I don’t know when I’ve been so proud of my fellow Republicans.

During yesterday’s shockingly bad House Judiciary Committee hearing, it was the Republicans (along with one objective legal expert, Jonathan Turley), who showed themselves to be the adults in the room. The rest of the participants, as the day wore on, increasingly showed themselves to be drenched in Trump-hate so caustic, it long ago dissolved any real sense they might have once had about the principles of justice as espoused in the Constitution.

I would say this hearing was like the old nursery rhyme: “When it was good, it was very, very good, and when it was bad it was horrid.” (My staff writer/researchers are still asking for hazard pay.) The horrid part was probably worse than you even imagined, with three of the four “expert” witnesses so tainted, no lawyer in his right mind would put them on the stand in an actual trial.

You know by now that one of the witnesses chosen by House Democrats to testify, Stanford University law professor Pamela Karlan, in answer to an obviously set-up question from Sheila Jackson Lee, made a snide and extremely lame remark about President Trump’s 13-year-old son. Here’s what she said: “I’ll just give you one example that shows you the difference between him [Trump] and a king, which is, the Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility. So while the President can name his son ‘Barron,’ he can’t make him a baron.” (I assume she thinks “Barron” is spelled with one “r.”) Besides being about as petty as it gets, this remark shows that Prof. Karlan is probably the last person anyone should rely on for a dispassionate reading of the law. The Democrats’ Trump-hate is so irrational, they couldn’t even see how the testimony of such a Trump-hating witness was going to come across to rational human beings.

That was a major theme of the testimony overall, not counting Turley’s: that the President thinks he’s a king or dictator, which is nothing more than partisan opinion unsupported by fact. Sorry to be graphic, but if the President REALLY behaved like an absolute ruler, these three outspoken “political enemies” would likely be stood in front of a firing squad. That’s what dictators do. Ironically, they also love show trials like the one the House is putting on right now.

It came out in the hearing, under questioning by Matt Gaetz, that Karlan is a political activist who has given thousands of dollars to Democrat candidates, including Elizabeth Warren, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. That in itself doesn’t disqualify her from testifying as a legal expert, but it’s certainly consistent with the partisanship she displayed in the witness chair. She is such a loon, she actually compared Trump’s (brief) delaying of military aid to Ukraine to cutting off rescue services to Americans after a hurricane. (Gee, wonder what she would think of Obama’s failure to send Ukraine military aid at all?) This person hates Trump so much, she has even said she’s crossed the street to avoid walking in front of one of his hotels. Still, according to Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch, she has been considered by the left to be a contender for a Supreme Court seat.  She reportedly was on Hillary's list of prospects. I am not kidding.

Karlan did apologize, sort of, for her remark about Barron, after Gaetz really let her have it. She said she regretted it and that it was wrong but also that she wished “the President would apologize, obviously, for the things that he’s done that [are] wrong...” (Our own Miss Mannerly would say this is a most ungracious apology but that she is probably not capable of better.)

But the good part of the hearing did turn out to be very, very good. What perhaps was the Line Of The Day came from Jonathan Turley: “If you impeach a President, if you make a high crime and misdemeanor out of going to the courts, it is an abuse of power. It’s YOUR abuse of power.” Turley obviously sees through their strategy: accusing the President of the very things THEY are doing, and he turned it around on them.

ASIDE: speaking of abuse of power, did you know “The Schiff Report” includes phone records that were subpoenaed from Verizon and AT&T by Adam Schiff? He apparently obtained call records –- not content, but who was called and for how long –- of Rudy Giuliani, Jay Sekulow, investigative reporter John Solomon (!), Sean Hannity, Devin Nunes, former Nunes staffer Kash Patel, Mike Flynn attorney Victoria Toensing and others, including people at the White House. Who does Schiff think he is, Jim Comey? All the details are here in Wednesday’s piece from Byron York...

But I digress. York also appeared with Martha MacCallum on FOX News Wednesday night, and he ran through the evolution of charges with which Democrats have considered charging the President. After seeming to settle on “bribery,” in Wednesday’s hearing they united on the notion that the President “abused his power.” York says that’s because “it’s big, it sounds very serious, and it’s really fuzzy.”

