President Trump is understandably “trump-eting" a story in The Daily Signal by former Federal Election Commissioner Hans von Spakovsky. It’s headlined “Trump’s Ex-Lawyer Didn’t Violate Campaign Finance Laws, and Neither Did the President” and makes the case that Trump is in the clear, saying that “the Cohen guilty pleas are likely irrelevant to the fate of President Trump.”

Here’s the Readers Digest version of why the payments weren’t violations: “FECA (the Federal Election Campaign Act) specifically says that campaign-related expenses do not include any expenditures ‘used to fulfill any commitment, obligation, or expense of a person that would exist irrespective of the candidate’s election campaign...Given Trump’s celebrity status, the potential liability to these women existed ‘irrespective of the candidate’s election campaign’...Just as important...How can Cohen or anyone else involved in these payments be charged with a ‘knowing and willful’ violation of the law by facilitating these payments when numerous campaign finance lawyers, federal election commissioners, and the Federal Election Commission itself have all publicly opined that such payments do not violate the law in the first place? It seems pretty clear that the Federal Election Campaign Act wasn’t meant to cover what Cohen pleaded guilty to, which is why the [John] Edwards prosecution failed.”

"Huckabee" Preview

By Mike Huckabee

Take a break from Christmas shopping and settle back this weekend for another great new episode of “Huckabee” on TBN!  Tonight, Rep. Matt Gaetz will tell us about his incredible week of grilling former FBI Director James Comey and the CEO of Google.  I’ll visit with Fox News host Steve Doocy, and the Rev. Franklin Graham will tell us how Samaritans Purse is making sure Christmas will be merry for impoverished children around with world (and how easy and inexpensive it is for you to help.)  I’ll have some crazy news “In Case You Missed It,” plus more serious commentaries.  And we’ll send you off in a real Christmas spirit with the great music of Francesca Battistelli and multiple Grammy-winning gospel artist Cece Winans.  How’s that for a stocking stuffed with treasures?

It’s all coming your way tonight at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, and the same times on Sunday.  To find TBN in your local area and to stream previous episodes of “Huckabee,” visit

Pelosi cuts a deal

By Mike Huckabee

Voters are already learning that everything Democrats said to get Americans to vote for them was a lie: of course, they’re going to launch endless, money-wasting, vindictive partisan investigations of political enemies; of course, they’re going to vote to impeach President Trump for the high crime of beating them in 2016, no matter how much it harms the economy and job creation; and of course, they’re going to try to raise taxes, jack up spending, increase government, bring back pork-barrel vote buying and favors for special interests, and try to take away your guns, free speech and religious freedoms.  Anyone who voted for them expecting something different must feel like Charlie Brown lying on his back after Lucy yanked away the football for the 247th time.

Public Safety Commission report on Parkland shooting released

By Mike Huckabee

The tragic school shooting in Parkland, Florida, has been relentlessly exploited by gun control advocates who refuse to acknowledge that none of the new laws they’ve proposed would have made any difference, but it might have been prevented if the laws already in place had been followed, or if anyone in charge had done their jobs properly.  According to the gun control lobby, if you question their ineffective and even counter-productive proposals, it means you want children to die.  In reality, it just means that you think their ideas will do nothing but disarm law-abiding citizens and make it easier for criminals to harm innocent people.

Well, it just became a little harder for the anti-gun lobby to slander its opponents, thanks to the release of an initial report by a state Public Safety Commission investigating the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.  After an exhaustive investigation, the commission placed the blame not on the NRA or legal gun owners, but on the local school system and police.

The Baltic Experience 2019

By Mike Huckabee

I am thrilled to announce an unforgettable trip to the Baltics for the summer of 2019! After many years of the Israel Experiences and our most recent trip the Mediterranean Experience cruise, we are bringing you another phenomenal cruise, the Baltic Experience! This all-inclusive cruise will feature some of the most beautiful places in the Baltic Sea and we will get to travel to and absorb these destinations aboard a luxury cruise ship from the Azamara Cruise line. If you have traveled with us before, you already know that all-inclusive means exactly that and there are no surprises along the way. The Baltic Experience will be no different. And when the weather is often unbearably hot throughout most of the US in August, we will be enjoying the cool and delightful weather that makes travel in the Baltic region perfect. Once again we have the entire ship and will fill our time on board with spectacular entertainment and special guests. In addition to the cruise we have multiple pre and post cruise offerings you can choose from to extend your trip. Our last cruise sold out in record time so we encourage you to get your cabin secured soon. We look forward to traveling with you soon and as always we will work tirelessly and do everything in our control to bring you The Greatest Trip.

Trouble for the Boy Scouts

By Mike Huckabee

The all-too-common hashtag on the Internet for stories of businesses that cave to leftist pressure groups and alienate their customers is “Get ‘woke,’ go broke.”  I also like the more literary quote from the great humorist James Thurber, who once observed that “You might as well fall flat on your face as bend over too far backwards.”  One recent victim of a face-plant by social justice warrior-mollification was Dick’s Sporting Goods, whose decision to jump on the gun control bandwagon may result in them having to close their entire outdoor-focused “Field & Stream” store chain.

Sadly, the next institution to be killed off by caving in to “progressivism,” feminism, transgenderism and all the other politically correct “ism’s” might be the Boy Scouts of America. That once bedrock-American organization has suffered such a drop in membership that it just hired a law firm to help with a possible Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

Best gift book of Christmas

By Mike Huckabee

Here’s a scary sign for the health of the publishing industry, and for literacy in general: Barnes and Noble released its annual list of the 20 best holiday gift ideas.  It includes mittens, a Buddha board, Mickey Mouse speakers, several kinds of socks…and only one book.

Even worse, it suggests that the people at Barnes & Noble don’t even know what the best gift book of Christmas 2018 really is:
