President Trump, in a wide-ranging phone interview Thursday evening with Sean Hannity, made it clear that much will be revealed in the coming days about what was really going in Obama’s Justice Department and FBI, and perhaps higher. Now that Mueller has finally concluded his investigation after failing to make the case for a Trump/Russia conspiracy to affect the 2016 election, it’s obvious that Trump has simply had enough of this lunacy. He is done. As he has known from the start, this was an investigation based on nothing. There is no point in continuing this farce, so not only is he telling congressional Democrats where they can put their subpoenas –- that means you, Jerry Nadler –- he’s also getting ready to declassify a multitude of documents --- even, he says, beyond the ones that have been discussed. It can’t come too soon.

In the meantime, John Solomon is busier than ever, breaking important news just about every day. Much of it right now has to do with Ukraine and helps explain why so much focus was placed on Paul Manafort in the investigation of Trump. Significantly, he has uncovered one of the earliest documented efforts to set in motion the phony Trump/Russia collusion narrative. It also happens to be one of the first to involve the White House.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Welcome to The Thunderdome Joe!

By Mike Huckabee

Joe Biden’s campaign is less than one day old, and already, his campaign logo is getting slammed.  Welcome to the Thunderdome, Joe!

In fact, there may be some inadvertent subliminal advertising at work in the designs of the campaign logos for both Joe Biden and Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax.

"Progressivism" unmasked

By Mike Huckabee

The Democratic Party adopted corrosive, divisive identity politics, and now, they’re being devoured by it themselves.  Case in point: their two frontrunners are both older white men, while so-called “progressives” are howling that the party shouldn’t be led by older white males (one of them is Biden’s new senior campaign adviser, so maybe she changed her mind since she got a paying gig.)

I love being lectured about our alleged racism and sexism by people who openly want to base their party leadership on racism and sexism (not to mention ageism.)  And of course, Biden is just not socialist enough, either.

Once again, “progressivism” is unmasked as nothing but reviving terrible failed ideas from the last century.

Gone up in smoke

By Mike Huckabee

Another excellent article by Conrad Black on how the whole “collusion/obstruction/impeachment” crusade has gone up in smoke, and the investigation is now about to turn on the investigators.  But a dwindling number of Democrats are so invested that they keep clinging on, refusing to recognize the dangers ahead, even as history moves on and leaves them behind in the dust.  They’re like Monty Python’s Black Knight, both arms and legs cut off, still yelling that it’s only a flesh wound.

One might even call them…”bitter clingers.”

Obamacare at the expense of middle class families

By Mike Huckabee

Last Thursday, a federal report was issued that contained some devastating news about the Obama Administration.  No, not the Mueller report, but good guess.  This report was an analysis of health insurance coverage by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, and it was largely overlooked in all the hoopla over the Mueller report.

The CBO found that the number of uninsured Americans rose by 1.4 million from 2016 to 2018, which most of the media were quick to blame on Trump and Republicans undermining the “protections” of Obamacare.  But former USA Today and Washington Post journalist John Merline dug into the numbers and found that they tell a very different story.

Merline writes that the data in the CBO report shows that “all of the increase in the uninsured over the past two years — all of it — is the result of the massive rate increases Obamacare’s mandates and regulations caused.”  And who was hit the hardest?  The very people Democrats claimed Obamacare was going to protect: the struggling middle class.

Because of all the Obamacare changes, regulations, mandates and coverage requirements, insurance premiums doubled or even tripled.  The rich can afford it, while the poor qualify for subsidies covered by the taxpayers.  Meanwhile, people who make just enough income not to qualify for subsidies have been hit with unaffordable premiums and have had to go without insurance.

The CBO showed that huge drop in health insurance coverage was due to a 36% decline in coverage among Americans who don’t qualify for subsidies.  Merline writes, “So, in short, while Obamacare succeeded in making millions of people dependent on the government for health insurance, it’s done so at the expense of middle-class families who were specifically promised relief from high insurance costs.”

Read more at the link for an explanation of why many people believe that to Obamacare’s Democratic creators, getting millions of people dependent on the government for health care, and the rest unable to afford private care (so they’ll be more likely to beg for a government takeover, too) was not an unintended consequence of Obamacare but the real point from the start.

About the VA

By Mike Huckabee

I chided Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for saying that the Veterans Administration health care system didn’t need reforming because “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” (a philosophy I wish she’d also apply to the US capitalist economic system.)

But President Trump had another view.  I’m sure with tongue in cheek, at least a bit, he tweeted, “Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is correct, the VA is not broken, it is doing great. But that is only because of the Trump Administration. We got Veterans Choice & Accountability passed. ‘President Trump deserves a lot of credit.’ Dan Caldwell, Concerned Veterans of America.”

For those who think I won’t voice disagreements with Trump, listen up.  I do agree that the VA has seen some desperately-needed reforms and improvements, and Trump certainly deserves credit for those.  But there are still problems, particularly, as the linked story notes, with veterans getting timely access to the care they need.

There’s no question that thanks to Trump, the VA is doing a better job of helping veterans.  But when our veterans come home from risking their lives and limbs to protect us, they deserve better than just “better.”  They deserve the absolute best medical and psychiatric care, and that should be one of Washington’s top priorities.

If you want to describe the situation at the VA, don’t say, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”  Say, “Don’t stop fixing it until it’s no longer broke.”

"The Day Collusion Died"

By Mike Huckabee

Friday Funny!  Great parody song about the release of the Mueller report, set to Don McLean’s “American Pie”: “The Day Collusion Died.” It could also be considered the day Rachel Maddow cried.

I should point out that the creator of the video felt it necessary to list all the other “crimes” Trump is obviously guilty of, such as “emoluments,” a laughably frivolous charge.  (I wonder how many leftists who went from crying “collusion” to crying “emoluments” could define what either of those words mean?  I wonder how many could even spell both of them correctly?)  I don’t know if the parody artist truly believes that stuff himself or is just trying to give depressed liberals a reason to live, but if you look at it as the latter, that part of the song shouldn’t bother you.  And the rest is dead-on hilarious.

The state of the imploding anti-Trump “Russian collusion” hoax

By Mike Huckabee

Excellent summation by Conrad Black of National Review of the state of the imploding anti-Trump “Russian collusion” hoax and predictions of the near-future once the ginned-up “obstruction” hysteria blows over. Excerpt:

“The failure of elected officials, and of the journalists and commentators upon whom the nation has a right to rely for serious and fair reporting and analysis of important political events, will weigh very heavily upon them.”

Allow me to modestly point out that if you read my newsletter, none of this will have come as a surprise to you.  We had it nailed over two years ago, and unlike the self-important big media outlets, everything we’ve reported and predicted since has unfolded just as we told you it would.

The only thing remotely surprising to me and my staff is that the incredibly biased Mueller team found so little evidence against Trump and his people that even they had to admit there was no “there” there and were forced to resort to refusing to exonerate him on “obstruction” (“Well, he didn’t do anything illegal…and he didn’t actually try to stop the investigation…but he WANTED TO!!  BUUUUURN HIM!!!”)

We assumed they’d be able to do a better job than that of making their pile of manure look like a mountain of evidence. One might say we underestimated their integrity, but I think we just slightly underestimated their confidence at what they thought they’d be able to get away with.

Thanks for the link to the CBO report on OBAMACARE. I've heard from various people about the outrageous premiums with high deductibles. As my Veteran's Rep says "VA care for all."

With the continued implosion of Obama care, when will the Republicans get off their collective butts, quit kicking the can down the road, and pass comprehensive health care reform? I hold them all accountable for being short of courage and long on talk and good intentions.