I would add that if pressed to be more specific, they'll cite the fictional account of Trump attempting to get Ukrainian President Zelensky to investigate the Bidens by threatening to withhold military aid, which is asserted in Schiff’s report with absolutely no evidence to back it up. (In fact, Zelensky himself has provided exculpatory evidence, repeatedly.) The three anti-Trump “witnesses” in Wednesday’s hearing did the same thing, speaking of Schiff’s assertions as if they were proven fact.

In contrast, the Republicans, notably ranking member Doug Collins, made a solid case that what’s really driving the Democrats is the fear that Trump will be re-elected in 2020. This is why they’re in a hurry and can’t be bothered with little things like subpoenas and court challenges (which they likely would lose, along with their “obstruction” argument). The strategy: get it done before too many people notice you haven’t produced one bit of actual evidence. As Macbeth said, “...twere well it were done quickly.”

It was mostly the speed of the process that Prof. Turley had a problem with –- the speed and the overarching anger. I particularly appreciate the way this non-Trump supporter prefaced his opinion: “My personal views of President Trump are as irrelevant to my impeachment testimony as they should be to your impeachment vote.” (THANK YOU.)  Turley said what Congress is doing now is “wrong, because this is not how you impeach an American President.”

And again, THANK YOU, Prof. Turley, for daring to say this:

Another Republican committee member who made me especially proud: Jim Jordan, who powerfully summarized the exculpatory facts that keep being omitted. If there’s a Senate trial, his hard-hitting words should serve as a preview of coming attractions.

To conclude on a glorious note, here’s the magnificent argument made by Mike Johnson of Louisiana. The following must-watch clip will make you proud to be a Republican and give you hope that we can pull out of this political tailspin.  We just need some rational adults in charge.

REP. MIKE JOHNSON: This whole production is a sham

How can Adam Schiff request & actually receive these call records? Aren’t these providers under legal obligation to NOT release such records without a subpoena? And if there was a subpoena, how? I cannot understand how so many things are transpiring that seem to actually be ILLEGAL & yet no one is stopping anything!?!?!

The shameful behavior of those "legal expert professors" should be enough for alumni and students at those respective "skools of higher lerning" to start class action suits against these institutions and demand their tuition back plus damages - trebled. Unfortunately academe has deteriorated to such an extent that faculty in institutions of higher learning, is , as evidenced by this "expert testimony," is comprised of aspiring thespians who pretend to be real professors in their respective fields. They are not real legal experts they just play them in front of an audience of students. Such is the sorry state of academe. As for ole Schiffty, seems like he is on a supercharged abuse-of-power-trip himself. No constitionional protections against this guy. Or so he thinks. So they all think. Disgraceful and dumb, those Democrats.

My take away from Professor Karlan’s opinion testimony:
She is able to read minds, at least President Trump’s mind, since she know what he was thinking.
She has no real social life as she spent her entire Thanksgiving holiday reading up on the SCHiFF Show testimony.

Also, Nadler kept referring to these professors as witnesses...
They witnessed nothing....they are merely giving their opinions!

Later on this day Nancy Pelosi comes out and says that she has no choice to proceed forward with impeachment charges against President Trump. No surprise there, but even on the mainstream media (not sure why) they showed Nancy receiving a question from a reporter "do you hate Trump? " (or something similar) and she becomes rattled and defensive and said that she won't put up with someone putting words in her mouth, etc. and she doesn't hate anybody. Whether she personally and individually hates Trump, I dont' know. But the Democratic party and all those complete lying phonies like Schiff, Nadler, the three so called liberal professor experts and a very lengthy list of other Democrats - they display their pure hatred for our President. They don't care that THE PEOPLE voted and chose our President. Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Schiff, Nadler, etc. are the face of the Democratic party. How anyone would want the Democrats ever being in the majority of the House, Senate or be elected to the White House, would be beyond any rational thinking. But sadly we know there are the Never Trumpers also driven by hate towards the man (President) that has done so many good things in three years for our country. But I bet he (the President) never imagined that HATE would be the driving force of the Democrats or that the Deep State Swamp is as deep as it is.
Let's hope there is one huge majority who gets out and votes against the Never Trumpers and the blind liberals and we as a country never again see the Democratic party in the majority of anything.
One of the things that I am quite upset about, since it is known and obvious that "impeachment"
has been talked about since day number one of President Trump being elected, why for God's sake has the Republican party stood by and done almost nothing about it. There are a few who speak out and are in support of the President, like Republicans Nunes, Meadows, Graham, etc. , but very few and shame on them. The Democrats need to be called out for exactly what they represent and for their pure hatred and evil. The Republicans should have and better do something about this coup against a duly elected President of the United States !!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. I have been so upset about this, I have written my senators and congressman twice. I'm sharing stuff on my facebook page. I wish we could arrest Schiff & Pelosi for being evil and stupid. Thank you for sharing the video from REP. Mike Johnson. That did help me.

