This is not a rerun: A teenage male whom authorities knew to be a potential threat has attacked a group of people in Florida. But it’s not getting as much media attention as you might expect, maybe because it doesn’t fit the current preferred media narrative. It didn’t involve a gun, but it did involve radical Islamist terrorism and failure by the authorities to do their jobs.

In Palm Gardens, Florida, 17-year-old Corey Johnson was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 13-year-old boy to death and seriously wounding a woman and her 13-year-old son at a birthday party sleepover. Johnson reportedly told police that he was an ISIS sympathizer, his Islamic faith inspired the attack, and he read the Quran beforehand “to give him courage to carry out his intentions.”

Once again, there were more red flags than a Chinese military parade. The local police and school district police and the FBI were aware of his sick bent as far back as middle school. They were told he had violent tendencies, was a white supremacist, made anti-Semitic and anti-gay statements and talked about places to bomb. His own mother and grandparents alerted the police that he was enthralled with dictators such as Hitler, Stalin and Kim Jong Un, and that he’d become interested in Islam and reading the Quran. But he was a juvenile, so they took a “redirection” approach and didn’t pursue it.

Johnson next allegedly made a violent online threat against a Catholic high school in England that prompted an evacuation. He reportedly starting watching ISIS beheading videos and expressed interest in joining them. The FBI began monitoring his computer and demanded he cease all ISIS and terrorist-related social media postings. He didn’t.

Finally, last month, the FBI decided it had enough evidence to charge him. A month later, on March 5th, police asked where they were with that. The FBI replied that “probable cause affidavits would be coming in the next several weeks.”

A week later, while still walking around free as a bird, he stabbed three people with a knife.

Please explain to me again: how is passing more gun control laws to be enforced by local, state and federal authorities going to keep mentally-disturbed teenagers from killing people?

How SICK. How in God's world can anyone call Islam a peaceful religion. The only peace they obtain is if ALL people accept Islam. Satan applies violence. God applies love that changes people's lives.

the FBI and police involved with this case, you know the "do nothings" there should all be under arrest awaiting trial for accessory to murder. They knew there was a threat, and choise to do not one thing to prevent it.

I want to know what safety measures the Parkland, Florida school had in place and why did they fail? How did he get inside the school with a long gun? Didn't all students have to enter through a secured door? Did some student open another door for him? Maybe the students should be protesting their own schools security, rather than trying to take my Constitutional rights away from me.

It appears the government is far more interested in political correctness than protecting anyone. Or perhaps that the 24 hour non-stop news cycle is their desired focus, rather than the anonymous lack of recognition there is in doing their job behind the scenes. Our society has worshipped the television and internet camera so much that good old fashioned gum-shoe police work is no longer respectable. Count me with those who worry that the greatest nation to ever exist, and who unashamedly proclaimed Christ as our messiah and mentor has crossed the border to irrelevancy-- and obscurity.

Our FBI needs to begin a concerted effort to DETAIN and thoroughly investigate anyone they are currently surveilling that has the degree of suspicion that this young man had. At the risk of even infringing on their "due process" rights.
WHERE are the protections we the people deserve, when the enemy is so blatantly operating inside our country and under our noses to encourage these "lone wolf" (I don't believe it for a second, but that's what they try to call it) attacks.
A few of these detained, indicted for whatever charges they can get them on, and sent to Gitmo, may serve to deter others who get may similar ideas.

you know...before obama-lama-ding-dong came along and the phrase "islamophobic" suddenly appeared...action would have been taken and this tragedy likely would not have occurred. obama's groupies in the mainstream media and yes, there are those latent ones in law enforcement, are still disrupting and corrupting outcomes that ordinarily would be different if the right action had been taken....

It is amazing that crimes and criminal intent such as this never gets the label of "Hate Crimes" as is usually the label attached when the victims are a minority attacked by a white criminal. I guess I don't understand the "hate crime statutes". Along these same lines since Governor Scott was quick to sign even more unnecessary gun regulations taking away 2d Amendment Right of citizens under age 21 on the pretense this would have some actual impact on criminal shooting in schools or elsewhere, but has not taken any action to remove the Sheriff of Broward County for his total lack of judgement and leadership that apparently led to the school shooting. The Sheriff is purely a political hack that has led to the poor training and response of those in his department to take action that could have, at least, minimized the number of deaths. Him and other like him are the problem and not the NRA. Walkouts by students in Florida and elsewhere, while ill-conceived, should be directed at the local authorities before Governor Scott's election as a Senator from Florida are negatively impacted.

Guns are not the problem, people are the cause and their heart. So sad but nothing will change until we put God back in schools and our hearts!

Once again the FBI fumbles the ball and innocent people die!!!! How many innocent people must die before our primary law enforcement agency gets its act together??
