The New York Times’ attempt to torch Justice Brett Kavanaugh turned into a self-immolation, and now, even their one of their fellow liberal media outlets isn't helping put out the fire but just urinating on the ashes.

You now know how the Times' editors left out some little details about an accusation of sordid behavior over 30 years ago – details like numerous people saying that the alleged victim told them she didn't remember it happening.  But believe it or not, that wasn’t the worst bombshell for the anti-Kavanaugh crowd that the Times tried to cover up. In floating that non-story, the paper ignored the real revelation in their own reporters’ book: the friend of Kavanaugh’s chief accuser, the one Christine Blasey Ford cited as a witness, told the reporters that she didn’t find Ford’s story believable but she was pressured and threatened with a smear campaign by Ford’s supporters if she’d said so. (Kavanaugh's opponents threatening to smear someone? Say it ain't so!)

This would explain why the woman had her lawyer release a legally-parsed statement saying that while she “has no recollection of the incident in question,” she “does not refute Dr. Ford's account, and she has already told the press that she believes Dr. Ford's account.” But in fact, she admitted to the book's authors that she didn’t recall that get-together or others like it, she had “no confidence” in Ford’s story, and “it just didn’t make any sense.”

You’d think that would be the part of the book that newspaper editors would hone in on as the newsworthy part, but nope. And it took – brace yourselves! – CBS News to point out the New York Times’ journalistic malpractice in ignoring the real news that was good for Kavanaugh to focus on the fake news that smeared him.

Here’s an account of CBS’ report on their rival’s epic partisan faceplant:

And for those who think that this story can’t be expressed in terms that are too blunt, mean and hilariously brutal toward the transparently incompetent propagandists at the New York Times, here’s Matt Vespa’s version.

Finally, as long as we’re bashing the Times with much-deserved ridicule, you know the Babylon Bee had to weigh in (Note to yes, we know it’s a satire site. You’re the only ones who mistake it for an actual news site, but that’s understandable, since there’s so much more truth in it than there is in the New York Times these days.)
