INTERESTING THEORY
President Trump played rope-a-dope with Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) by saying he had total authority over when states reopen for business. Since they’re forced as if by a witch’s curse to vehemently disagree with anything Trump says, they suddenly starting defending states’ rights and the 10th Amendment, two things that conservatives revere.
For years, liberals dismissed states’ rights as a dogwhistle for racism and the 10th Amendment as an obsolete footnote of the Constitution, and Trump forced them to defend those things by seemingly opposing them. Then he turned around and said the Governors would make those decisions after all.
So congratulations, liberals, you won! States’ rights and the 10th Amendment are once again established as the law of the land!
By this point, the anti-Trump media must feel like bulls that charged a red flag, only to find there was a brick wall behind it. The only difference is that after hitting the wall a few times, a bull is smart enough to learn to stop charging the red flag.

COVID-19 NEWS
Here’s video of Friday’s full White House daily briefing on the coronavirus:
President Trump started by praising the heroism of our doctors and nurses. He said 3.5 million tests for the virus have been completed, and we now have fast, reliable new tests, giving us a more accurate view of the infection, hospitalization and death rates. He said cases are falling and 30% of the country has reported no new cases in the past seven days, so some states can start reopening sooner than others. Also, with what we now know, the resources we’ve created and stockpiled, and the guidelines that have worked, even if the virus returns in the fall, we will be able to deal with it.
Here’s a list of the states that will likely open up first, and the ways they’re planning to do it. Click to see if your state is on the list and when you’ll be able to get back to work.
NEWS YOU CAN USE
News You Can Use: Here are the latest FDA guidelines on how to avoid contracting the coronavirus while grocery shopping. While you know most of this (face masks, hand washing, etc.), the latest news is that it’s probably not necessary to wipe down food packaging. You can do it as an extra precaution if you like, but they say there is currently no evidence of the virus being transmitted by human or animal food or food packaging. More at the link.

WEEKEND FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Weekend Food for Thought: Was the COVID-19 coronavirus created in a Chinese lab that it escaped rather than transmitted from bats to humans? One man is arguing that it clearly was. Detractors accuse him of being a conspiracy theorist, but considering that Dr. Luc Montagnier won the Nobel Prize for medicine for discovering HIV as the cause of AIDS, it might be worth hearing him out. He believes the virus was created not as a bioweapon but to research an AIDS cure, as its genome shows it contains sequences of HIV, which would have had to be inserted in a lab. He said Indian researchers reached the same conclusion, but were pressured into withdrawing their findings.
Dr. Montagnier says there’s a positive side to this, in that genetically-manipulated viruses don’t survive long. Also, he says the real conspiracy mongers are the people trying to silence anyone who questions China’s official story.
You can read more at the link and see if you agree. But if not, don’t try to claim that it’s because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
