It’s bad enough that so much of our “news” media already act like press release distribution services for the DNC. But over the past couple of days, some have demonstrated that even if America were facing war with an enemy that has spent 40 years attacking us and chanting for us to die, and America’s forces were led by Donald Trump, they’d take the other side.
That was first demonstrated by their repulsive puffery about Gen. Qassem Soleimani, depicting him not as Iran’s Terrorist Mastermind-in-Chief but as a beloved, poetry-reciting folk hero comparable to Princess Diana, Elvis or the Rev. Martin Luther King (yes, those comparisons were actually made.) Not since Kenneth Mars went into paroxysms of effusive praise for Hitler’s dancing ability in “The Producers” has there been such ludicrous praise for a mass-murdering tyrant, and that at least was intended as comedy.
But then, they took it even further by actually giving air time to Iranian government mouthpieces to spew their propaganda straight to the American public. For instance, CNN put Iranian official Masoumeh Ebtekar on the air to call Souleimani’s killing a “terrorist act” by the US. They apparently didn’t recall that she previously acted as an Iranian spokesperson back in 1979, during the Iran hostage crisis, when she declared that she would have no qualms at all about personally shooting the American hostages in the head. Or maybe they just didn't care. THIS...is CNN!
Those networks who couldn’t book their very own terrorist mouthpiece had to make do with rebroadcasting Iranian state propaganda, like showing the massive turnout of “mourners” for Soleimani to convince us of how beloved he was by ordinary Iranians. But real experts on Iran, like Shadi Hamid, a senior Middle East expert at the Brookings Institution, called it “absurd” and “basically propaganda” to suggest that most Iranians outside of a small cult revered Soleimani.
The mullahs can get a big turnout of faux mourners into the streets because they order people to turn out in the streets and look sad/angry. Children carrying signs lauding Soleimani were told to leave school, go outside, and wave the signs they were given. They have no more understanding of what they’re actually protesting about than does Greta Thunberg, but at least she’s sincerely protesting. The Iranian kids are just doing what they’re ordered to do.
Yet our media are airing it and pontificating about it as if it were real. Don’t we have enough homegrown fake news without having to import it?
If our news media would like someone to mourn who is deserving of it, then how about giving more airtime to Nawres Hamid? He was the Iraqi-born naturalized US citizen working honorably as an interpreter in Iraq, who was killed in the missile strike on a US base that also injured four US soldiers. He left behind a wife and two young sons and many friends and family members to whom he was genuinely beloved, revered and heroic. He was one of those brown-skinned, foreign-born, Muslim immigrants that the media love to tell us Donald Trump doesn’t care about. Yet Trump saw his killing as an act of war against an American citizen requiring a strong response, while our liberal media dismiss him and laud his murderer.
To our media, Nawres Hamid may just be another one of Soleimani’s thousands of nameless, faceless victims. But thanks to President Trump, he will have an honored place in history as the very last victim Qassem Soleimani ever dared to kill.
With gratitude,
Mike Huckabee

FEATURED STORY
The Gov. answers readers who say Flynn deserves prison
By Mike Huckabee
From Chip:
I see that you did not post my comments yesterday disagreeing with your column and supporting Gen. Flynn’s sentencing. It would appear you only post comments agreeing with your column’s stated position, even though I acknowledged your right to hold your own opinion. Somewhat disingenuous on your part, is it not?
From the Gov:
Thanks for writing (again), Chip. We did post your original comments; occasionally it takes a while to get them moderated and posted. In fact, your letter shows up twice. We print comments that disagree with me all the time –- as long as they are clean, which they often aren’t –- typically even singling them out for a response, as is happening right now. I actually enjoy being put in the “hot seat” and defending why I believe as I do. So here is what you originally wrote, for the third time now...
From Chip:
I disagree. You’re entitled to your own opinion, but Gen. Flynn was judged guilty as charged. He should have gotten a prison sentence from the beginning.
Now, here are a couple of others who also disagreed with me. Afterwards, I’ll reply to all three.

##Appellation##, I wanted to make sure you also read these comments:
These days, if you dare to suggest it might be a bad idea for a young person who’s confused about his/her gender to disfigure their bodies with chemicals and surgery years before their brains have finished developing, leftists and transgender activists declare you a hateful transphobe and try to figuratively stone you in the town square.
But what if you actually were one of those kids, and you later decided your transition was a “horrendous mistake.” So you transition back to your birth gender, and start a nonprofit to try to help other young people in the same sad situation. You’re stunned to start hearing from hundreds of them around the world, which suggests this is a serious problem that’s hurting a lot of kids who were tragically misled by adults. Would leftists and transgender activists then have second thoughts and reconsider their rigid dogma? Or would they brand the former trans kid a “traitor” and try to figuratively stone her in the town square, too?
I think you can guess which way they went. But click the link for the rest of the story. You might be surprised by how much of a “follow the money” element there is to it.

Wednesday (January 8th) would have been Elvis Presley’s 85th birthday. Crowds of fans have gathered at Graceland for a multi-day celebration. There was also an auction of some of his belongings. Surprisingly, the Harley Davidson golf cart the King used to putter around his estate, which was expected to sell for up to $70,000, failed to bring the minimum bid of $20,000. Yet last year, his Harley motorcycle sold for a near-record $800,000. Click the link to see photos of some of the Elvis memorabilia, and see if you can figure out why more people might want to own that motorcycle than the golf cart.
