Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: a Cook County, Illinois, grand jury has just indicted actor Jussie Smollett on charges related to filing a false police report about a staged hate crime. And yes, it’s the same staged hate crime, not a new one. The one where he claimed that two white racists in MAGA caps who just happened to be carrying rope in subzero Chicago temperatures at 2 a.m. recognized him and launched a homophobic attack. Police later determined the “attackers” were two Nigerian brothers associated with Smollett. They believe the motive was to attain publicity and sympathy that would get him a raise from his TV series “Empire,” at the expense of tarring Trump voters as racist thugs and risking possible violent retribution and racial animosity.

https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2020/02/11/jussie-smollett-new-charges-special-prosecutor-dan-webb-cook-county-states-attorney-kim-foxx/

Smollett’s attorneys called the indictment “political” and an affront to justice, but many Americans thought the real affront to justice was when the Cook County prosecutor simply dropped the 16 charges against Smollett, claiming that was standard procedure for a first time offender. The case was assigned to special prosecutor Dan Webb, a former federal prosecutor, who conducted a six month investigation. He said, “The grand jury’s investigation revealed that Jussie Smollett planned and participated in a staged hate crime attack, and thereafter made numerous false statements to Chicago Police Department officers on multiple occasions, reporting a heinous hate crime that he, in fact, knew had not occurred.” Webb also said the county prosecutors were unable to provide any evidence that the previous dismissal was in line with similar cases.

In their defense, I would hope it would be impossible to point to any cases similar to the Jussie Smollett case.

With gratitude,

FEATURED STORY

What now? Dems are hysterical over Roger Stone case

By Mike Huckabee

It was only a matter of time, and not much time at that.

After the impeachment trial fizzled, Democrats needed something else right away to go after President Trump for. Fortunately for them, they’re gifted with being able to turn on a dime and quickly “find” something else to turn into a federal case (literally). They will stop at nothing. Between now and the election –- and afterwards –- they'll keep him in their sights, demanding investigation after investigation. So, what is it this time?

It’s his tweets about the Roger Stone sentencing.

President Trump tweets about everything. Sick of the media distorting everything he says and does, he takes it directly to his audience. But the media work overtime to use the tweets against him, too. The folks at MSNBC and CNN have lost their minds once again, over the Stone case and also his suggestion that the Pentagon might look into Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman; they’re likening Trump to the “dictator” of a “banana republic.” On the contrary, it’s in a banana republic that we see egregious prosecutorial abuse, people getting prison sentences way out of proportion to their crimes simply for getting caught up in a fight for political power.

Devin Nunes and some other House Republicans suspect that the Mueller prosecutors set up Stone and some others, to be able to “put the squeeze” on them to get damaging information on Trump. “We believe that this is not gonna be the only example,” Nunes said on FBC’s “Lou Dobbs Tonight.” “We think there’s other examples of things that they did during the Mueller investigation that...the American people will be very interested to learn in the coming weeks, as we start to [peel] the onion of what the Mueller team was really doing.”

I told you yesterday about the reaction from Sen. Chuck Schumer and Reps. Adam Schiff and Jerrold Nadler to the President’s tweets about the outrageous sentence recommended by prosecutors for Stone, who had the misfortune to be caught up in the effort to “get” the President. Their investigation tried unsuccessfully to tie him to WikiLeaks and an attempt to use Russian-hacked (so they said) emails to hurt the Democrat Party and Hillary Clinton, but they got him on a process crime. Now Democrats accuse Trump of trying to interfere with a criminal prosecution. With tweets.

No doubt Trump feels bad for Stone, as he does for his original national security adviser Michael Flynn and others who are collateral damage in the Democrats’ strategy to oust him. Former Trump campaign director Paul Manafort, 70, spent long months in solitary confinement and is now serving a sentence that could keep him behind bars for life. Now prosecutors are recommending a sentence for the 67-year-old Stone of seven to nine years –- also a possible life sentence –- on charges of lying to Congress and witness tampering.

Trump has said he didn’t talk to anyone in the DOJ about Stone’s case but that it would’ve been all right to do so. Contacts within the bureaucracy who know how things are done say this sentencing controversy must have been going on for weeks, certainly before Trump tweeted anything about it. Doesn’t matter. Ha, don’t be surprised if an anonymous “whistleblower” (or two or three) come forward to claim they overheard Trump say to the AG that he expects the prosecution to go easy on Roger Stone, or else the DOJ’s funding will be withheld. To add even more drama, perhaps Schiff could go on the floor of Congress to recite for the record a “parody” of what he alleges Trump said to Barr behind closed doors.

