I wrestled with whether to comment on this or not because I didn’t want to call more attention to the sick comments of a drug-addled former celebrity, particularly when they called for violence against my own daughter and grandchildren.  But since it’s become a major news story, I feel I have to say something.  For the record, this person whom I shall not name has apologized.  He should, but that’s not good enough.  I am a patient and forgiving man, but I am fed up with leftists launching sick, obscene attacks and calling for violence that could incite their unstable followers to harm innocent people -- and not just adults they disagree with politically, but now, their innocent children -- and then skirting responsibility.

RECOMMENDED FOR YOU: A resposne to Laura Bush

Even though I have my own very firm political views, I try hard not to be partisan when it comes to issues of personal behavior.  I have criticized President Trump when I thought his rhetoric went too far or his policies were off-target.  I called for Roseanne to lose her TV show after she wrote an offensive tweet about Valerie Jarrett, even though I have no love for Ms Jarrett’s works and Roseanne at least had the excuse that she is self-admittedly mentally ill.  But the recent spate of reprehensible personal attacks and calls for violence on the left is inexcusable.

The intern who shouted the F-word at President Trump during his Congressional visit should be fired immediately.  As should the DOJ employee who was found to be among the Democratic Socialists group that forced the Homeland Security director to have to leave a restaurant under threat.

Tweets such as those made by the ‘60s burnout actor referenced above should be dealt with as criminal actions, because free speech does not protect people who incite violence and make threats.  I don’t care that he’s since apologized and deleted them.  No decent human being would ever have even thought of writing them in the first place.

Personally, I’ll not be satisfied until this aged, bitter, hateful, and violent creep gets arrested.  And I pray for him that NO ONE EVER encourages violence and criminal actions against his grandchildren.  But this kind of vile behavior will continue until smug, self-righteous, drug-addled losers like him are held accountable.

Sadly, he wasn’t alone in his disgusting calls for violence, as the leftist group Occupy Wall Street used Twitter not only to call for deadly attacks on immigration enforcement officers but to give instructions on how to do it (by the way, how does Twitter manage to police and ban every user who expresses a conservative opinion, yet these vermin still have Twitter accounts?)

Being “passionate” about some issue in the news that you don't even understand is not an excuse for inciting violence against innocent men, women and children.  That's not being “passionate,” that's being sick, childish, thoughtless and vile.

It’s especially ironic that this should come on the very same day that Rep. Steve Scalise was able to return to the baseball diamond for the first time, exactly one year since he was nearly murdered by a deranged leftist gunman, inspired by overheated political rhetoric to try to slaughter as many Republican Congress members as possible at a charity baseball game practice.  It was only due to the swift, heroic response by police that he didn’t accomplish his planned massacre, which has oddly become one of the few shootings that the media never seem to want to talk about.

https://www.westernjournal.com/steve-scalise-makes-incredible-first-pitch-play-immediately-mobbed-by-teammates/

And yet, even after that, some people still refuse to examine their own actions and words.

There is a character in the movie “Forrest Gump” who said something that’s become a meme on many conservative websites.  Wesley, the hippie boyfriend of Forrest’s love, Jenny, after beating her up, tried to weasel out of responsibility by saying, “Things got a little out of hand. It’s just this war and that lying son of a b**** Johnson.”  But of course, he didn’t beat his girlfriend because the President or his policies drove him to it.  He did it because he was a violent, immature, self-centered, hypocritical jerk.

Anyone who commits or foments violence against others and tries to blame it on the President or political policies they disagree with is no better than that scumball.  Shame on them.  They don’t belong on movie or TV screens or on social media.  They need to spend a long time looking inside themselves and reflecting on what they’ve said and done and what they have become.  Preferably during a stay in a federal prison.

