Today's Edition

It took a long time for Svetlana Lokhova, the Moscow-born woman who was falsely implicated in the media of compromising Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and having an affair with him, to put the pieces together and figure out how she was used to bring him down. But thanks in part to the digging by Flynn’s attorney, Sidney Powell, and revelations about the mysterious Stefan Halper’s role as conduit between intel officials and certain water-carrying reporters, she thinks she has figured it out.

Chapter 2 of Lee Smith’s new book “THE PLOT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT: The True Story of How Congressman Devin Nunes Uncovered the Biggest Political Scandal in US History,” sets the stage by going into detail about why Obama and his State Department didn’t want Flynn around. This seasoned general did not shrink from challenging policies with which he found fault. Most significantly, Flynn strongly disagreed with Obama on the Iran nuclear deal, and Obama absolutely could not tolerate anyone or anything getting in the way of that (terrible as it was). The administration wanted Flynn gone long before Trump came down the escalator and announced his candidacy for President, let alone got elected, let alone named Flynn as his national security advisor. By then, of course, Obama could see the writing on the wall and knew that Trump would be going in another direction, one that would completely change course from what he'd been doing in the Mideast. (Of course, by then, tremendous damage had been done. But I digress.)

Flynn had become an obvious threat to the existing intelligence community by 2010, when he published an article called “Fixing Intel: A Blueprint for Making Intelligence Relevant in Afghanistan.” To sum it up, Flynn thought the bureaucracy was “clueless” (his word) when it came to what was happening in the field; by the time information as sent to Washington and channeled through all the levels of hierarchy, it might be too late for soldiers on the battlefield, who needed to be able to use intelligence on the spot. He wanted to minimize the intel bureaucracy’s role. As Smith writes, “his proposed revolution threatened the budgets, jobs, and prestige of thousands of spies who constituted the intelligence bureaucracy.”

To put it mildly, the intelligence bureaucracy did not like this.

New Project Veritas expose

By Mike Huckabee

There was so much election news to cover on Wednesday, I didn’t get around to the latest Project Veritas expose: a video of ABC News anchor Amy Robach, apparently caught on a hot mic talking to her producer last August.

She was complaining about how angry she was that all the Jeffrey Epstein pedophilia/sexual abuse revelations were coming out when she’d had that story years before and ABC higher-ups quashed it. Robach said she'd finally convinced Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts to come out of hiding for an interview, and her report included accusations about Bill Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew. But Buckingham Palace threatened ABC in a “million ways,” and they were so afraid of being cut off from interviewing Prince William and his wife Kate that they quashed the story.

Robach complained, “It was unbelievable what we had — Clinton, we had everything. I tried for three years to get it on, to no avail, and now it’s all coming out, and it’s like these new revelations and I freaking had all of it.” But her ABC bosses told her nobody knew who Epstein was and it was “a stupid story.” She also says she believes “a hundred percent” that he was killed, adding, “He made his whole living blackmailing people.”

Now, I’m sure you can see why I thought it wasn’t urgent that I tell you about that. In a media world filled with fake “bombshells,” that is a bona fide 100-megaton atomic warhead. I figured it would be blaring from every news channel, so it could wait. But aside from Fox News, most “news outlets” circled the wagons and dropped the Cone of Silence.

ABC’s only response was that the story didn’t meet their editorial standards (and Trump supporters know how high THOSE are! Tell it to Brett Kavanaugh.) The closest any of them came to reporting it was when CNN’s Brian Stelter mentioned it in his email newsletter, but only to criticize Republicans for talking about it. Also, Huffington Post and New York magazine writer Yashar Ali wrote in his newsletter that ABC thinks they’ve identified the leaker of the video who’s now working for CBS and told CBS, but it’s not clear if that person will face reprisals (hey, wait: I thought we must defend whistleblowers at all cost, not identify and punish them!)

This whole story makes me disgusted, not just at the blatant journalistic bias but at the fact that it was in service of covering up some of the most vile (alleged!) sexual crimes by powerful elites since the days of Caligula. Even Ms Robach appears more upset that she lost the scoop than that powerful sexual abusers went unpunished and unexposed.

