Today's Commentary ---  The "plague" of leftism is evident in our filthy cities  --- More evidence Hillary's "investigation" was bogus, and the Mueller report is, too -- A day of prayer for the President ---- Some important statistics about immigration -- The cost of a burrito --- A new Democrat slogan   -- A new revenue stream for California --- Evening Edition -- Daily Verse

If you want to see the results of leftist policies, go to the cities that are run by the most elite, wealthy and “progressive” people, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, where homelessness, filth and disease are taking over. The scene is shocking and heartbreaking.

In an appearance on Monday’s HANNITY, I pointed out that this is the kind of thing that used to be seen only in Third World countries. For decades, we could be confident that we had eradicated serious diseases such as plague and typhus. But today, the rat infestation is so serious that police officers (five at this writing) in the central LA area are coming down with typhus, and some medical experts suspect that bubonic plague is present. BUBONIC PLAGUE. You know, the “Black Death” from medieval times that wiped out about a third of Europe’s population and lingered for centuries. In the 1600s, during the Great Plague of London, one in five residents died.

With gratitude,

More evidence Hillary's "investigation" was bogus, and the Mueller report is, too

By Mike Huckabee

Judicial Watch is at it again, breaking news about the laughable FBI “investigation” into Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email server for classified State Department business. Monday evening, JW finally acquired another 200 or so more messages (these were emails) exchanged between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI attorney Lisa Page that showed the FBI completely failed to make the “302” notes that were supposed to have documented at least four significant interviews with key witnesses in the Hillary case. I mean, there is just no record of these interviews, and that is highly unusual. The new Strzok/Page messages also show –- but we knew this –- that when Hillary was testifying, she had two of her own people in the room with her. Of those, Cheryl Mills was a witness in the case and also acting as Hillary’s attorney.

A day of prayer for the President

By Mike Huckabee

Sunday, Americans across the nation took part in a day of prayer for the President.  I talked about this on my TBN show this weekend.  The idea was suggested by the Rev. Franklin Graham.  Naturally, it was attacked and misrepresented by the left, but it was not a partisan political event or an attempt to claim God’s support for any particular policies.  It was just to ask God to bless and guide the man who leads our nation, that he will be safe and make good and wise decisions in these dangerous times.  As Graham said, “The Bible instructs us to pray for those who are in authority,” and if the President succeeds, we all benefit, while if he is torn down and fails, it harms our entire nation.

On Sunday, President Trump was in Virginia Beach and took time to attend a local church to pray for the victims of Friday’s horrific shooting.  The pastor invited him to come up, and he gave a wonderful example of how to pray for a President that is not partisan or political but that reminds us all of what is truly important. It was a prayer for wisdom, safety and guidance, not just for the President but for his family and for all officials in Congress and the courts.  This is what it looks like when we put aside the partisan hatred and divisiveness and let what Abraham Lincoln called “the better angels of our nature” take the lead.

At this link are some excerpts from that prayer and a must-see video.  Imagine how much better off America could be, and how much less hatred and divisiveness we would feel, if only everyone would just listen to these words and bear them in mind every day instead of taking their cues from angry Twitter tweets and 24-hour “news” channels.

Some important statistics about immigration

By Mike Huckabee

If you listened to some people, you’d think that the Trump Administration hates immigrants and wants to build a wall around the entire country.  But as I’ve said many times, the left can’t win an argument using the facts as they stand, so they have to create their own set of facts and constantly redefine words.  This is how, in their parlance, “illegal aliens” became “immigrants” and violent, drug-pushing criminal illegal aliens in the MS-13 gang became “all Mexicans.”  It’s meant to paint Trump as a racist/white supremacist just for trying to enforce immigration laws that both parties passed, and it’s worked with a lot of people.

But if you’re one of those rare folks who is still concerned with actual facts, you might find this interesting:  A narrative-shattering new report from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services shows more people became American citizens in fiscal year 2018 than any time in the past five years. (Reminder: that timespan includes the Obama Administration.)

USCIS, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security, released a statement reading, “In the last fiscal year, USCIS adjudicated more than eight million requests for immigration benefits, which is a 28 percent increase over the last five fiscal years. USCIS also helped make the American dream become a reality for 757,000 new citizens, a five-year high in new oaths of citizenship.”

The numbers reflect a 6% increase in the number of naturalizations from 2017 to 2018, as well as a 61% increase in the number of immigrants granted asylum. Wait, I thought that when immigrants requested asylum, Trump personally ripped their children from their arms and put them into dog pounds? Well, maybe that slander stems from this stat:  the Fraud Detection and National Security division also followed up on 149,300 leads in 2018, a 14 percent increase over 2017.  Detecting fraud is not something many Trump critics are too keen on, whether it’s asylum claim fraud or their own fraudulent claims and investigations.

