Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi surprised a lot of people last week when he released a chapter from an upcoming book taking the media to task for its two-year-long self-delusion and departure from traditional journalistic standards in promoting the nonexistent Trump-Russia collusion story. No surprise, many of his liberal readers were not happy at getting this bucket of cold reality dumped on them when they’re used to outlets like Rolling Stone reinforcing their smug, comfy preconceptions. So Taibbi has been getting some pretty hateful tweets since it came out.

This week, he tries to get back into the left’s good graces a bit while still gently urging them to come out of their safe spaces and venture out into the light of truth.

In this article, he repeats just enough popular false beliefs of the left (that Trump started the Obama birth certificate story when it was actually Hillary Clinton’s campaign, or that Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house, when that was actually Tina Fey on “SNL”) to make his usual readers feel comfortable while prodding them to think about reasons why Trump might have won that don’t involve elaborate Russian conspiracies or even 63 million Americans being racists.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Laura Ainsworth: Time to take down Biden, so trot out the women

By Laura Ainsworth, Staff writer

Joe Biden has been doing very well in recent polls, so, of course, it was time to trot out the women.

This has become such a cliché that it was inevitable, and the timing was suspiciously perfect. But this time, since Biden isn’t what most would call a sexual predator –- even in 2019 –- the “line” for inappropriate behavior had to be moved in order to include him in that category. “Uncle Joe” has always been the sort who lacked clear physical boundaries, kind of like the big, affectionate dog who can’t resist jumping all over every visitor, male or female, who comes to the door. Some people like or at least tolerate the dog jumping up, sniffing them and and slobbering on them, but others are not thrilled. They feel uncomfortable and anxious, and they wish he had been trained to stay down and keep his paws off them.

Georgia fights for life

By Mike Huckabee

Georgia legislators have passed a bill banning abortion after the baby has a detectable heartbeat, which is around six weeks, unless the pregnancy endangers the mother’s life or poses “substantial and irreversible physical harm” to the mother.

The bill is under furious attack from the pro-abortion movement, particularly from Hollywood. The Writers Guild and over 100 liberal actors and comedians so far (there’s a handy alphabetical list at the link) are threatening a boycott of Georgia if it becomes law. Leaders of pro-abortion states such as Pennsylvania are seeking to cash in on the graves of unborn children by aggressively trying to poach Georgia’s lucrative film business.

The Born Alive Act

By Mike Huckabee

If a fetal heartbeat doesn’t mean a baby is a living human, then how about if it’s already been born?  As supporters of the Born Alive Act like to say, this shouldn’t even be a debate: if a baby is born alive during an abortion, and is separate from its mother’s body, there is no longer any question of infringing on a woman’s control over her own body.  You are now dealing with a separate human being who is invested with the full rights of every American citizen, which includes the right to life-saving emergency medical care from the doctor who is standing there.

This seems to be Common Decency 101, something that should not even require a new law to codify it.  Yet Democratic Senators blocked the bill to affirm that a child born alive during an abortion has a right to medical care, and House Democrats have voted 20 times to keep it from being allowed out of committee for a vote.  The Internet is filled with snarky comments from liberals, mocking the idea that they are pro-infanticide.  Well, sorry for the confusion, but when you keep voting to let infants die, it’s easy to get the impression that you are pro-infanticide.

At the link is an account of a major effort on Tuesday by House Republicans to try to get their Democratic colleagues to (to use an expression they love to quote but don’t seem to understand) do the right thing.

Mar-A-Lago threat

By Mike Huckabee

This is a strange story about the Chinese woman stopped by the Secret Service when she attempted to get into President Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort during his visit, while was carrying a thumbdrive filled with computer malware.  The story suggests that Trump’s security needs to be even more cautious, but kudos to them for stopping her before she got any closer than she did.  The story is also worth reading just to see how many times she changed her story completely in ways that made no sense.  If this were the plot of a spy novel, you’d probably ask Amazon for a refund because it's just too crazy.

Understanding socialism

By Mike Huckabee

One of the many fatal flaws of socialism is that people who are sold on it have no idea what it actually is.  For instance, one popular defense of socialism on social media is that if you are in favor of fire departments, highways, Social Security, etc., then you love socialism.  Except those things are NOT “socialism.”  Every government has certain things it does in the public interest and pays for through taxes.  That is not government control of the means of production.

And Social Security was designed as an insurance program to which people contributed throughout their lives and got their own money back in retirement.  It was perverted through the years by government spending the money on other things and replacing it with IOUs, which turned it by default into an entitlement program that it was never meant to be. Now, one generation pays in and the money goes to generations that joined earlier.  That’s not exactly socialism, either, that’s a “Ponzi scheme.”  If you ran a system like that in the private sector, you’d end up in prison with Bernie Madoff.  But socialism and Ponzi schemes are similar in that they both take money from one person and give it to another, and they both eventually collapse.

Quotes from American History

"The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself."

Hallmarks of Leftists

By Mike Huckabee

If you’ve been paying attention for the past hundred years or so, you might’ve noticed that there are two hallmarks of leftists:

1.  Nothing they believe in works.

2.  That’s always someone else’s fault.

For instance, Venezuela recently blamed its socialist death-rattle blackouts on President Trump and capitalists.  But then, Trump is to blame for everything, from the New Zealand shooting to the anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party to the Boeing plane crash to Barbra Streisand’s weight gain and Barbara Bush’s heart attack.

Lightfoot wins

By Mike Huckabee

Tuesday, former federal prosecutor Lori Lightfoot was easily elected mayor of Chicago over longtime city council member and county Democratic Party chairwoman, Toni Preckwinkle.  A political newcomer, Lightfoot painted her opponent as someone who climbed the ladder of a corrupt political party, and she promised to rid Chicago’s City Hall of corruption (good luck!) and help low-income and working class people who had been ignored by Chicago’s ruling political class.

That all sounds good, and let’s hope she succeeds.  But it was still a race between two liberal Democrats, and the media insisted on making it about identity politics by trumpeting that Lightfoot will be Chicago’s first black, female, openly gay Mayor.

Frankly, I don’t care how many identity group boxes a candidate checks off.  I’ll believe that Chicago voters are really serious about turning around their city when I read that they’ve just elected their first openly-Republican Mayor since 1931.

I noticed that the House Republicans are using the discharge petition to pull the bill against infanticide out of committee. Finally. I understand only 218 votes are required.
I have a question. Can the discharge petition be used to remove Omar and Talib from office in my house? I'm hoping there is some way even though we are in the minority, that we can get this done.
Thank you for your time and thank you for your good works.
