Dreamers crash Pelosi's press conference

September 19, 2017 |

Mainstream Democrats are finally starting to realize the folly of their longtime tactic of stirring up young voters’ passions by demonizing Republicans instead of sticking to factual arguments. It’s worked well in silencing conservative speakers and politicians at townhalls. When a mob shows up screaming “racist” and “Nazi,” any rational discussion is pretty much over. Accusing the opposition of having only the worst motives has proved to be a handy tool for ginning up rage. Any Republican who questions the cost or effectiveness of a government program, no matter how expensive or useless, is really in favor of whatever evil it’s supposedly fighting, or hates whatever group it’s supposedly benefiting.

It’s worked so well for so long that many young leftists have been raised to reject rational thought and honest debate entirely in favor of self-righteous rage and emotion, which inevitably leads them further and further left. They’ve even embraced the feel-good snake oil of socialism and all the other delusions that come with it, and they want whatever they want right now without a lot of yakking about fiscal, legal or Constitutional realities. They’re like a Frankenstein’s monster that’s snapped its restraints and is now turning on its creator. We saw it in California when the Assembly Speaker wouldn’t bring single payer health care to a vote because it would have cost over twice the entire state budget, and he was greeted with death threats. Yesterday, it was Nancy Pelosi’s turn to get a taste of what Republicans have been dealing with for decades.

She was hosting an event to bring “awareness” (under liberal governance, the one thing there’s never a shortage of is awareness) of the plight of the 800,000 participants in the DACA program. She was happy to exploit the issue as a political tool to attack President Trump. The implication, of course, being that he ended it because he’s evil and hates immigrant children, and not because it was unconstitutional and if he hadn’t ended it, a multi-state lawsuit would have. Trump gave Congress (you know, the place where Pelosi works) six months to come up with a Constitutional way to end their “plight,” but instead, she was out exploiting it for political gain by “raising awareness” (i.e., stirring up political rancor at Trump for expecting her to do her job.)

But a funny thing happened on the way to the false narrative. A mob of protesters, taught well at the feet of the former hippies who now run the Democratic Party, crashed her event. Calling themselves “immigrant youth, undocumented and unafraid,” they rebuffed her attempts at a rational discussion and just started shouting, “Democrats are deporters!” and “Democrats created an out-of-control deportation machine and handed it over to Trump!” (To be accurate, deportation has long been the punishment for being here illegally, and Trump gave the issue back to Congress to fix, but accuracy isn’t their strong suit. Passion is.) Then again, DACA itself may be beside the point; this mob seemed to want amnesty for all illegal immigrants.

Pelosi tried shouting back, “Just stop it now, just stop it now,” before giving up and hightailing it out of there. All I can say is, “Welcome to our world. The world you created.”

It’s ironic that liberals like Rep. Pelosi are so hellbent on scrubbing religion from the schools. If they had only studied the Hebrew Bible, they would have been warned about the eventual outcome of appealing to people’s rage and emotions instead of their intellects. It’s in Hosea 8:7: “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.”

I'm thrilled she got a taste of her own medicine. I am pro-legal immigration, pro-deportation for ALL illegals (including DACA recipients once that program is ended), and pro-border wall. I am also pro-America. These are people we would have welcomed into this country if they had bothered to come legally and apply to stay legally - their parents chose not to and they should all be gone. Pelosi has learned nothing; she is too ignorant to actually learn from her errors. But I'm hoping Trump gets more backing and that Congress tells all the illegals, "Bye!"

I hope we all learn that rational discussion beats shouted demands, regardless of our differences. Conservatives can learn from liberals; liberals can learn from conservatives. On some conservative sites, the comments are filled with name-calling instead of open discourse. The same is true of some liberal sites. We can do better.

Nothing ever comes from these staged sit - ins and shout - downs.
If leaders of DACA are serious about there goals ... and they do have some good points... then DACA needs to make appointments to be heard immediately with Congess. Their viewpoints need to be heard in a legislative way so that real change can happen.
Acting (the fool) like this ...?is couterprducive ... and is losing bipartisan support in Congress.
