Once again, Attorney General Bill Barr has done the right thing.

When it became clear that the Democrats were trying --- fraudulently --- to paint him as President Trump’s henchman, he told ABC News that he makes his own decisions about cases under his review, independently of the President, the media, or anyone else. Trump gave him that independence when he took the job.

The President had gone on a passionate tweet-rant about the Roger Stone trial. Certainly he had good reason to be concerned about justice being done, as the recommended sentence of seven to nine years in prison for a 67-year-old man caught up in a “process” crime was a travesty that had already shocked career officials at the Justice Department. Here’s just a little something to put that sentence in perspective:

Still, it was important for Barr to explain that his decisions in ongoing cases have nothing to do with what the President might say (or tweet). And Barr is right to say specifically that if the President wants to tweet, he should concentrate on other issues besides ongoing cases. The constant play-by-play does make it darn-near impossible for Barr to do his job.

Barr HAD to distance himself from that.

The media picked up on Barr’s complaint about the President’s tweets but used it to create the impression of a rift between them, missing the main point: Barr’s independence. Stephanie Grisham, the White House press secretary, said this: “The President wasn’t bothered by the comments at all and he has the right, just like any American citizen, to publicly offer his opinions...the President has full faith and confidence in Attorney General Barr to do his job and uphold the law.” I guess that means Trump is still going to tweet about whatever he wants, whenever he wants, as he certainly has the right to do, but that Barr will do what he thinks is appropriate, regardless. A good message, and correct.

But Democrats don’t care what Barr says or what the White House says, unless they can twist the words to support their narrative. Similarly, they’ll use the Stone case in any way they can to damage the President. They’re already calling on the inspector general to investigate Barr’s decision to revisit the sentencing recommendation for Stone, and some have even called for Barr’s resignation or impeachment. “Attorney General William Barr ought to be ashamed and embarrassed,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal, “and...resign.”

It’s the Democrats who should be ashamed and embarrassed for saying these things about such an ethical, by-the-book attorney general, but they won’t be. They’re quite practiced at creating false narratives out of thin air. Andrew McCarthy sets the record straight...

But Democrats are pushing the narrative of a Nixonian White House in which Barr has to run all his decisions by the President. Their talent for fiction tells us nothing about Barr but everything about THEM. That’s because the Stone case is emblematic of huge problems not with Barr’s DOJ but with their own side, mostly with the two-tier justice system and huge anti-Trump bias in the courts, which I’ll get to shortly.

Constitutional scholar Dr. John Eastman, appearing on Laura Ingraham’s Thursday show, said, “The Democrats seem to overlook Article II of the Constitution: The executive power is vested in the President. The top law enforcement officer is the attorney general. If he wants to counteract the decision of the line prosecutor, that’s his dang job. There’s nothing wrong with this.” He went on to condemn “the egregious pre-dawn raid on Roger Stone, and throwing the book at this guy because they don’t like his politics.”

Oh, did his politics have something to do with this?

For background, we need to look at the presiding judge in the Stone case, U.S. Attorney Amy Berman Jackson, an Obama appointee. To cite just one ruling, Judge Jackson gave Obama’s attorney general and self-described “wingman” Eric Holder an extra two years to slow-walk evidence in the “Fast and Furious” scandal. Then there’s the jury foreman, Tomeka Hart. Before the trial, she tweeted that Stone was racist, that Trump supporters were racist and that Trump was like the KKK, using the reference #KlanPresident. She praised Robert Mueller’s special counsel. She had even been in politics herself, running unsuccessfully for Congress, as a Democrat, naturally. Apparently she misrepresented herself (lied) during jury selection, saying she “didn’t pay that close attention” and that there was nothing about Stone’s involvement with Trump’s campaign that might keep her from judging him fairly.

So, how was Ms. Hart identified as the juror in question? Well, on Wednesday, she went public on Facebook to “stand up” for the four prosecutors who’d withdrawn from the case after their outrageous sentencing recommendation was revised. “It pains me to see the DOJ now interfere with the hard work of the prosecutors,” she wrote. “They acted with the utmost intelligence, integrity and respect for our system of justice.” Yes, she actually said that.

I reported yesterday that Judge Berman had already denied Stone’s attorneys’ request for a new trial, but if she doesn’t change her mind after what we’ve learned about the juror, that will tell us all we need to know about this judge. Roger Stone MUST have a new trial. Even better –- rather than retry him at this point, they should dismiss the charges and let this beleaguered man go home, and never darken his door with a S.W.A.T. team again.

The media’s response to this story has been to call it not what it clearly is –- horrendous political bias on the jury –- but “jury nullification at the presidential level.” Aha, it’s Trump’s fault!

