Prayers today for the family of one of Hollywood’s busiest actors, Powers Boothe, who died in his sleep of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles Sunday. He was 68. Boothe made a career out of playing scary villains, starting with his breakthrough role in a 1980 CBS TV movie about murderous cult leader Jim Jones. But his real life was nothing like his menacing screen image. The son of a Texas rancher, he started out doing Shakespeare on stage and was married to his high school sweetheart for 48 years. The ultimate proof he was no villain in real life: his family requested that in lieu of flowers, mourners make donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which aids wounded veterans, first responders and their families.
