percenters. Funny, how this “basic pay without benefits” is just below the “targeted 1 percenters.”