Speaking of fraud, the charge that Trump hates immigrants is plainly fraudulent, as proved not only by these numbers but by his own actions and words.  At the link above is a video of him hosting a naturalization ceremony at the White House where he warmly welcomed new citizens.  He told them:

“By taking this oath, you have forged a sacred bond with this nation, its traditions, its culture, and its values. This heritage is now yours to protect, promote, and pass down to the next generation and to the next wave of newcomers to our shores. Our history is now your history. Our traditions are now your traditions. And our Constitution is now yours to safeguard, celebrate, and cherish.”

Immigrants who gladly go through the entire difficult process of becoming US citizens understand that, which is why it’s insulting to assume that they’ll vote for anyone who supports illegal immigration by giving the rights they worked so hard to earn to people who disrespected and evaded our system.  I have talked to many who see that as a slap in the face to them and to their adopted home.

As Trump said, these immigrants love America and want to adopt our culture and traditions as their own.  Knowing better than natural-born Americans what it’s like to live under socialism or other systems that don’t respect individual rights, they fervently want to safeguard, celebrate and cherish the Constitution.

Going by that, I’d say it’s no wonder Trump’s critics want to redefine the word “immigrants.” They have very little in common with immigrants as traditionally defined.

The cost of a burrito

By Mike Huckabee

Wouldn’t you know it?  President Trump just announced tariffs on Mexico if they don’t do more to fight the flood of illegal immigrants into the US, and already CNN is trying to panic Americans by warning that this could cause the cost of a burrito at Chipotle to rise by a whole nickel.

Funny how little coverage we hear from liberal news outlets about the effects of imposing a $15 minimum wage on fast food outlets, but that extra nickel per burrito is the last straw.  (I should mention, they also try to panic Americans into not asking for straws at Chipotle.)

A new Democrat campaign slogan

By Mike Huckabee

If the Democrats are looking for a good campaign slogan for 2020, might I suggest this?

“Who are you gonna believe, us or your lyin’ eyes?!”

This seems especially relevant after this weekend’s California Democratic Convention in San Francisco (talk about the ground zero of “progressivism.”)  National level Democrats and their countless media apologists keep insisting that the party base really aren’t a bunch of leftist radicals who want to impose socialism on America; why, that’s just a lot of partisan propaganda smear tactics puffed up by crazy Republicans.

But in order to believe that, you have to overlook the fact that when former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (one of the few Dem hopefuls with any executive experience at all) told the crowd, “If we want to beat Donald Trump and achieve big progressive goals, socialism is not the answer,” he was greeted with loud, sustained booing.  If they don’t embrace socialism, then why do they react to any badmouthing of it like a mother who’s just been told that her baby’s ugly?

A new revenue stream for California

By Mike Huckabee

With so many business owners fleeing California, Gov. Gavin Newsom apparently hopes to diversify his state’s tax base beyond Hollywood and high tech by turning it into America’s abortion mill.  With other states passing laws restricting abortion, Newsom (who, coincidentally, is already laying plans for his reelection campaign) is launching the sickest tourism promotion ever by inviting women to come to the Golden State to kill their children in the womb.  Or as he put it so euphemistically, while practically wrapping a Planned Parenthood clinic in American flags:

“California will continue to uphold women’s equality and liberty by protecting their reproductive freedom, educating Californians about their rights to reproductive freedom, welcoming women to California to fully exercise their reproductive rights, and acting as a model for other states that want to ensure full reproductive freedom for women.”

He somehow managed to promote unfettered abortion while saying the word "freedom" more often than Rush Limbaugh.

Of course, this is really all that would happen if Roe v. Wade were overturned: abortion would not be outlawed, the issue would just go back to the states. It’s nice to see that a “progressive” liberal like Newsom can appreciate the concepts of freedom and limited federal power.  However, it would be nice if a “progressive” could ever make a speech that repeatedly touted liberty and freedom without it being solely about the freedom to kill innocent babies, who, in his view, obviously have no right to life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness.

Has anyone ever thought about why "Facial Recognition" issues are so strongly being attacked. Aside from the obvious BS... how about the ability to STOP the child/human trafficking exploitation border recycling crap? Or the facial recognition of all border crossers (legally/illegally), who want to hide in the US? Facial recognition and "AGE Progression" software would make it a LOT easier to track and find those that try to be no-shows for their immigration court hearings. I was in the UAE and everyone of us were "photographed" and had to provide a "verifiable" address. What was really impressive is that as I was getting close to my "over-stay (due to business), I was notified that I had 7 days to "renew" my Welcome to the UAE of face a very severe swift deportation that I would be billed for. Their immigration control is so great that IF I had left the airport and tried to get past security again (even the same day/night as my flight was 9 hours delayed), I had to do the "Welcome to the UAE" process all over again, and because I had already been there in the UAE over 30 days they were not near as "cordial" the second time around. Facial recognition and age progression technology would be very effective in so many ways. Personally, I'll be glad when we all MUST have RFID chips in our bodies from birth...image the crime rate going in the toilet...Try explaining to the judge why your RFID chip said you were "inside that bank" at midnight making a withdrawal of funds. IF you are not doing anything wrong the RFID chip proves that; and as far as the illusion of privacy...there is no such thing. So I do NOT see anything wrong with facial recognition technology development and it could benefit billions one way or the other.
