Before discussing the significance of the “document dump” of 412 heavily redacted pages concerning the FISA applications for warrants to spy on Carter Page, it’s important to talk about something else revealed over the weekend that actually confirms suspicions of high-level collusion with a Russian agent.

YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE: What if Strzok and Page had never texted?

Unbelievably, Maria Butina, the 29-year-old woman who was just indicted on charges of conspiracy and acting as an agent of the Russian Federation without notifying our government, was able to get meetings with both the vice president of the Fed and with the undersecretary for international affairs at the U.S. Treasury.

Butina was traveling with Alexander Torshin, who was then serving as the deputy governor for the Russian Central Bank and is reputed to be close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.  Torshin met separately with the same two American officials.  According to the Center for National Interest, the purpose of the meetings was to bring together “leading figures from the financial institutions of the United States and Russia.”  Such vagueness should arouse even more suspicion.

This looks bad  –- we’ve discovered that Russian operatives have infiltrated our government and met with top-level financial officials.  It confirms what the Democrats have been talking about:  Russians are infiltrating the highest levels of American government!  How did this happen?  Collusion!  Treason!  Get a rope!

Oh, wait, never mind.  This was in 2015, during the Obama administration.

Now, on to the Carter Page documents, which include the October 2016 FISA application to surveil him as well as the three renewal applications, each covering three months.  Finally released in response to lawsuits filed by Judicial Watch and other media organizations, these pages are so blacked out with Magic Marker –- page after page covered with thick black lines –- that it’s easy to imagine an entire building full of DOJ officials (the Ministry of Truth?) being overcome by the fumes.  (I joke, but maybe they really are using black markers, because breathing that many marker fumes might cause the kind of brain damage that would explain a lot.)  Even so, we’re able to glean some information about the process used by Obama’s Department of Justice to obtain a warrant to spy on Trump’s former campaign advisor for national security.  It’s suddenly clear why the FBI and DOJ have been stonewalling on this for so long.

The application accuses Page of knowingly engaging in “clandestine intelligence activities...for or on behalf of a foreign power, which activities involve or are about to involve a violation of the criminal statutes of the United States.”  Yet even after a solid year of surveillance, Carter Page has been charged with exactly nothing.

Instead of straight-out informing the FISA court about the political origins of the Steele “dossier” –- as they were legally bound to do, according to nonpartisan legal expert Alan Dershowitz –- they chose words that sounded purely speculative.  The FBI knew perfectly well that the funding for this came from Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the DNC, through their law firm and Glenn Simpson at Fusion GPS, to pay for unverified gossip from a British ex-spy.  The application omits their knowledge.

It does reference other sources besides the dossier, but these are just anti-Trump stories in partisan press and references to “speculation in U.S. media.”  So, yes, the dossier was really the only “meat” offered the FISA court.  Rancid meat.

The officials who signed off on this junk were none other than James Comey and Sally Yates.  And who put this poor excuse for an application together?  Well, we don’t know because the name is STILL REDACTED.

John Hinderaker goes on to show that the AP outright lied in their story about this.

Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch described the mass of material as “a self-licking ice cream cone.”  It’s a closed system, to be sure, designed in part for its own self-perpetuation but with much more expansive goals, including the removal of a sitting President.  Here’s a great piece by Roger Kimball that puts the pieces together much as we have been doing over the past months.

It’s hard to figure the rationale for what is and isn’t blacked out in this material, because even the relatively small portion that we can read is shameful.  Catherine Herridge of FOX News is reporting that the 13 Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee, led by Devin Nunes, have sent a letter to President Trump asking him to declassify all other parts of it that wouldn’t endanger sources and methods.  (Please, Mr. President, DO IT!)

As for Carter Page, he told FOX News, “I’m having trouble finding any small bit of this document that rises above complete ignorance and/or insanity.”  Three words for Carter:  “So are we!”

Please Mr. PRESIDENT, take Mr. HUCKABEE'S advise and put an end to this shameful abuse of power for THE AMERICAN PEOPLE who voted for you and appreciate all you have done for us.

    Dear Huck,

I wish you had an audience as big as cnn nbc abc & cbs

Bottom Line: Reagan was elect & good & so is Trump, but all the other presidents since Reagan are evil! And that goes for Congress too. Our justice department and F.B.I. are corrupt. I personally believe that the CIA and NSA and Homeland are also corrupt including most of the Pentagon. The only people I trust in government are Dr./ Sec. Ben Carson, Nikki Haley, & your daughter Sarah! I bet our government got a Bogus Fisa warrant out on me.

I was reading the "comments" lines of individuals commenting on a speech President Trump was making two days ago and one comment was: "When are we going to be able to buy mens underwear that are made in America?"
First of all, I was moved to make some sort of reply but after giving it some thought I decided to just let him stew over his question. I feel pretty sure that President Trump had more on his mind than being "underwear Baron" that day.
I think that was the same day that Ms. Waters was listening to god. (small "g" there becuase I'm pretty sure that our Heavenly Father has given up on getting thru to her ear!
Thanks so much for your columns. They mean a lot.

Keep fighting to expose all this garbage!!! I keep praying for our beloved America that we can "survive the swamp"!!! Every time I hear your beautiful daughter, Sarah, stand before the "Shark Tank" of reporters and give such intelligent answers with such "graceful strength", I usually say out loud, "Oh, LORD! Mike must be SO PROUD of his incredible daughter!"

