Very big, long-overdue news: Tuesday, the Justice Department announced a “sweeping probe” of alleged anti-trust violations by big tech companies.  No specific companies were named, but it could safely be assumed that they’re talking about the ones that have been getting so much press lately for putting their virtual thumbs on the scales of Internet free speech and search results.

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/doj-opens-sweeping-anti-trust-probe-into-big-tech-firms/

The DOJ did not say whether the investigation will get into allegations of political bias in search results or deplatforming conservative users.  But that might be considered a part of monopoly-style power abuses that flow out of anti-trust red flags named by the DOJ, such as “engaging in practices that have reduced competition, stifled innovation, or otherwise harmed consumers.”

I’ve used this analogy before, but it’s a good one, so I’ll repeat it: sites such as Google and Facebook are meant to act as traffic cops, keeping the lanes open in all directions so that web traffic can flow freely.  If they start acting like corrupt traffic cops who are drunk on their power and only pull over and arrest drivers with red state license plates, then the feds need to step in and clean house.

Another piece of good news: the House gave a stinging reminder to freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar that she does not actually run the government by voting 398-17 to pass a resolution opposing the disgusting, anti-Semitic “Boycott, Divest, Sanction” movement against Israel.

Click to the link to see who voted against that resolution.  You get 17 guesses, but three of them don’t count because they’re too obvious.

President Trump announced a budget deal with Congressional leaders Monday night that would stave off the looming (and frankly, pointless) debt ceiling limit until 2021, well after the next election.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-budget-deal-congressional-leaders

The deal angered Republican budget hawks, who see it as an example of one way in which Trump is not a “true conservative” – they think he’s not bothered by big government and big spending, as long as it’s for things he favors (this deal does include needed funds for rebuilding and updating the military.)  I don’t think that’s entirely fair, since Trump is cutting spending in the few places where he’s able to do it without Congressional input, such as executive branch office budgets. But I do agree that this is yet another irresponsible example of politicians ignoring a looming crisis of their own making and kicking the can down the road for future generations to deal with.

On the other hand, one can also make the case that this whole process is just political theater.  We’ve all seen this movie too many times: the government “shutdowns” that really aren’t (always blamed on Republicans, even when they’re caused by Democrats), always ending with the phony “debt ceiling” being raised to the sky one more time (it should be touching the moon by now.)  And those who complain that this deal’s big raise in the 2011 Budget Control Act spending caps seldom mention that those limits “have been repeatedly waived since 2014.”

There’s also an argument that Trump has little choice.  Can you even imagine him getting any spending cuts at all out of a House run by Nancy Pelosi (who, the last time she was Speaker, went for years without even passing a budget) and now seemingly steered by far-leftists like AOC, who think debt is meaningless and who just want to fire up the money printing presses and spend tens of trillions?  If he couldn’t even get a GOP House under Paul Ryan to rein in spending, expecting it under Pelosi would be like expecting a rat in a grain silo to go on a diet.

As usual, some Democrats complained even when they got what they wanted, like Sen. Pat Leahy, who carped that the deal doesn’t ban Trump from spending money on building a border wall.  You know, if we secured our border and enforced our immigration laws, maybe we could cut some of the massive amount of money we’re spending on dealing with, deporting, and providing all sorts of free services to millions of people who aren’t even supposed to be here.  I guess that’s another problem that will get kicked down the road for someone else to deal with, someday.

As evidence that Trump is willing to try to cut spending, even in ways guaranteed to bring down the wrath of the left and the media on his head, he proposed a rule Tuesday to verify that food stamp recipients still qualify for the program. At the link, the Secretary of Agriculture explains it.

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/agriculture-secretary-sonny-perdue-food-stamps-snap-waste-nutrition-program

Under Obama, the food stamp program reached record levels.  With unemployment now at record lows, the Trump Administration suspects that many recipients no longer qualify. They say it’s meant to be temporary assistance, and they believe that up to 3.1 million people should be removed from food stamp rolls, saving taxpayers about $2.5 billion a year.

Sounds like an interesting proposal, but what’s that I smell?  Is it government cheese?  No, I think it may be the smell of leftwing activists, sweating over lawsuits they’re already planning to rush into the courtrooms of liberal federal judges to block it.

Very cool article about conservative artists who are finding unique ways to bypass the leftist showbiz gatekeepers and get their work into theaters and online.  One is a top comic who knew Netflix (home of that renowned producer, Barack Obama) would never give him a stand-up special, so he shot his own special and uploaded it directly to YouTube.

Check it out and please support artists like this.  If you’re sick of hearing only the left side in entertainment, then we need to make sure those on our side have an audience and can make a living.

No wonder leftists want to purge history!  A clip just emerged of Nancy Pelosi from 2008 being “massively racist.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/watch-pelosi-video-found-showing-massively-racist-todays-democrats-standards-says-doesnt-want-illegals/

Actually, she wasn’t.  She just said, “Securing the border is the first principle we all have when we talk about the immigration issue…We certainly don’t want any more [illegals] coming in.”  Now, that was just common sense in 2008, but it doesn’t matter what the standards were then, because everything must always be judged by the ever-changing standards that apply now.  And by current standards, that’s…well, it’s actually still just common sense, but by the standards of the left, it’s “massively racist!”

AOC will expect a confession and an abject apology on her desk by noon.

Your conservative comedian link shows a man by the name of Nick DiPaoli. He likes to swear a lot. I liked the jist of his humor, but not the profanity. Just sayin I didn't expect the governor to support this kind of profanity based humor.

Thank you Governor Huckabee for your wisdom, your kindness, and your faith in God. You have often been a light in a dark world. I still hope that you will consider another run for POTUS, to succeed President Trump. God bless you!

Enough with the bogus investigations!!! Mueller was asked, “Did you completely exonerate Trump.” His answer was a simple, “No.” No one asked why. In reality, which there is very little, Mueller does not have that power to do so, which makes Trump appear guilty! I am so sick of trillions of dollars of our hard earned money being spent on bogus investigations in order to cripple this administration. The dems need to get over the fact that Trump is our president! They have ignored their real jobs and have figured out how to turn these bogus investigations into a living, book deals, etc., etc. while the American people are seen as idiots as we all feel helpless in stopping this nonsense!!!

I didn't get to watch the hearings, but as I got off work, I did hear part of the President's speech, so assumed the hearing didn't go the way democrats were sure it would (probably had their victory party all planned.) As I have watched Hannity and Laura Ingraham, it seems to me that, perhaps mueller is kind of on the same boat as pelosi as far as mental quickness goes. That is so sad. It looks more and more like he was just a patsy. And, in the end, pelosi and friends are just ignoring this little bump in the road--if I heard her right, they are already planning another slew of hearings? I'm pretty much tired of tax money that should be going for real issues being wasted on special counsels and whatever committees they are going to be tying up next.

Then there is the transwhatever person wanting his junk waxed and crying about discrimination and it's against the law (in Canada, but same as garbage going on here.) And, I think--so people can go after the bakers and photographers and wedding venue owners for discriminating against them--but it's crickets when anyone should suggest fb, google, etc, discriminating against anything conservative. Just another day in the hypocrisy of the left.

Trump is wanting to remove food stamps from people who are not eligible . In our neighbor hood most people are on welfare . They do not work for a living . The Obama administration promoted this kind of living . So now no one wants a job or to go to work to make a living. Young and middle age eligible able bodied people are on Government assistance with no accountability .

I am disturbed by the way Schiff and Nadler used Mueller for the witch hunt. It looks as they used Mueller I have been critical of Mueller he isn't going to be canonize for sainthood Mueller probably did very little in this witch hunt I think the 2 squirts told him to shut up and stay out of the way while his aides did all the dirty work. Being a friend of Comey is not an endearment he was right to call him an associate as they engaged in sleazy business deals together leads me to wonder what kind of a Marine he was and FBI Director he has made awful decisions that the supreme Court had to over turn and has continue to ruin lives using the power of the office he held at the time sounds as he leans toward being a dictator than anything else. Bob you got your revenge take some time and write an apology to America expose the wrong that you had your name attached to while you can still put a paragraph together Americans will forgive and if you have any offspring they may be able to live in peace and maybe you will too.
