Today's Edition

President Trump was in North Carolina Monday for a rally to support 9th Congressional District candidate Dan Bishop in today’s special election against Democrat Dan McCready.

The political parties and the media are placing a yuuuge amount of importance on this race as an indicator of the possible 2020 election results, which is silly. One district, with its own unique demographics, holding a one-time election a year before the general election carries no predictive power whatsoever. But the economy is going great and there are no major wars and the Mueller report is as deflated as a Macy’s balloon the day after the parade, so the chattering class has to have something to talk about as a harbinger of the end of Trump’s reign of terror at last.

FEATURED STORIES

Saints Quarterback Drew Brees

By Mike Huckabee

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was savaged by leftists and LGBTQ activists for making a promotional video for “Take Your Bible to School Day” because it was produced by Focus on the Family (another Christian group falsely labeled as a homophobic hate group for not fully embracing the LGBTQ political agenda.)

I admired Drew a lot for filming that video and was sorry to see him backtrack and distance himself from Focus on the Family after coming under assault from the baying Twitter hordes.  He should have known that apologizing does nothing but signal weakness and capitulation and encourage even more attacks and demands.  This is why I only apologize when I think I’ve done something I should apologize for, not when some amped-up Twitter mob calls me names online and demands an apology.  I continue urging people to take the same attitude and discover how freeing it can be when you just don’t care what a bunch of anonymous radical idiots say about you on their Twitter feeds that nobody in their right mind reads.

At the link is an excellent essay about the Brees story and the larger lesson it holds about the dangers of capitulating to those who try to make you renounce your faith.  It’s by Illinois Lutheran pastor Hans Fiene.  It’s a long read, but very worthwhile.  I hope you’ll read it, and I really hope Drew Brees will read it.

News from the “Sanctuary City” party

By Mike Huckabee

In Baltimore County, Maryland, six of seven people charged in the brutal stabbing death of a 21-year-old man have been identified as members of the vicious MS-13 gang.  That’s the gang President Trump was referring to when he called its members “animals,” and Democrats have falsely claimed ever since that he was referring to all Mexicans.  It’s believed that they stabbed the victim to death because he made a hand gesture that appeared to be associated with another gang.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/ms13-gang-members-illegal-immigrants-maryland-stabbing-deadly-ice

This comes just about six months after five MS-13 gang members were arrested, also in Maryland, for allegedly stabbing a 16-year-old fellow member 100 times and dumping his body in Virginia, where they set it on fire.

But for Heaven’s sakes, don’t call them animals, or you’ll be blasted as a xenophobe by people like the authorities in Montgomery County, Maryland.  It’s the “sanctuary county” where seven illegal immigrants have been arrested just since July 25th on charges of rape and sexual assault, including a previously-deported illegal alien who allegedly sexually assaulted his own stepdaughter.

So who is to blame for protecting these violent criminals from federal authorities and turning them loose to prey on American citizens, or as county authorities phrase it, promoting “understanding, tolerance, and respect” and “social justice for all”?  If you guessed that means that the real villains are President Trump, conservative news outlets that dared to report the story and some vaguely-defined group of “neo-Nazi sympathizers,” then congratulations.  You speak perfect leftist gibberish circa 2019.

But on the good news front, despite the Democrats’ best efforts, illegal border crossings fell by nearly half in August, after President Trump signed a deal with Mexico to interdict migrant “caravans” before they get to the US border.  For those who do make it across the border, here’s a helpful hint: Maryland is to the north and east.

AOC's nonsense

By Mike Huckabee

There is simply no end to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s fields of expertise.  Having lectured us on everything from economics to immigration to guns (she even knows Dan Crenshaw's friends and relatives better than he does), she’s now morphed into a meteorologist.  Tweeting out video of the devastation in the Bahamas, she wrote, “This is what climate change looks like: it hits vulnerable communities first. I can already hear climate deniers screeching: ‘It’s always been like this! You’re dim,’ etc.  No. This is about science & leadership. We either decarbonize & cut emissions, or we don’t & let people die.”

Again, I don’t know what a “climate denier” is, since I’ve never met anyone who denies that there’s a climate, or even that it changes.  But yes, in fact it has always been like this in places like the Bahamas, which rest in an area that has long been called “Hurricane Alley” because that’s where hurricanes form.

At this link, actual climate expert Bjorn Lomborg unpacks some of the nonsense, including the fact that only three major hurricanes stronger than a Category 3 have hit the continental US in the last 13 years.  That’s the lowest rate since 1900 and well below the average of eight during the same time frame, despite the increased CO2 emissions.

https://www.westernjournal.com/aoc-gets-blasted-legendary-environmentalist-lies-hurricanes-global-warming/

This is not what climate change looks like.  It’s what a hurricane looks like when, by pure bad luck, it happens to cross over a populated island with poorly-constructed infrastructure. And her tweet is what it looks like when politicians attempt to use misinformation to exploit a tragedy and promote their political agendas.

Excellent observation: Jennifer Wright at the New York Post reports on Mattel bowing to feminists by releasing a series of “female heroine” Barbie dolls such as Sally Ride, Rosa Parks and Frida Kahlo to inspire little girls…and then points out that in the real world, most little girls torture their Barbies.  So how will liberal parents react when they see these feminist heroine dolls getting melted in the oven or having their heads ripped off and stuck on Christmas tree lights?  Prepare to be triggered!

Here’s why Tulsi Gabbard would probably be the strongest Democratic Presidential candidate and why the Republicans are lucky that the DNC and the Democrats’ crazy-left primary voters will insure there’s no way she’ll get the nomination.

Ms cortez is indeed "off" She does have, however, a pointed view that this whole Planet should take heed to--just that the method to get to where we need to be is untractable--but that fact does not make the thrust any less germain, or important.--Our Oceans are acidifying, our reefs are dying-our rural land is being paved over, our trees are being eliminated. (Know how many trees it takes to produce enough oxygen for 9 humans to survive for a year???--37-and those are MATURE trees--not some rapid tree farm that replants and harvests 10 yrs later.
We(all of us) are polluting the closed system we call home at a rate that may be irreversible in the foreseeable future--if you don't believe the data and the logic, and the second Law of Thermodynamics--then you are stupid--and you surely can't fix that.

I have a theory that a lot of the climate hysteria is due to the 24/7 news cycle. As a child of the 50s I knew of hurricanes and tornadoes but only if they were local or very severe. Hurricane Dorian was a 2 week non stop circus.
It was only one hurricane, but we had news bulletins every time the wind changed. We watched the storm from a disturbance off the coast of Africa to landfall in the Maritimes of Canada.
This is not to denigrate the pain and suffering of the Bahamas. I'm glad the 24/7 News can make us aware of this part of natures aftermath.

    Hey Mike -
Regarding NON-APOLOGIES ... Matt Walsh has the BEST non-apology I have ever read.
    https://www.dailywire.com/news/42299/walsh-i-would-issue-formal-non-apology-matt-walsh
    ..
excerpt: "...after careful reflection, I have decided to officially and formally not apologize. I'm not sorry at all, even slightly. Indeed, I especially want to convey my absence of remorse to anyone who was offended by what I said. If you are the sort of person who gets twisted into knots when someone articulates a point of view that differs from your own, then you are exactly the sort of person who should never receive an apology for a differing point of view — if I were offering one, which, again, I'm not.

Of course, unfortunately, you do manage to drag apologies out of people all the time. But this does no one any good. The person coerced into apologizing for a sincerely-held belief still probably holds that belief, though silently. ..."
    ...
    Please read his full NON-APOLOGY!