Already they’re calling for Barr to...(yes) resign as attorney general. And some of them are threatening Trump with Impeachment 2.0. California Rep. Eric Swallwell let this one rip on Wednesday with Jake Tapper on CNN: “...We’re not going to just let him torch this democracy because he thinks that he’s been let off once and we’re not going to do something about it.” I think we know who’s been trying to torch the democracy for the past few years, and it ain’t Trump.

https://www.breitbart.com/clips/2020/02/12/swalwell-impeaching-trump-over-roger-stone-is-not-off-the-table/

Former South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy defended Barr for deciding to review the harsh sentence recommended for Stone. “There are child pornographers who don’t get nine years,” he said. “There are people who rob banks who don’t get nine years. So let the judge decide. I think two or three years is about right.” Gowdy said it would have been inappropriate for Trump to weigh in before the decision was made, but he contended that Barr was aware of the recommendation long before “Trump ever tweeted a single syllable.”

https://dailycaller.com/2020/02/12/trey-gowdy-roger-stone-bill-barr/

The DOJ didn’t need Trump to call their attention to this extraordinarily punitive sentence. According to Chuck Ross at the DAILY CALLER, “Justice Department officials were reportedly ‘shocked’ by federal prosecutors’ recommendation that longtime Trump associate Roger Stone serve up to nine years in prison...”

https://dailycaller.com/2020/02/11/doj-shocked-roger-stone-sentence/

So, if Trump had nothing to do with Barr’s involvement in the case...well, then he must have been trying to bully this judge with his tweets. Yeah, that’s the ticket. It could be argued, though, that the judge might be even harder on Stone now, just to show she isn’t intimidated by the President. The judge determines the sentence, and after what Stone has already been through, it would be sad if he were now caught in the crossfire between her and the President. The latest news at this writing is that the judge has denied Stone’s attorneys’ request for a new trial.

If you missed what Tucker Carlson had to say about this Tuesday night, he noted the same thing I have about the comparative harshness of this sentence and gave some specific examples. The average sentence for a rapist is four years. The average sentence for an armed robber is three-and-a-half years. For violent assault, it’s a year and a half. He calls for Trump to pardon Stone rather than let him die in prison as CNN would like. Here’s the link to his must-see rant.

https://dailycaller.com/2020/02/11/tucker-carlson-roger-stone-pardon-sentencing/

Predictably, Democrats are pulling out all the stops to silence Barr and those who offer evidence that supports the President and reveals their own wrongdoing. They have a big problem with him getting information on Ukraine from Rudy Giuliani, since Giuliani is Trump's attorney. (My answer: If it’s true, so what?) Watch what Democrats do now to try to damage both of them, for sniffing too close to the corruption.

Barr has agreed to go before the House Judiciary Committee on March 31 –- wish it were sooner.

As for Trump, he will not be silenced. He’s been on a justifiable tweet-rant on the two-tier justice system. And on Wednesday, the day before her Senate hearing, he withdrew U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu’s nomination as undersecretary in the Treasury Department. Until her nomination, she’d overseen the prosecutions of both Stone and Flynn. For a lively read on the newly emboldened post-impeachment President, here’s Kurt Schlichter…

##Appellation##, I wanted to make sure you also read these comments:

A radical, leftwing professor at Anglia Ruskin University in Great Britain is arguing that the only solution to save the Earth from climate change is for humans to make themselves extinct. I will say the same thing I say to all environmental extremists who demand ridiculous sacrifices to appease Gaia:

“You first.”

“This…is CNN!” CNN’s Brian Stelter sent a tweet implying that Fox News was ignoring a story CNN ran that reflected negatively on Trump (it was about Attorney General Barr contradicting the federal prosecutors’ demands for 9 years in prison for Roger Stone, which I personally think was the right call.) The real problem for Stelter, though, is that whether you think that story is good or bad for Trump, Fox News actually broke it. They ran it before CNN did. Stelter was thoroughly razzed on Twitter over that.

https://www.theblaze.com/news/brian-stelter-pounces-on-fox-news-and-gets-slapped-down

Might I humbly suggest that if Brian Stelter doesn’t want to be surprised, he should keep up with what’s going on in the world by watching Fox News.