Thank you for your words. I love your daughter and her strength not to be swayed and to speak the truth. You are right when you say people have no idea what they are talking about with certain policies and allow themselves to be manipulated by the media and special interest groups. I have been involved with stopping humane trafficking and many of those children are brought here for horrible lives of being trafficked. They need to vet and make sure they are REALLY who they say they are. The border patrol cares about folks but the hard truth is their is evil folks that want to do harm....it is a tough situation. The same people being called Nazis are the ones giving time and money on mission trips to make Mexican communities safer.

Governor Huckabee - I am so outraged by the hate and rhetoric from the far left. Your amazing daughter, with her strength in the press room and her greater strength in that restaurant inspire me to be a better person. I hope and pray that good people like Sarah stay strong and stay in the White House. We need strength, faith and love there. Sarah personifies all three. My family loves and supports her and the entire Trump administration. We shall stay the course!! Please give Sarah a hug from this 62 year old former Democrat who saw the light and changed parties 10 years ago - I did however vote for Reagan! Thank you for all that you do.

    Mr. huckabee,
I am so sorry Sarah is the best! She did not deserve any of this!!! These things should be locked up. You have been my idol for a long time and now your daughter joins you. Remember God blessed you both with the integrity you stand on. Thank you sir for all you are and for having raised a wonderful Spokesperson for the white house. All my love to you and your family. Thank you so much for this personal and passionate response. I follow you and agree with you wholeheartedly!
My dad, Jack Riley, pastored 1st Baptist, Russellville, Arkansas years ago. He always spoke very highly of you. I have followed with great admiration! Thank you for your courageous stance and uncompromising fight for America!

    I agree with you.
I think your daughter Sarah is outstanding. We NEED her. She is strong. I know it must be an exhausting job. I pray she will have the fortitude to continue in it.

The Fonda family. Robert DeNiro. Kathy Griffin. Jimmy Kimmel. Alec Baldwin. Meryl Streep. I'm done with them. There are many others and that they are liberal is fine but I resent how they are using their celebrity. We've gotten to were we watch many Andy Griffith and The Twilight Zone, etc. reruns. Movies we once loved or actors we thought were talented, we simply don't watch any longer.

Media and corporations (think Sony pictures who is releasing a Fonda film soon) do not treat conservatives and liberals alike. I don't drink coffee any longer... I used to get one every afternoon. I'm only one person but my shopping habits are changing due to politics. I am astounded that Republicans in office are not doing everything they possibly can do to pass legislation. Congress is a terrible mess (I do happen to like the GOP from Louisiana).

The violent comments from the left are escalating, and as Rush said, "if they keep it up, someone is going to get killed". These people need to be arrested, now! Enough!!!

Thinking about zero tolerance at schools now for children who even point fingers like it is a gun is unacceptable. Why are we allowing threats to a sitting president & his family w/o
    Consequences??

I agree with you completely. This kind of personal attack calling for violence against any person is reprehensible. An apology is meaningless although necessary. Whether the apology indicated he realized what he did was wrong, or whether he got caught for doing something evil and was called on it, we will never know. There is too much of this kind of hate speech on the net, TV and press. Why it is escalating, I wish I knew, but it is a disturbing trend.

Thank you, Governor. I agree with you! Yet, as we know from Ephesians 6, it is not flesh and blood that we wrestle with but a dimension the natural world cannot see or comprehend. As Jesus bled from the cross, the very wood He fashioned, He prayed for His tormentors, "Father forgive them." When we see the vileness of those who elevate themselves above Christ, Mark's Gospel comes to mind: "What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness." We love you, Governor. Grace and peace to you and your beautiful family.

If people read just a Chapter in the Bible, Done every night, And practice what is written, I believe a chang of heart would happen. I do not preach, I don't even go to church. But I am a Bible (King James) reader. God is in charge, and many prophecies have yet to come. I joined "Twitter" to become more informed about the world around me. I was shocked at what was being said, grown adults acting like children. How sad our country is treating their fellow Americans the way they do. Almost a Cyber "Civil War".

