Bill Clinton says rural folks are gullible

Former President Bill Clinton took to the podium at Georgetown University, his alma mater (Class of ‘68), to badmouth political adversary President Trump for badmouthing political adversaries.

Clinton also had come up with an explanation for why Trump did so well in rural America against Democratic nominee (perhaps in light of recent revelations I should say “nominee”) Hillary.

Judge Roy Moore issues a response

Alabama GOP Senate candidate and former Judge Roy Moore has issued a response to an article in the Washington Post, accusing him of having sexual contact with a then-14-year-old girl, 38 years ago when he was 32. The woman never filed a police report or made any public accusations against Moore in any of his previous campaigns. The paper cited claims by other women that Moore asked them out or kissed them back in the 1970s when they were age 16 to 18, but the age of consent was 16. Moore flatly denies the Washington Post article, calling it “completely false and a desperate political attack.” If so, it would not be the first time WaPo has published false or misleading hit pieces on Moore.

Assault weapons ban reintroduced

In the aftermath of the horrific church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Dianne Feinstein and 22 other Senate Democrats have already introduced a new “assault weapons” ban bill. I don’t like to accuse people of politicizing a tragedy, but it’s curious that they already have a bill written and ready to go this quickly, and that it so closely resembles a 2013 bill to revive the 1994 assault weapons ban that was sponsored by…Diane Feinstein.

The sponsors admit the new law “wouldn’t stop every mass shooting,” but they say we’ve got to start somewhere.

Should you trust the media?

When you pick up a newspaper, read an article online, or watch TV news, do you trust what’s being said? SHOULD you trust it? The credibility of the media has tanked in recent years. And not just because the President fights back by talking about “fake news.” Several surveys reveal that 2/3 of Americans just don’t trust the media to give them accurate, balanced, or objective stories. Whether you love President Trump or not, 91% of news coverage about him is negative. 91%! No wonder he tweets! But it has not caused the public to love the media—they are barely more popular than food poisoning. As one who has been the target of the news media for nearly 30 years in politics, I’ve come to some simple conclusions:

Evaluating Election Day results

This week brought some major political anniversaries. Monday was the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution that brought down Russia’s Tsar and ushered in nearly 75 years of communism – and (coincidentally, according to today’s college students) starvation, poverty, mass death, oppression, aggression, tyranny and…oh yes, “droughts.” Tuesday was also the one-year anniversary of Donald Trump’s unexpected defeat of Hillary Clinton (well, I predicted it, but nobody listened), which ushered in 12 months of liberals across America and all over the media throwing a 24/7 tantrum and screaming about “Resistance” like a Bolshevik revolutionary who was told to take a bath.

Yesterday will also go down as a political date of its own importance, but with echoes of both previous events.