If Hillary and her money were behind the FISA action, it is time something was done about this wicked witch of the Democratic Party. She has lied repeatedly about many subjects and it is time she is exposed for the liar and cheat that she is.

Thank you, Mike. I agree with you and feel the frustration that every law abiding Patriot with a moral compass feels. Our government was turned into a Deep State free-for-all, with arrogance, and disdain for 'We the People.' I know we are in a spiritual battle, because God forewarned us that Good will be called evil and evil, good, and sweet will be called bitter and bitter, sweet. Satan's MO.

I am heartened my the civil, intelligent comments by many others. Liberals are like zombies with one track mind. The most uncivil, hateful group I've ever encountered.

I follow Praying Medic on Twitter and You Tube for his explanations of Q's posts. What the Deep State has done is horrendous.

Revoke black markers from all Federal employees, legislators, etc.!

Regarding your segment called "I respectfully disagree" I think you could could substitute the name OBama when you described Ms Cortez as a total novice in the ways of life and the complete lack of relevant experience in governing or thinking.

Absolutely agree with Mr Crane that the Obama administration has committed sedition. If you look up the definition you will see that taking part in activities intended to disrupt and bring down the duly established govt and laws is sedition. Riots, etc. do not constitute peaceful protests. Thugs wearing masks and destroying taxpayer or private property is not protected speech. If the police in certain communities will not enforce our laws then federal marshalls or the national guard need to be employed. Antifa and others show no respect for laws and our police often stand down rather than ensuring the public safety as their oath implies they must. Insurrection is not far away if this continues As soon as certain groups are given immunity from following laws others will follow. How are these groups much different than the KKK? Same tactics of intimidation are employed. jack

What is so sad is we Americans who voted for Trump know beyond a shadow of doubt that the Democratic Party is so corrupt that nothing illegal is past them. They will do or say what ever they need to win. They have been caught in so many lies and scandals that it is hard to know witch one is being talked about. Hopefully one day those hardworking good Democrats will come forward to purge their Party of all the Bad Apples. Then maybe we can sit down and find good solutions to the Countries problems of hate and racism.

Since I don't listen to/watch msm, I haven't heard what they are reporting about the recent shootings (because they are sooo concentrated on keeping all "news" on Russia, Russia, Russia) but, before someone goes off the deep end labeling the shooters as conservative, NRA, bible reading persons (and all the other things they come up with) I would like to know, not the names, but who the shooters are, and also--were the guns obtained by the shooters legally?

And, when it gets to "the justice department settles"--no matter which department settles --I think the settlement should come out of the pockets of those involved, not using tax payer money. Especially in the cases where they are overstepping the boundaries, making up the rules as they go along. And, the emptying of the pockets should go as high as is needed to get to the person that tells the rank and file enforcement officers what to do.

    07/23/2018 03:18 PM

How much of these recent developments do you suppose the msm is letting it's viewers know about? Probably none? That would be my guess. They are too busy being apoplectic about the Helsinki summit (because, you know, they all seem to forget the number of times previous Presidents, Democrat and Republican, have met with whomever was the Russian President during their tenure.) msm folks need to just google information before they swing from the nearest branch of propaganda they are given to parrot. Heck, even in my old age with limited techno-savvy, I can do a simple google and find out this stuff!!! So, maybe it was this am on HLN morning express (I think is the name) the gal says--it seems that Trump is trying to divert media attention away from the Russia scandal by talking about Iran. Uhm...maybe she hasn't gotten the memo to watch ANY news like: “America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars,” Rouhani said during a gathering with diplomats on Sunday, according to Reuters. “You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests.” Did anyone expect Trump to not respond? Does msm not think there are other things going on in this world than their desperate attempt to focus the US on the russia collusion thing? And, of course, never, ever reporting on any liberal who has shown to be culluding with Russia. I had to smh--he isn't concentrating on what they demand he concentrate on!!! Too bad his tweets don't include some of the misdeeds of the liberals that have come to surface. I also saw a comment from Steny H. Hoyer that says this was unbecoming of a American President. Well, just because they are used to meek and mild, bow-to-the-threats Presidents, and not to one who has a back bone.

What are you hearing about Fox News commentators being told to "stand down" when it comes to investigative reporting on democrat corruption and/or negative reporting on Dems???

    07/23/2018 01:33 PM

I don't believe that the actions of these people in our government are just a political difference of opinion. When you take the oath to serve our country by repeating "I promise to defend and protect the constitution of the United States from all enemies both foreign and domestic"
I believe these people should fall in the category of domestic enemies that are actively trying to over-throw our duly elected government.

As this entire scandal unfolds more and more, thread by thread over far to much time, it is insulting, demeaning, and treasonous to the American people what the liberals have done to our country. They will stoop lower than you and I or any truly God fearing, American loving citizen could ever begin to contrive. It must end!

I'm wondering what the argument would be for NOT declassifying this information? Who is advising President Trump not to do it, and why? Might it be because some top Republican, anti-Trump political figures were also involved? Or current members of the DOJ, CIA, FBI, etc. might be embarrassed? Are foreign agents and politicians involved (other than Russian) ... maybe even some of our 'allies?' Would the entire top-tier of the U.S. Intelligence community threaten to quit if the information were to be revealed? What is it?