Looking back to when Obama was President, he didn’t hesitate to weigh in on pending legal cases, and the media didn’t care one bit. Remember Trayvon Martin? (“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”) Obama even answered questions about Hillary’s use of a private email server, denying knowing about it while she was secretary of state (lie) and saying he didn’t think it posed a national security problem (probable lie). This very well could have affected the outcome of the FBI’s investigation. Here are five examples of President Obama’s “meddling” in ongoing cases…

Oh---and Eric Holder, the most political AG I can remember (who presided over a host of Obama-era appointees who are still working at the DOJ and NSA), tweeted on Wednesday about Barr, saying, “Do not underestimate the danger of this situation: the political appointees in the DOJ are involving themselves in an inappropriate way in cases involving political allies of the President. This affects the rule of law and respect for it. Unprecedented.” I’ll wait while you fall down and roll around on the floor, laughing helplessly.

In the words of Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, “There is a scandal at the Justice Department [but] it has nothing to do with Bill Barr. It has everything to do with these prosecutors who are acting like their own little team, independent of the rule of law, to target President Trump, to try to vindicate the Mueller scam and slap at Trump after his vindication by acquittal in the impeachment thing.”

Fitton on Roger Stone: Rogue prosecutors tried to vindicate their own anti-Trump scam by going after ally

Thanks, we need to get the facts to every american. I am sick and tired of the lies by the DEMs. All of america should wake up and be concerned. United we stand, divided we fall! The Democrats have lost their minds and are doing just what Putin wants.

Democrats are trying to cut the legs under President Trump by attacking those who do effective work for President Trump. Big warning to those who worked for President Trump is to send them to jail. Witness mollycoddling of Dem McCabe by “Justice” —no sentence. If President Trump didn’t tweet, the public would never hear of his achievements. Press doesn’t report them. People like me are disgusted with past administration’s plants in White House, news media, past administration’s maneuvers to control outcome of future elections, Dem candidates’ efforts to impose communistic government on US. We will vote in next election and it won’t be for anyone Dems or media supports.

Greetings, Governor: I agree with much of what you wrote about AG Barr. However, it seems to me that Mr Barr could have made his point better to DJT in private rather than say, "Impossible to do my job." "difficult" .... OK, ......but if it makes it impossible, then he has to resign! I have been in that situation, and I found another job.

This whole thing is getting old...everyone is waiting for the people who actually did crimes during Obama's regime to have their comeuppance. It's almost the end of Trump's first term, and these people are still running around causing interference and damage. Is anything really going to happen over all of this?

Why can't these people be brought to justice. It's amazing how it just keeps going on and talked about and nothing happening, especially with the clintons.

I’m from CT and embarrassed because Sen. Richard Blumenthal should be the one embarrassed, and resign, but he’s very familiar with misrepresenting the truth and how to use redistricting for politics. Why does he continue to get elected when no one I know votes for him.

Mike, Trump has every right to do a lot of things, but PLEASE tell him that the only way he can lose the election is to continue to tweet about everything that makes him mad. If he wants another impeachment debacle, keep it up. They will take apart every word. And he will lose a lot of women voters who can't stand his childish rampages. Thanks, AW

WOW! What the Demos won't try to find and restrict the President and to keep him from trying to find out the start of the lying Russian SCAM? WHY? Now the first of one who was involved on the Scam is McCabe and he is free nothing was wrong in what he did or tried to take down the President. Now what I see is all OVER and the President might as well just wave bye bye now and say let someone else take over ? The whole scam smells and if anything is ever done to anyone who started this debacle do not hold your breath. THE SWAMP lives and will go forward and have a new President and this will not matter per might as well be a figured head and if you do not try to change the SWAMP and their control on both sides you can play at being President and they will leave you alone.

We are in dire need to a ton of dems heading for GITMO . Mueller team attorney's should NOT be involved in ANYTHING They are miles below corrupt. Barr needs to clean house as well.liberal stupidity is showing and they don't seeem to care and they are about to get humiliated in a big way. apparently the house, thinks they have authority over the Executive. I don't think they CARE what the constitution says, they want to take over. There is a word for that, AND a punishment. Let' the punishment be carried out.

I think it's a good thing that these Obama Era prosecutors have quit. Now Barr and Trump can appoint someone who will actually stand up for the rule of law instead of working just for their own agenda, and against Trump and the country.

Excellent newsletter! It was a disgrace what they did to Roger Stone at his home, S.W.A.T Team. You think this was like going after Al Capone! Like I commented on yesterday, I still think President Trump should not of tweeted about Stone. I know the passion behind the President has about Stone, but the AG is being put on the spot. I don't think we can afford to replace Barr. He has the highest integrity & I think he's doing a great job. He's peeling the onion one layer at a time. This whole circus is very complicated & very deep state of corruption. I may be wrong, but the President needs to pull back on his personnel attacks & name calling. You play with fire & you'll get burned.

Mueller needs to be tried for all of his crimes. First of all letting them use his name on a report he obviously did not even read! We the people smell a rat! In days gone by, according to my history books, he would have been tarred and feathered and set off on his horse for parts unknown.

thanks for this article...I had wondered if maybe Barr wanted to be fired ...He might if he had been threatened or his family...I hope and pray that justice will be served to those who broke the laws regardless of their positions...Have heard so much that makes me angry.

