Going Rogue

March 27, 2020 |

Today could be a high drama day in the House, as Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky is reportedly threatening to “go rogue” and hold up passage of the $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill. He and some other conservatives are angry that the Democrats managed to stuff so much irrelevant leftwing pork and government expansion into what is supposed to be a rescue bill for idled American workers and businesses. There are worries on both sides that Massie will prevent a quick voice vote and demand a full vote that would require members who are absent to travel back to Washington to form a quorum and cast votes.

Democrats are furious over the tactics and many Republicans are upset that their golden issue of Pelosi holding up the bill for a week while Americans suffered will now be overshadowed by one lone Republican holding it up. Look, I agree that there are many things in this bill that shouldn’t be there. Democrats tried to stuff it as full of leftist goodies as a piñata. Here’s just one example of the kind of irrelevant issues it lavishes money on that we’ll be discovering for months:

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/coronavirus-relief-package-contains-over-11-billion-international-development

It’s precisely the type of bill that makes you lament that the President doesn’t have a line-item veto. But if there were ever an example of letting the perfect become the enemy of the good, the rumored Massie stall may be it. It’s time for Washington to end the political games and help the rest of the country, which is already acting heroically without their help under incredibly difficult conditions.

Speaking of that, check out this lengthy Facebook comment by Bart Hall, reeling off all the ways that Americans are stepping up to deal with the crisis, help each other and create innovative solutions to problems in record time, either without Washington’s help or in direct defiance of pointless federal regulations. He also speculates on the possible positive effects of so many people learning just how useless, and even obstructive of progress and innovation, all those nanny state regulations are. Warning: a bit of profanity, forgivable under the circumstances.

And as always, the Christian conservative site The Babylon Bee nailed the useless grandstanding of Washington politicians perfectly with this headline: “Government Accidentally Shuts Itself Down With Ban On Non-Essential Businesses.”

While you’re at that site, you should read some more stories for great laughs to help ease your homebound boredom and anxiety. This may be my recent favorite: “Quarantined Journalist Really Starting To Annoy Family By Calling Them Racists All Day.”

My husband found the perfect saying on facebook- if Pres Trump was impeached for holding up aid to Ukraine-couldn't Peloski be impeached for holding out aid to help Americans?? gives you some thought doesn't it???

If the Democrats cared about the people they would be pushing the bill through as fast as possible rather then delaying it by adding unnecessary crap to it!

I gone through THE BILL , and couldn't digest it! It has a lot of garbage in it that some obviously thought Trump would pencil whip in order to expedite the rescue. A lot of NONE vital, NONE COVID, garbage. I appreciate all the hard work. Still trying to get my head around writing nearly 900 pages in two days?? but they did... that is what I'm told anyway. All that pork needs to go. can you saw quid pro quo, (QPQ) guess it's OK when IT'S Nancy P. and Americans dying.

Democrats think more of the party than the needs of the people they are elected to represent! They have lost sight of what they were elected to do!

Trying for a Cure...Very High Doses of intravenous Vitamin C...This is being tried in Northwell Health hospital in Manhasset, NY (in Nassau County near borderline with borough of Queens)

China Treating Coronavirus COVID-19 with Intravenous Vitamin C

Report from China: Three Intravenous Vitamin C Research Studies Approved for Treating COVID-19

Intravenous vitamin C is already being employed in China against COVID-19 coronavirus. I am receiving regular updates because I am part of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board to the International Intravenous Vitamin C China Epidemic Medical Support Team. Its director is Richard Z. Cheng, MD, PhD; associate director is Hong Zhang, PhD.

    Among other team members are Qi Chen, PhD (Associate Professor, Kansas University Medical School); Jeanne Drisko, MD (Professor, University of Kansas Medical School);

Thomas E. Levy, MD, JD; and Atsuo Yanagisawa, MD, PhD. (Professor, Kyorin University, Tokyo). To read the treatment protocol information in English: click this (Protocol in Chinese is here).

    Direct report from China

OMNS Chinese edition editor Dr. Richard Cheng is reporting from China about the first approved study of 12,000 to 24,000 mg/day of vitamin C by IV. The doctor also specifically calls for immediate use of vitamin C for prevention of coronavirus (COVID-19). See this.

A second clinical trial of intravenous vitamin C was announced in China on Feb. 13th. In this second study, says Dr. Cheng,

“They plan to give 6,000 mg/day and 12,000 mg/day per day for moderate and severe cases. We are also communicating with other hospitals about starting more intravenous vitamin C clinical studies. We would like to see oral vitamin C included in these studies, as the oral forms can be applied to more patients and at home.” Additional information here.

And on Feb 21, 2020, announcement has been made of a third research trial now approved for intravenous vitamin C for COVID-19.

I support Thomas Massie and appreciate his stand! I’m not in his district....not even a Republican! He has received more harsh criticism for doing the right thing the right way than those Dems who held this up for a week! Shame on Trump and his fellow Republicans for their criticism of Massie! We need more honorable men like Thomas Massie serving in Congress! I heard what he said. Is anybody listening?

i totally agree with Rep Massie. The democrats should NEVER have gotten away with all the garbage they have pulled in on this relief bill. Republicans should be shouting from the rooftops that the democrats are showing their hate for this country with the ridiculous pork and waste of precious funds--we the taxpayers' money--at this time. The parts of the country that are represented by the Pelosis, Schumers, Greens, etc. better wake up and vote them out. It is shameful what the democrats have done and i believe shameful that Republicans have allowed it.