At the link, Ed Driscoll of PJ Media has a terrific, must-read round-up of this whole sordid cover-up. You should read every word, even though I warn you, you’ll want to wash your eyes out afterward, and then wash your hands of our entire liberal media establishment along with several prominent public figures.

I wanted to make sure you also read these comments:

So, just to get this straight: Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn can have his life, reputation, career and finances destroyed for allegedly lying to federal investigators by not getting details correct about his memories of people he’d talked to – but after 18 months in court, his prosecutors finally admit they’d reversed the names of the agents whose account of what he said is supposed to be rock-solid enough to send him to prison?

I’m just going to direct you to this for now, but rest assured, we’ll be coming back to it later.

Impeachment Flea Circus Update: A transcript has been released of testimony by one of Adam Schiff’s top anti-Trump witnesses, William Taylor of the US Embassy in Ukraine. This was touted by being devastating to Trump, but Republicans claimed his testimony had been destroyed in 90 seconds of cross-examination. We now know why Schiff is so desperate to keep these hearings secret and to prevent Republicans from being able to cross-examine.

Here’s what the transcript shows: Taylor’s belief that Trump wanted a quid pro quo from Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden wasn’t based on anything Trump said to him. That’s because he’s never spoken to Trump...or to Rudy Guiliani...or to Trump Chief of Staff Mike Mulvaney.

Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin asked Taylor. “But if I understand this correctly, you’re telling us that Tim Morrison told you that Ambassador Sondland told him that the president told Ambassador Sondland that Zelensky would have to open an investigation into Biden?” Taylor said, “That’s correct.”

Taylor also admitted that he’d never seen a transcript of the Trump-Zelensky phone call until Trump declassified and released it himself, and his only source for his beliefs about what Trump was doing was (drumroll, please!)...the New York Times!

Of course, if you want to know what Trump is really thinking, it’s not necessary to talk to Trump. Just read the New York Times. They know what he really thinks better than than he does. Just ask them.

PS – Mollie Hemingway at The Federalist has an update on how well the Democrats’ impeachment jihad is going (spoiler alert: not well.) Polls show that support for impeachment that had been blown up by unquestioning media coverage of the Democrats’ charges is now starting to deflate as the public wakes up to the fact that the balloon was filled with nothing but hot air.

Bible Verse of the Day (KJV)

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

Thank God for you Gov. Huckabee...…..all of these elites with their supporters in Hollywood and Academia and the Media will all find out that St. Paul was telling the truth when he said....And we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ. He is not lying. So I always pray...Lord Jesus when I meet you at the hour of death, I pray that it will be out of love not fear....with faith not peace not anxiety and as a friend and not a stranger. Amen. These elites who want to rule the world will find that the last thing they will really do is be buried in the world. For Paul also told us it is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgement. God Bless you Gov. Huckabee.

Just before I clicked on this newsletter, I read a Blaze article that the CBS employee who allegedly leaked the ABC video (when she worked at ABC?) has been fired. I must admit, I had to read it several times trying to get it through my ABC, figure out how both worked into the story. I guess Amy Robach saved her job with her befuddled explanation which was repeated by a befuddled explanation by ABC. The interview didn't meet their high expectation? I had to pick myself up off the floor after that, and clean up the coffee I spewed out.

I love it that shiff's further attemp at secrecy is not going well. Wonder at what point the democrats will change their minds about the rules--and not only not let Republicans cross examine, but maybe not even let them in the room!!! At some point, they surely have to GIVE. IT. UP. The whole nine yards. Of course, they will continue to dig through that manure pile--if nothing else but to try to keep everything the democrats have done (and are probably still doing) to be left under a pile of blankets. I still maintain that, whatever the democrats come up with to accuse the President or any one in his administration past or present, anyone associated with him once he announced he was running---it doesn't take Gregg Jarret or Sarah Carter or Dan Bongino and fellow INVESTIGATIVE people very long to dig up which democrats have been the ones doing whatever.