I keep hearing about Barr condemning President Trump's tweets. That's not totally accurate. Barr said. "I'm not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody ... whether it’s Congress, a newspaper editorial board, or the president.” This means ANYONE's tweet or comment. Love your daily commentary Mr. Huckabee. Saves us a lot of time researching for ourselves. And your humor...

Mike, Once again the activist judges appointed by Obama prove that we have a 2 tiered justice system. One for the Dems & the left, another for the rest of us. We can only hope that President Trump is able to be re-elected, Republicans continue to control the Senate and regain the majority in the House in Nov 2020. Democrats have absolutely no intention of doing anything of value for the American people. From the day that President Trump was elected it has been the Dems obstruction, the Lamestream media, continual lies and hysteria, Russia, Russia, Russia, the lying manufactured assault on Kavanaugh, then the Trump Impeachment trial. Now this week it is an assault on AG Bill Barr. The Democrat Clown Show Circus never ends. The Dems create more drama than a James Bond movie. Every bit of it is manufactured by them. In three years they have not put forward one piece of good bipartisan legislation that has any value to Americans. No wonder so many books have been written about Dem corruption and the deep state. I hope the American people are so tired of Democrat lies and corruption and vote them out on 11-3-2020.

    Hi Mike!
I've got a question for you. If a pregnant woman is murdered, the murderer can be charged with two murders. By this being true, the baby is a human being. On the other hand, if a woman wants an abortion, she may terminate the baby because the law says it isn't a human being until conception. I am far from being a legal expert, but how is it legally possible for both to be true?
    Hoping for an answer,

I see no real evidence of a rift between the President and Mr. Barr--not yet. But if the President doesn't learn to exercise some restraint, that could change very quickly. The President is to be thanked for his accomplishments for this nation, but it's also true that his comments create unnecessary problems as well as division. As good as he is in so many areas, in others his actions undue them. The President needs Barr and it would be horrible if Barr resigns or loses his effectiveness because of the President's tweets and off hand comments. Very, very troubling.

Why are all of these Obama appointees still in office? Isn't there already a personnel change when a new President is elected? Those previous appointments would automatically be biased towards the previous administration, it's common sense. When a new administration takes the hill, there should be a complete sweep of his entire administration, and the new President would have option of rehiring some if he wishes.

This whole debacle of previous administration pieces still in place after 3 years to me is sickening and the problem won't go away until they go away.

Great Awakening must happen or America is going to go under in a fully earned Judgment by our Creator. Our rebellion against our Creator began in 1963 when the Bible and Creation were banned in our Schools by USSC.

I have a website and a book "America Come Back" that outlines a Plan to learn the Facts of Creation, Fraud of Evolution and attend every School Board Meeting until the Bible and Creation are back in School.

Barna has the addresses of every Church in your Area. Barna lists 181 with a Peoria,IL Address. When the weather breaks I intend to go to 150 of them and ask for Volunteers to attend School Board Meetings. Goal is 1500 at the first Meeting.

Barna has a List for your Area. We need at least 15 Volunteer Groups across the USA. We must coordinate these meeting as close in Date as possible. I have 33 pages of Facts, Quotes to be used by Volunteers and at School Board Meetings. 15 Volunteer Groups will get the Politician's Attention.

Call, Text or Email. I will send you a copy. I will notify every Group Leader so we can work together learning, planning and taking Action. Our Creator gave the responsibility of Government and Teaching our Children to the Righteous and we gave it to the Wicked. We the People must take America Back as our Fathers did in the 1700's. There must not be any Lone Rangers. WE must do this together as Individuals not as Churches. This will be a Cat Fight, Pastors must lead behind the Scene.

How has America arrived at this juncture of 'NO EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW (EJUL)?' Pretty simple actually. Compared to far too many, as my wife would opine, I am a simpleton, but a 'long-lived' simpleton! Review for how many 'decades' you have heard most Americans referred to as "The Silent Majority." How about the claim that 'the silent majority has finally awakened?' I contend that the 'Silent Majority' may be shaking out the cobwebs of sleep, marginally, by electing that bombastic building builder in 2016 as President of The United States; however, that 2018 election proved that FAR TOO MANY remain asleep at the wheel! Every day in those vaunted halls of our government, (not) of the people, some holdover of 'sedition' is uncovered, yet NOTHING is done. Those caring to 'see' who is responsible for this current status of NEJUL need only look upon that reflection they see every day in their mirrors. The loss of Liberties and Freedoms, just over the past fifty-odd years, should be seen as an abomination to everyone and scary. The America I grew up in resembles little compared to this current iteration!

Hope does spring eternal, as long as there is breath, and my hope is that the 'real Americans' will identify and remove the anti-Americans and their policies long before 'The Good Ship America' runs aground on the Ash Heap of History! A simple prayer, 'Do It For My and Your Grandchildren!'