    I’m not sure this will
make it to the person that needs to hear it. I’m a top fan of Trump’s so they tell me. I voted for Trump and still plan to but if he doesn’t dial his tweets and rhetoric back, nobody will be able to save him once the domino effect starts. He’s winning, We’re with you but let the left be the bad guys not you! Let it go!

Thanks for your newsletters. I am having trouble listening to any program concerning politics and especially the democrat races. AND, the proposed investigation of shifffff, nadler and shumer---I think they, along with all of Congress (because there are some Republicans who need it, too) need mandatory Hillsdale College courses about Government, History, especially about separation of powers and the responsibilities and duty of a President. Start each day with them all sitting in an auditorium and present one lesson each day. Mandatory. Cuz it seems that there are those who have forgotten civics (especially those who have been in Congress since Hector was a pup) and some of the newer and younger (say ocasio and gang) who probably were in school when civics wasn't a priority (let alone a high priority.)

I was disappointed that both links to Kurt Schlichter led to blank pages. Tried them several time, always the same.

So, you take one incident like this Smollett case and blow it so far out of proportion as to make it sound like it's a typical incident happening daily nationwide, while you know it's not.
Here's is something happening nationwide, the rise of violence amongst our school children because or your Dear Leader's racist and xenophobic rhetoric, especially targeting children of Latin and Middle Eastern decent. It has become so bad that it is even being experience at the kindergarten level.
And while you rail against this isolated incident of the Smollet case you do your female readers a disservice by not telling them that your Dear Leader has quietly changed the definition of domestic violence. Now there is no such thing as emotional, psychological or economic abuse, three forms of abuse that the CDC says happens to over one third of the women in this county. Now a women has to be physically harmed to be a victim of domestic abuse.
I'll be back later to talk to you about your past services to the immigrant community and how that has morphed into something ugly and dangerous.

I truly understand why the President tweets because he can't trust the MSM to inform the American people of all the successes & accomplishments. But when it comes to the tweets about Roger Stone & DOJ, the President should not have tweeted anything & stayed out of it, as it is a pending court case. On NBC news tonight (02/13) it was reported that AG Barr said that Trump's tweets are making it impossible to do his (Barr's) job. Now I don't know if that was reported accurately, but not good for the President to frustrate his Attorney General. Sometimes in all due respect to the President (whom I strongly support) needs to think before he tweets. On another subject can't believe that eight Republicans in the Senate joined with Democrats to limit the President's war powers. Shame on those Republicans. This is not the time for Republicans to join with Democrats on anything! (Can we find out who those eight Republicans were?) Of course the President said he would veto the bill and he should!

I am going to copy, and paste, below, the comment I wrote to you this morning... in response to your yesterday's EVENING EDITION...and that you posted...
because, only hours after I wrote this comment, I found myself reading an article you included in one of your newsletters TODAY about the school shooting, this past May, in Highlands Park, Colorado, and the reason this school shooter wanted to kill ( "destroy" ) his classmates is because they taunted him about his transgender identity....THEREBY VALIDATING THE CRY I MADE....in my earlier comment...TO STOP THE HATRED THAT COST A PRECIOUS KID HIS LIFE BECAUSE HE TRIED TO STOP THIS KID FROM KILLING! BELOW IS THE COPY & PASTE:

    Kay DeWitt
    02/13/2020 09:21 AM
Immediately upon my reading your closing statement, "But I imagine it will be a very frigid day in Hades when they give Trump any credit for it," I heard a mental replay of a gang kid saying to a teacher, "why don't you say something nice about me once and awhile," and while I have often thought about this kid saying this , in relation TO the Democrats' posture toward President Trump, this closing statement of yours has inspired me to, finally, write ABOUT how I think about this kid's statement in relation TO the DEMOCRATS never saying anything nice about President Trump!

The kid who made this statement to a teacher was a kid who was in a behavioral management program because OF his behavior....which is why I reached out to him and always found something nice to say about him TO him because one can ALWAYS find something nice to say about someone....especially if one is a Christian who sees others through Christ's eyes!

AND Christ's love through me....that AUTHORED the "nice" things I said to this kid. ..changed his attitude toward himself....which changed his behavior!! !THEREFORE i know that I know that I know that, had the Democrats ever SAID something nice to President Trump, he would have been very receptive TO them and they could have worked together to try and resolve some of the problems we face rather than adding TO the problems we face!

