##Appellation##,

Yesterday, in a bizarre and tragic incident at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California, a shooter injured three people before committing suicide. And while what happened was strange and unpredictable, the reaction was as predictable as a show we’ve seen in reruns a hundred times.

President Trump, not yet having any details of what happened, simply tweeted that our thoughts and prayers were with the victims. Liberals immediately rushed to judgement and didn’t merely say that prayers were not enough but denigrated the entire concept and politicized the tragedy – no longer even bothering to try to finesse their exploitation of a tragedy but openly using the actual words, “politicize it.”

One prominent celebrity tweeter, using predictably profane language, predictably blamed the NRA and predictably called that group a “terrorist organization” (predictably, the shooter was not an NRA member.) He added that it didn’t matter who the shooter was, or that the shooter wasn’t an NRA member, it’s still their fault and we need to repeal the Second Amendment. So we can add “logic” to the list of fatalities, as well.

Haley helping craft real change at UN

By Mike Huckabee

More proof of a welcome sea change at the UN thanks to our tough-as-nails ambassador Nikki Haley: the Palestinian Authority, which hates Israel, has been reduced to petulantly accusing her of being a “hater” for refusing to let them exercise their anti-Semitic hatred.

This came after the US and Great Britain blocked the UN Security Council from issuing a statement condemning Israel for the 15 fatalities in the Palestinian protests at the security fence on the Gaza border. You might remember me writing about that last week and mentioning how the terrorist group Hamas organized the violent protests as “the beginning of the Palestinians’ return to all of Palestine,” at one point even sending a little girl to the front in hopes that Israeli troops would fire on her (they did not.)

The UN statement would have expressed “sorrow at the loss of innocent Palestinian lives” and reaffirmed the “right to peaceful protest.” The US and UK had a problem with that language. I’m assuming part of their problem was the phrase “peaceful protest,” which I didn’t think involved rioting, throwing rocks or planting IEDs.

"I Can Only Imagine"

By Mike Huckabee

If you haven’t seen the very powerful faith-based movie “I Can Only Imagine,” it will be even easier next weekend, as it expands to hundreds more screens after being out for three weeks. The usual trend is for films to open on thousands of screens, then quickly fall off. But this film continues to grow in popularity as audiences hear the great word of mouth.

I was lucky enough to see it early on because I interviewed the stars and creators for my TBN TV show, so I knew it was terrific, but I’m happy to see that so many other people are discovering it. The movie has already earned $55 million and is on track to make over $100 million, both in the US and abroad. That might not seem like much in the days of the billion-dollar blockbusters, but “Imagine” cost just $7 million to make. By contrast, the new “Tomb Raider” remake cost $94 million and has made only $51 million so far.

I hope Hollywood will take a lesson from this, that movies don’t need big explosions, sex or violence to be profitable. Audiences are starving for inspiring stories about real people, with intelligent scripts, fine acting and an uplifting message. I know they’re harder to create than comic book plots and CGI fireballs, but that used to be your job.

At the link, some more on the movie, plus clips of an interview with star Dennis Quaid and the song that inspired it.

New guidelines

By Mike Huckabee

The Trump Administration has handed down new guidelines to immigration judges. From now on, judges who are dealing with illegal immigrants fighting removal orders will be expected to clear at least 700 cases a year (some currently complete fewer than that, while others clear as many as 1500), and to clear 85% of the cases within three days and not be overturned by higher courts more than 15% of the time.

There will certainly be protests that this will infringe on the legal rights of illegal immigrants (that’s a separate issue in itself). But it’s to address a growing backlog that’s reached 684,000 cases, including (surprise) 128,000 in California alone. It’s said that the wheels of justice turn slowly, but too many people are taking advantage of our court system to gum up the wheels until they don’t turn at all (to quote another old saw, “Justice delayed is justice denied.”) If anyone thinks a judge was unfair, there is always appeal. Any judges found to be rushing cases through unfairly should end up with a turnover rate of more than 15%, and then they can be removed from their jobs. Fairness!

Two stories worth reading

By Mike Huckabee

This is a very timely and inspiring rejoinder to Hillary Clinton’s latest glass of sour grape merlot, about how weak-willed Republican women voted against her because their husbands told them so. It’s the story of a remarkable woman who overcame outrageously sexist attacks and shattered a number of glass ceilings, becoming one of the most admired people in the Senate and the first woman to run for President from a major party. And that party was the GOP.

This is getting rediculus! Past history needs to be explained to these kids that this is how Hitler and many other tyrants got their power, take away law abiding citizens weapons and only crooks and tyrants will control our lives! Explain the larger picture of WHY the second amendment was included in the Amendments to the Constitution! Education, education, education, they are not seeing the big picture.
I also think it's time to investigate the BIG MONEY behind all this talk-- who stands to gain. Hitler wanted to take control over the world too.