Very well said and I agree with you 100%. The fact that these people are allowed to Run Amok say and do as they Please step completely out of the Freedom of Speech Box. They Should be Charged and made an Example of otherwise this behavior will continue until the Unthinkable does occur. Has a Complaint been Filed? If not then one should be, tho I don't have to tell you that.

I completely agree with you. But people like Peter Fonda, and the fake news outlets, are much like "The Emperors New Clothes", they are parading around buck naked, and everyone sees them for what they are.

Governor Huckabee, thank you for your comments that were full of grace and common sense that had a calming influence on me and gave me pause to reflect on my own behavior. It is truly scary to witness the amount of irrational rage coming out of people. It is like people are losing control everywhere. I'm have always been kind of suspicious about the intent of most leaders as many are lacking. But, I have always felt that Trump has this nations best interest at heart and unbelievably there are some that would assault or slander me because of those beliefs.

Thank You for the accurate comment! These Evil Satan followers and their vile spewing of filth seems to be the norm these days! Pedophilia in Hollywood seems to be the norm as well! I firmly believe it is time for the FBI to do their job or CIA and arrest these people, as they would have if same was done to past Presidents! Looking forward to getting these two Departments cleaned up and to back AMERICA and our great President Trump who we chose as our leader! Always have been a proud American, but our @POTUS is bringing back how it used to be when we were growing up! God Bless America! Our Prayers were answered Nov 8th, 2016!

I totally agree with You Mr. Huckabee....they should be jailed....it is one thing to exercise free speech but calling for harm on another is vile and wrong....sadly I think it is from the moral decay going on in our country....these sickos need to be held accountable for their words....freedom of speech is not freedom of accountability.......and for the record...I think your daughter Sarah is amazing.....you did a wonderful job and should be very proud of her.....

I am curious if the media, perhaps Sony could explain the details of their hate speech containment practice. It seems since Rosanne had a primetime TV show, she needed to be fired, end the show and put everyone out of work, even after her apology, was a proper response? However, Sony's statement that, 'washed up actor', apologized for his hate speech and threat against a member of the first family, and only had a small part in the unreleased film so it wasn't worth reshooting his scene or preventing the movie from release. So, since clearly his apology prevented any further action against him, I was wondering if there was some sort of table that shows the correlation of hate, racism, sexual harassment and many of the other mob voiced 'crimes' to the appropriate punishment? Is it if a washed up 60's star is in a movie, but is limited to 15 minutes of screen time and 17 words then the film should be released, royalties to that same actor should unaffected and no further outcries on social media should be made since he gave a lame apology? is that a fair assumption. Where is this published? Is there a spreadsheet? What line covered De Niro's outrageous outburst at the Tony awards? what line covered a standing ovation by the rest of idiots there? since when did actors, people that get paid enormous amounts of money for lying, have the moral high ground? or what makes them better equipped to decide what's right for this country. Clearly Hollywood is not the real world and the less attention they are given the better.

The world you and I grew up in Governor has changed forever and it scares me for my children, grandchildren and little great grandson. Like you, I believe this hate-filled rhetoric is the catalyst that will get someone killed. Steve Scalise and the other players were blessed that day a year ago because the God and Capital police were there -- maybe the next time there will be no police nearby. I pray daily that our country will come together once again. We don't have to agree on everything but we do have work together to make this country safe for our children. Thank you always for your wise words and your love of God.

Thank you very much for this article I agree 100%, with your words. The hatefulness has gotten so bad that I'm really worried it will start a civil war if it doesn't stop. I pray the President 's security detail is tight and alert on his self and family.

Unfortunately there are millions of sick individuals who have no heart, mind, and I wonder sometimes if they have a soul. Personal responsibility, manners, good old common sense just doesn't seem to be taught or matter to most people. However people like the ones you mentioned do need to be held criminally liable for their actions particularly when their actions cause direct or indirect harm to another individual.
