Today's Commentary --- Winds of change spell disaster for "deep state" schemers -- Hurricane Florence update -- Justice Thomas comments on Booker-- Today in Fake News -- Huck's criminal mastermind -- This is CNN -- Evening Edition - Daily Verse

The winds are blowing, and I don’t just mean Hurricane Florence. These winds spell disaster for both the “deep state” strategists and the Democratic Party faithful –- in government and in media –- who have been conspiring and breaking laws left and right to keep Trump from exercising power.

There’s a change in the air, though I doubt you’ll get a sense of it over the airwaves if you watch CNN or MSNBC. I usually don’t like to count my chickens before they come home to roost, but it does seem that all the effort Judicial Watch has made for many months, trying to pry documents out of the cold bureaucratic hands of the FBI, is finally reaping rewards. A few undeterred reporters have also been on the case, too, for a long time, and the release of perhaps the most significant evidence of outright criminality appears to be happening at last. Thankfully, as autumn approaches, the harvest season appears to have begun, as we’ve now had four days in a row of revealing messages from the texting “gap” of former FBI counterintelligence officer Peter Strzok and former FBI attorney Lisa Page.

We could get used to this. Breakfast without new Strzok-Page texts is like a day without sunshine --- and you know sunshine is the best disinfectant.

Hurricane Florence update

By Mike Huckabee

At this writing, Hurricane Florence is expected to make landfall within hours near Wilmington, North Carolina.  Thankfully, the storm weakened considerably to a Category 1 hurricane before coming ashore, but its effects on the ocean swells and its remaining power still make it a very dangerous storm, likely to bring damaging winds and severe flooding to a wide area.  So if you are in its path, please heed any official warnings about evacuation or preparation.

And for gosh sakes, do not go out into it!  At the link is more information about the storm from Fox News, including video footage of weather reporter Griff Jenkins showing the power of the storm by standing on a dock in Morehead City, North Carolina, as it blows in.  I work in the media and I still don’t understand why weather reporters try to convince us that we should never go out into a dangerous storm by going out and standing in the middle of a dangerous storm.

Just a thought: since the Washington Post tried to blame President Trump for Hurricane Florence being a category 5 storm when it was out at sea, are they going to give him credit for it dropping to a category 1 before it came ashore in America?

I also wonder, if the damage in the hurricane’s aftermath is, as we all hope and pray, less than predicted, will Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez credit Trump for that?  It seems only fair, considering he blamed Trump for all the future damage from the storm’s aftermath several days ago, when it was still out to sea.

Justice Thomas comments on Booker

By Mike Huckabee

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is known for being taciturn, for keeping his opinions to himself and letting his written rulings speak for him.  But last week’s Brett Kavanaugh SCOTUS confirmation hearings, where Senate Democrats turned one of the most important functions of government into a revival of “Laugh In” without the laughs, was too much for even the normally close-mouthed Justice Thomas to let pass without comment.

And when he does make a public comment, it’s always worth listening to, especially this time.  I won’t even excerpt it because you need to see the video or read everything he said about how the legitimacy of pubic institutions can only be maintained when the people entrusted with them act with integrity, honesty, ethics, morals, honor and respect for the law instead of comparing themselves to Spartacus. Sen. Booker, that rap you just felt was Justice Thomas’ gavel conking you on the head from afar.

Today in Fake News

By Mike Huckabee

Today in Fake News: The New York Times slammed UN Ambassador Nikki Haley for spending over $50,000 for custom mechanized curtains for the official ambassador’s residence in New York. Former Obama officials were quick to pile on with the criticism of her spendthrift ways.  Oh, one thing the Times failed to mention: those curtains were installed last year, under a purchase order approved in 2016 by the Obama Administration.

If the Times is still America’s “paper of record,” it must be a broken record.

Huck's criminal mastermind

By Mike Huckabee

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a genuine Huck’s Criminal Mastermind, but this would-be armed robber in Aurora, Colorado, made Woody Allen in “Take the Money and Run” look like a master thief by comparison.  I don’t want to ruin the hilarious surprises in the surveillance video, so let me just say that it’s a rare occurrence when having your pants fall down to your ankles is only the second-most embarrassing thing that happens to you at your job.  Since this is Colorado, I can’t help wondering if maybe he was robbing that store to get money for more legal marijuana.

This is CNN

By Mike Huckabee

This is CNN: The Daily Caller reports that after CNN's correspondents mocked and dismissed as a “conspiracy theory” President Trump’s claim that Google's search results are biased against him and Republicans, CNN devoted zero air time or Internet space to the leaked hour-long video of top Google executives lamenting Trump’s win and Hillary’s loss, and its top “journalists” didn’t mention it in their Twitter feeds.  The video revealed weepy Google suits comparing Trump voters to extremists who support communists and fascists and saying that Google must “use the great strength and resources and reach we have to continue to advance really important values” and to insure that this populist movement is merely “a blip, a hiccup.”

To be fair, CNN had other important news to cover, like the hurricane and how it’s Trump’s fault.

The response by liberal media outlets that did actually cover the video is that it merely showed the personal reactions of Google executives, it didn’t prove they bias their work product.  My response to that: if you worked at CNN, and you knew that a restaurant chef hated CNN as much as the people who run Google plainly hate Trump, would you swallow the food they served you?

Eilene is my kind of gal. Booker should be banned from appearing in Public let alone allowed to serve in a position of responsibility. His actions deny him any claim of credibility or to be able to behave as an actual adult. His IQ should be tested to see if it registers.