The Democrats' lack of one word of support, or appreciation, to their President is scandalous and someone should suggest to them that they go into schools to tell kids how....if they don't want their school to be the scene of a school shooting...it would behoove them to always say something nice to EVERY kid his, or her, life touches! What then would be wonderful is if, after said Democrat gave his little speech to kids, a kid would raise his hand and ask, "how come YOU never say something nice about President Trump?"

I'm a little behind on my reading, but your newsletters of 2/12 & 2/13 are terrific readings & love the way you word all the articles. The Roger Stone sentencing (harsh), impeach Attorney Barr, & the Smollett case. The negativity will never stop. By the way, I also agree with Trey Gowdy, the president should not comment on judiciary cases, at least publicly. He doesn't have the second term in the bag yet, but it's heading that way. I believe, since there isn't a political opponent on the Dems side besides socialists, somewhere along the lines, they'll be bringing in good old H. Clinton, or Michele Obama. This is scary! We need everyone to get out & vote for President Trump & convince leaning dems & others to vote Republican.

In regards to Climate change (the Weather) I agree with you. "YOU FIRST". It seems as if they are causing more climate issues than fixes. All one hears/sees is the damage that is done, no one reports/mentions the good things that have been done or are being done. The "treehuggers" et al, want changes/effects to happen yesterday, without accounting for the damage their policies have done.
Anyhow, just venting, but "treehuggers" have affected my life negatively.
    Thank you.

Finally something possibly done per Smollet and the horrible event he set up in Chicago to try to attack Pres Trump ? How and why did he do such a horrible thing. Put these two guys in the middle of his scam. Then say he did not do this? Why not have done something to help those who are killing each other in Chicago that are blacks? Not try to attack more whites and RACISM who is promoting doing this sorry not this President. Being used by a party Demos who use the blacks and others. ASK WHY? See the series called The Wire super done about Baltimore and how this area died per the crime and no jobs? Who ran this area for years? Two guesses? See Detroit it died and jobs got sent overseas by WHO? Me thinks it was a Pres Clinton? So do you stand with a sinking ship or with a man like Pres Trump who has brought back our JOBS and more to come per companies see come back per China and the tariffs. Oh, yes they all still made big bucks off going overseas while we the working people lost these jobs? So VOTERS pay attention on who wants your votes and why?

All your comments about the Roger Stone are right on. My son, a country physician in Alabama, was raided by the FBI, set up, and this week, Judge Axon turned what should have been a public trial a kangaroo court, siding with prosecutors and convicting my son of things he didn't do. So, the little folks are being railroaded just like Flynn and Stone. We're Trump supporters, conservative Xtians. Axon is first year appointment and a mistake at Justice. Discrimination evident, my son is Korean,Caucasion. He's in jail now, his father a retired Supreme Court justice Hawaii, was appalled at the Judge. Only President Trump and God can ,aka this, right. I've realized something. The democrats being so far left, have an insane way of thinking what is logic or sensible. It's not the same democrat party anymore. In the last days, right will be wrong and wrong will be right. They have been taken over by Spirit of Jezebel. Pete told someone if you are pro-life you are in the wrong party. ???? So when you see that the Republicans are doing and thinking what makes sense or what is the law, the democrats can't think through the logic. Everything we do right, they have to make wrong no matter what because of their ideology. So full of hate. So the Republicans will always get flack. Does this make sense?

I'm sorry, but maybe I missed something in my constitutional law course. Article II, Section 1, provides: "The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America." It says nothing about the attorney general or anyone else in the executive branch. This clearly allows the president to discuss the actions of any department or agency with those in charge--indeed, to order them to comply with his wishes if he so chooses.

Great remarks, Governor! I believe that President Trump's efforts to drain the swamp so far have been pathetic. Why doesn't he just fire all Obama holdovers in government? At least he could give them polygraph tests to determine their true motives and complicity in the dreadful and treasonous coup. If these holdovers fail the tests or refuse to take the tests, they need to be fired and/or indicted for treason. There is also a rather new method of lie detection using MRI equipment, which is much more accurate. I believe it should be used on every RINO and Democrat in government to determine who the traitors to America are.
Love your show and your great newsletters. Keep up the truly inspirational work you are doing. I would also like to hear your thoughts on the evils of socialism and how the Democrats are planning on destroying America by continuing with the Obama legacy.
