2020 Democrat candidates not impressive

November 27, 2017

A Democratic strategist is handicapping the leading party candidates for 2020 (a dumb idea: this far out, who would’ve predicted that Barack Obama would be the nominee in 2008, or Donald Trump in 2016?) But just for fun’s sake: he’s concerned that there’s no big star in the bunch. Looking at names like Senators Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris, he said there are a lot of Celine Dions, but no Beatles.

This illustrates one of the biggest problems with politics today, and the Democrats in particular: the “cult of personality” trap. The leading Dem candidates have plenty of weaknesses (some are older than dirt, others think socialism actually works, etc.), but their strategists’ biggest concern is the lack of star quality. If you want a star, run Kevin Spacey: he’s plenty liberal, and his schedule is probably pretty open for the foreseeable future.

But how about considering this for a weakness? It’s the most difficult and important executive job in the world, and not a single one of those people has five minutes of executive experience. The only thing they’ve ever run is their mouths. Liberals claim Trump is unqualified, but he ran a multi-billion-dollar, international business empire for decades. The only thing they could name that Obama had run was his own presidential campaign.

As the ratings for the Emmy and Oscar Awards have shown, Americans are tired of being lectured to by charismatic liberals with no real world knowledge or experience. Frankly, I think this strategist owes an apology to Celine Dion. She’s run her career very successfully for many years, providing employment for a platoon of musicians, dancers, roadies, accountants and more. That makes her far more qualified to be a chief executive than Liz, Bernie or Kamala.

    Hi, Mike.
I'm concerned that Pres Trump is not going to Alabama to campaign for Judge Moore. We need to keep that seat and all I've read shows the democrat leading. If you agree, please consider using your access to encourage him to go to Alabama.
    Thanks. Jim

We cannot vote for any republican/Democrat uniparty member in 2018...we need all new senators to be dedicated to the constitution and to our way of life. You are well aware that Paul Ryan and Mitch are completely useless so please do all you can to spread the word that they should step down or be run out.

I love your comments and humor. Living in California ( land of the fruits and nuts) Republicans and Independents haven't been strong enough YET to defeat the Liberal, Socialistic, PC, Party. I am with that lady who is wishing for new California leaders in Congress in the Senate,
Our Democratic new girl seems to be getting advice Diane and going no where. I think our Senators need to get pink slips. If Californians sick and tired of these people;should Unite and send them pink slips .

On behalf of those honorable Native American Code-Talker Veterans, I request that President Donald J. Trump apologize to the Honorees for intruding on their valuable time with idiot, off-message remarks. Such behavior leaves his SpokesPerson in a defensive stance; totally not necessary. He has the IQ to behave better; please remind him.

Kamala Harris is the anointed one from California. No experience but neither did Barbara Boxer. I'm a Native Son born in 1930 and the only republican on my block. I hope to see a republican senator from California but doubt that will ever happen sigh. . .. . .

Hi Governor Huckabee; Thank you for keeping us informed & updated with the facts. Your newsletters have been wonderful & sometimes even funny. Watched your show this pass Sunday-entertaining as usual. You had a segment where you answered questions. I totally agree all government positions should have term limits. I wish to ask two questions now. I hope it is alright.
    1) why weren't the NFL protesting when Obama was president? They had 8 years, why NOW???
    2) We the people pay all politicians salaries-We are their employers-Then how come the employees get to tell us their employer what to do.
If we elected to repeal Obamacare that's what we want. If we want equal justice under the law-we mean everyone. So if the people say you have to pass a bill-then PASS IT! Let the politicians get 2 weeks off only like the rest of us.
Thanks for reading Mike. God Bless you & your family

HEY GOVERNOR , THANKS FOR ALWAYS BEING STRAIGHT WITH US. IT IS SO REFRESHING TO GET THE UNVARNISHED TRUTH!!!

AS TO THE LADY IN VIRGINIA - IT'S ALSO UNLAWFUL IN (SURPRISE) CALIFORNIA TO RECORD SOMEONE WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION. I HAD TO STOP A STUDENT WHO WAS GOING TO TAPE HIS TEACHER WHO SAID HORRIBLE THINGS TO HER CLASSES. ACCORDING TO CA LAW I WOULD HAVE HAD TO HAVE HIM ARRESTED!!!!! (SHE EVENTUALLY GOT FIRED BUT IT TOOK US 3 YEARS TO DO IT)

    Pelosi:
Interesting. This representative (small "R") believes that her man "deserves due process", and Judge Roy Moore doesn't??? What ever happened to the presumption of innocence in this country....for everyone!?? Is not a man presumed guilty elsewhere until he proves himself otherwise, where there are NO Democrats or Republicans, or is it only the liberals (read Democrats) who view protection under the law a partisan thing pertaining only to themselves? To the Democrats, people they favor are only "alleged" when accused, but they would have us believe that those with whom they do not agree are GUILTY at the point of accusation, if only to further their own ends. Or is it only the Democrats who deserve "DUE PROCESS"?

I could do a better job as President than half the names being thrown around at this time. Mike, you run as President and I will run as your Vice President. We would make a good team.

I WONDER IF PRESIDENT TRUMP OPENNED A CAN OF WORMS BY HELPING THE BASKET BALL PLAYERS IN CHINA. NOW PARENTS IN THE USA WILL BE CALLING HIM IF ANY OF THEIR CHILDREN HAVE A SITUATION IN CHINA

It is a pitiful and sorrowful day when the best the Democrat party can come up with are the names mentioned above. I pray to God that our eyes be opened to the foolishness that these people would bring to the White House and our country. Please don't misunderstand, I don't hold any hatred toward them but I feel the have no business holding the office of President. This country was not founded on the principles by which they stand and I personally believe this country was given to us through the grace of our Heavenly Father just as the Hebrews were given the land of Judah and Israel. If we continue to go down the path these people wish to take us, I am afraid this country will have a very short time to exist. The constant attacks upon our Constitution, a document that I believe has the hand of God in it, will only increase if those of the mind these are are allowed to lead. My prayer is for revival of this country, that we get back to the principals set forth by our forefathers that had a fear and respect for God.

the comment is correct. All the dems have are corrupt, and inept politicians. The dems are so riddled with inept and dishonest people that a viable candidate is non-existent. Creepy Joe, Hilary? ick! Mark Cuban, dumb. After Hilary, Bernie and Tim Kaine, everyone is creepy. I can truly say the last democrat I thought was FIT to vote for was Adlai Stevenson and you know when THAT was. The dems have shown over the last year they don't have anyone fit to be prez. Time to make them history.

Agreed. I also think that campaigns should only last 4mos. IM sick to death of three or four years of unfulfilled promises and politics of destruction introduced by the clintons, big time. Let’s force them to have a platform. Donald Trump had one and still does, we once had citizen reps now we have lifers, like we were sentenced to prison time. I believe citizens would pay better attention if new choices were put forward more often. Lets give our brightest and most eager citizen reps a chance to shine. They live out here in little town USA and know what we need. 40 yrs in senate or congress is an insult to thinking people. Voting should start at age 30. Adulthood not 18 still in childhood. Mom n dad r still paying there bills.sorry to ramble