Good for Massie! Why ANYONE with a conscience in CONgress would vote for anything that needlessly wastes our money is criminal. So tired of my tax dollars being wasted! Time for pitchforks and torches storming the gates!

And just exactly WHY are we, as constitutional conservatives supposed to be in favor of yet more socialism in the form of government giving away money it doesn't have and will simply create from thin air increasing inflation and taxes down the road?????
    Socialism is socialism is socialism.
This nation was founded on PEOPLE helping PEOPLE, not on government helping people or corporations.
Maybe it's time for you Mike Huckabee to review what Daniel Boone got taught by one of his constituents after he voted for the government to pay a widow out of the federal treasury.

As badly as we need the help before I would vote for the pork filled bill I'd see the bill die. It is time to stand up and be counted and stop palosi and gang from continuing to run wild over the voters. Since they have black mailed and held up a real bi-partisan bill the Republican should stand up and have the guts to say no. I'm all in for the help BUT only for the help not for the other Democratic pork padding and getting their way after they held up the bill originally, to get their pork into it.

Gov, not sure 'why' there are NO Comments, as I left a semi-lengthy thought on who was the bunnys actually "going rogue." Have checked, most of the day, but no cigar for having it appear. I did refer to that 'former' democrat party as 'demonRATS' so I may be pushing the envelope for PC and is the reason some of my comments never appear? I realize posts to your commentaries are monitored, hopefully the monitors do not include Pelosick or Scrumer.

I actually agree with Massie. We need more who are willing to stand up and fight for the American people. My prayer is that all schemes, adgendas not related to the real needs of the people, not wall street or leftist would be exposed and President Trump would be bold enough to tell the Americans the truth and veto it. Our trust is in God, and people seemed to be turning to him and away from government for help. I am blessed to see people helping people instead of tearing each other apart. We can wait a few more days to get a bill that all Americans can be proud of.

Thanks again Governor! How can we get more truth out there? For instance, the potential cure with the 2 medicines that France used. Why are we not hearing more about this? NY supposedly started using it on Tuesday! This is HUGE! Obviously the leftists don't want it to work, but isn't there creative ways to get the reports out there? We need hope at this point and not more fear.

I agree with Rep Massie of Kentucky. So far he’s the only republican with the guts to stop the liberal lefts garbage that was put into the stimulus package. If the Democrats take out the garbage I’m sure Massie will vote yes. It’s to bad the Democrats don’t really give a dam about how much people are suffering without paychecks. It’s a shame that they are trying to use this stimulus package to get their liberal garbage that has NOTHING to do with helping unemployed Americans.

Another thought about this $2 trillion bill and the additional $4 trillion the fed is injecting into the economy is that neither has the money and all of it must be printed without any commensurate additional wealth added to the economy. The the question must be asked what is the difference between this new money and counterfeit money?

  • Dennis Kelly

I disagree with shutting down business and this irresponsible Trillion dollar spending our ignorant politicians do. I am also opposed to the never ending Money Laundering schemes the Democrats stick in these bills. It is all money laundering, nothing else. The polticians are stealing from the American taxpayers until the taxpayers have nothing left.
There will come a day when the politicans will have to answer for their crimes against the American taxpayers. I have never seen such a group of criminals in my lifetime.
The United States Government makes the Mafia look like a Cub Scout troop!

I think Rep. Massie has a valid point. The fed is touted to inject $4 trillion dollars and manage another $2 trillion from the rescue bill for the various aid functions, but to fully analyze the bill, one has to follow the money. First the Fed does not have $4 trillion, it will be printed or digitized into existence. Second the money from the federal government does not exist, it must be borrowed, but the federal government is dependent on the fed buying its debt with more printed dollars, so the full $6 trillion can reasonably be expected to be created from thin air. Consider nothing was sold, no labor expended, nothing rented for these funds, it is just poof and they exist without being earned. These new dollars do not have value except for what is stolen from existing dollar denominated assets like bonds savings accounts and cash you might have in your wallet or under the mattress. This is how the wealth transfer from everyday Americans to the wealthy and connected takes place, via stealing purchasing power from your dollar denominated assets.

The total package is estimated at $6 trillion and when even divided among the roughly 330 million population, it works out to approximately $18,000 per person in stolen wealth to fund the new fiat money and each income qualifying adult gets a $1200 check? Yes in the immediate term it will likely give some relief, but over time inflation will kick in and we citizens will be paying the bill from now to eternity. Representative Massie is correct to desire a roll call vote. This is the only way to hold short sited representatives accountable for saddling their constituents with a small short term plus for a never ending burden. In Genesis 25:29ff Esau was hungry and sold his birthright for a meal. This legislation looks very similar to me.

    Mike,
I don't think that you would disagree that Pelosi is a major symptom of what is wrong with our government. As much as I also hate to see the bill held-up by a lone Republican, he is highlighting in red the problem he sees.

I was FURIOUS with what the Dems packed in the bill. I was about as low as I could go during these difficult times. Then I remembered Luke 6:30 "Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again." God will judge those people and it wont be pretty. Trust HIM.