Professors were there, I’m assuming, to give legitimacy to impeaching President Trump. Why don’t congressmen already know what they’re doing is legitimate? Congressmen are wasting taxpayer $$$. While they’re sitting there playing judge and jury, the business of running the country is not getting done. I heard briefly that Schiff may be guilty of getting money illegally from Ukraine. Is this true? If it is, why isn’t he on trial?

All I can say after listening to Rep Mike Johnson is “WOW!”. I pray every night that this country will survive this devastating partisanship and that President Trump will finally be revered for the great work that he is doing by a majority of Americans. God help us all.

Karlan's apology included a "wish" that President Trump would apologize for his wrongdoings. Governor Huckabee I have yet to have a Trump hating liberal tell me, in plain terms, just exactly what the President has done that is so wrong. And I have asked repeatedly!!! Do you know or have you had one of your liberal acquaintances ever tell you what he's done that is so terrible? Besides win the election. I would really like to know what these things are. Thank you, sir. I love your newsletters!!!

Legal Experts that can be a problem. Especially since they have never been an elected official let alone the President of the United States of America. Rules and opinions change over time.

The other problem is why is nobody upset with a two part joke was made. Jackson set the female proff up for the Baron joke. That means these Proffs met before the Flea Circus started. Possibly feeding out questions beforehand? I would like to see this issue brought up.

Thanks again. I am beginning to feel sorry for so many who are so stark raving "mad" they have been caught up in this and believe themselves. I wonder how they sleep at night. Maybe they don't. We have always associated evil with darkness and right with light.

The democrats are demonstrating to their constituents why they are not worthy of the office they were elected to hold. All they have done well is to show their constituents that they made a mistake when they voted for them.

I too am proud to be a Republican! I watched most of the hatred by the 3
lawyers yesterday, with the one exception, Prof. Turley. He made the most sense, but that's one thing the dems don't have, is sense. My jaw dropped when I heard the female prof. I won't honor her name, mention the President's son, Barron. You could see the hatred in her face & actions. The Republicans did a great job with what they had to work with. PROOF, where's the proof??? This was just another sideshow & now another one on Mon. by the dems. My heart goes out to the First Lady, Melania. We have to continue our prayers for the President, his family, & our Great Country! We must win all 3 in 2020!! Amen.

Mr. Huckabee: Professors Feldman and Karlan are liars with intent to fool the American people. They both lied about witness testimony, using witness opening statements admitted to be presumption and hearsay having no basis in fact under questioning, and built a case to impeach our President based on opening witness testimony admitted to be presumption and hearsay having no basis in fact. As I was listening, all I could think of "is this a joke".

Mike Johnson swung a BB bat! Man! I like that guy. And yet Jordan, Gaetz and Doug Collins were spot on. Schiff, has crossed the line with phone records which he does NOT need and who gave them the authority to sobpoena phone records of people he is NOT investigating. that sounds like GROSS abuse of power. One of many things he needs to swing for. Three of the 4 "law professors" where nothing more than hate mongers putting it out there for all to see. I would have punched that broad in the mouth for her remark on Barron. that was childish, stupid, and ignorant. But what do you expect from a lez.

As the mother of three lawyers, mother in law of one, and grandmother of one who interned in the World Court, and another grand daughter about the enter Harvard Law 6. We feel a great loss of pride in the profession. As the Democrat's Constitutional 'Experts', they should have never come to any conclusions about Trump, knowing full well that one is 'innocent till proven guilty.' The academics put themselves above the Constitution.
The other sad thing is that many parents have paid for their children to listen to this quality of teaching.

Does anyone but me find it strange that Prof. karlan is at Stanford and an activist as was Ford the Kavanah accuser. Stanford must be the Democrats new go to place to get accusers. Even when I lived in Redwood City Stanford was known as a commie school as many of the proffessers were card carriers.

Mr. Johnson sounds like a true, real statesman, unlike the Democrat morons wasting our precious tax dollars on their own selfish and completely misguided egotistical political ambitions. All congressional democrats should face impeachment themselves and be called to task.
