The Pledge of Allegiance

January 26, 2019

I’m sure you know the poem about the person who didn’t stand up for various groups as “they came for” them, until, when they came for him, there was no left to stand up for him.  I was reminded of that when I heard this story:

The left has “come for” everything that made America exceptional.  They’ve attacked the rule of law, the presumption of innocence, the security of our borders, free speech, churches and individual religious freedom, patriotism and capitalism.  They’ve demeaned our Founders and other American heroes for not living up to their ever-changing momentary standards of political correctness. They’ve sown distrust in our free and fair elections, while contributing to it by doing everything in their power to block prevention of voter fraud and to allow ineligible non-citizens to vote, thereby canceling out the votes of American citizens.  Through “pro-choice” propaganda, they’ve even undermined  respect for the sanctity of human life.

They’ve infested, corrupted and politicized movies, TV, sports, whole government agencies, universities, once-great cities, the very concept of men and women, and even shaving razors.  Through it all, between biased mass media and angry mobs on social media, many Americans have been cowed into saying nothing, so that the mob wouldn’t “come for” them.  Is there anything left that Americans revere that self-proclaimed “progressives” haven’t yet come for?

How about the Pledge of Allegiance?

Latino activist, “Dreamer,” co-director of the Dream Action Coalition (and non-US citizen) Cesar Vargas has decided that our current Pledge of Allegiance is “deeply rooted in nativism and white supremacy,” so he’s been kind enough to write a new one for us.  Try this:

“I pledge allegiance and love to our indigenous and immigrant heritage, rooted in the United States of America, to our civil rights for which we strive, one voice, one nation, for equality and justice for all.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/disturbing-new-pledge-allegiance-key-latino-leaders-pushing/

Notice what’s in: indigenous peoples and immigrants.  No assumption that the people saying the Pledge are all Americans with a shared history and culture.  This isn’t really a pledge of allegiance to America, just to the heritage it’s “rooted in,” as if where we came from is more important than what we are now.  Notice that we speak with “one voice” (and whose is that, the government’s?), not many voices, each one blessed with the God-given right to freedom of speech.

Also missing: any reference to God.  Or the American flag.  Or that we are a republic (that might impede their efforts to do away with the Electoral College and the 10th Amendment.) The word “indivisible” is gone, since dividing us is how the left achieves its power.  And of course, “liberty” is gone (that’s like Kryptonite to the left; allowing people to think they can do what they want without the government okaying it is outrageous!)  It’s replaced with “equality,” which would be fine if it were equality under the law, but we know they don’t believe in that.  They do believe in equality of outcomes as dictated by the government, and a less American idea is hard to conjure.

The only thing that really survives is “and justice for all.”  But coming from the people who invented the concept of “social justice,” that’s a sick joke.  We know that there is nothing "just" about their definition of “justice.”

Throughout all of the left’s assaults on America’s traditions, morality and institutions, I’ve spoken up to point out their dangerous folly, and I’ve been willing to take the brickbats for it.  But this is the line in the sand where we all should speak as “one voice” and say, “No!  You will NOT ‘come for’ the Pledge of Allegiance!”  We stand for the Pledge, and we will stand up to defend it, too.

And to Mr. Vargas, and anyone else who dreams of becoming an American, try starting with the best lesson ever given in what the Pledge of Allegiance really means (Hint: it has nothing to do with “nativism” or “white supremacy” or any other currently fashionable leftwing buzzwords.)

I've already taken two oaths to defend and protect this country against enemies foreign and domestic, once as a Marine and then as a Police Officer, so I again say NO you shall not replace my pledge OR my constitution!

Hey Mike, There is a lot of "racism" out there. I have one for you: It is "Racism" to NOT support the NRA. Anyone who does NOT support the NRA is a "White Supremacist" (even if they are Black) because the NRA was started by White Abolitionists to help Blacks protect themselves from the KKK (and others). Thanks. Bob

"Justice For All", will have to include deportation to "All" individuals who have broken our laws through illegal immigration. Nativism? The USA was not called USA, neither it was a "nation", until it was proclaimed in 1776. It was a huge territory up for grabs in the New World, after its discovery in 1492 by Columbus. Mexico was conquered by Spain in 1512, and it wasn't a nation then, but an Aztec Empire centralized in what's Mexico City today. Mexico got its independence in 1810, under Hidalgo, but it was officially a country until 1823. So, instead of trying to criticize the USA, they must start with Mexico. Spain robbed the natives of what is now Mexico infinite amounts of gold and other precious metals and stones. They destroyed their religion and killed countless souls. The British settlers CREATED A NATION and stayed here to form the greatest, richest and most prosperous nation in the world, even as young as it is. Our Constitution, based on the 10th Commandments has been virtually adopted by the rest of the democratic world. The USA is what it is because of what has done in the past by Freedom-loving. God-fearing people, not by what will do under the liberals. Changing our successful past will bring a failed future.

I love you, Huckabee! It is so good to hear a voice of sanity in this corrupt world. I am at a loss as to how to mourn for all we are losing. I will fight to my dying breath for our Country. I know I am one voice among many. God Bless America!

Mr. Huckabee, unfortunately I think you're right about Americans ignoring or denying the Left's assault on all of our tenets for so long. Mr. Trump rallied us to stop these trends in 2016, but the left-leaning mass media has the ear of too many. Besides writing Op-Ed pieces for newspapers, and hoping Jesus returns soon, what can honest America-loving citizens do? There are too many RINO's (Republicans In Name Only) in the House and Senate (as witnessed by their recent weak-kneed vote to end the federal shutdown), the Democratic Party is corrupt, and the owner of Starbucks who wants to run for President does not inspire at all.

Mike, we are at a crossroads. We need to be united against all the crap being thrown at us. We need honest media, honest responsible government, and most of all, WE NEED GOD. I fear a foreign invasion in the near future which will mean the end of America. After all, God used heathen nations against His chosen people several times because the Israelites refused to follow His laws. Why should God spare America from.the same fate?
We allow same sex marriage, we murder out unborn, we fornicate millions of times a day. We make jokes about the Savior of the world and His Holy Father. How were people in Sodom and Gomorrah or in Noah's time any worse than we are as a nation?
I pray for God to intervene, but fear how He will do so.
I appreciate your column and thank you for it.

Yes....Pray Hail Mary’s and Our Father’s. Deliver us from evil and pray for us in heaven. The angels can come to our aid. We need to take our country back from Satanic hands.

I'm with you, Mike! Simply believing God is on our side is not enough. Remember the drowning man who turned down a life preserver, a rowboat and finally a helicopter, insisting God would save him? If we want to save our country, we have to stop the forces working to take us down.

I, for one, love the original version of the pledge of allegiance. I am old now but I still remember putting my hand over my heart and facing the American flag while saying the Pledge of Allegiance. It meant so much to me and still does. There is nothing wrong with it. Why do people want to change everything our wonderful country stands for? After all, America was founded on the principles of God and they want to take him out of the Pledge. Makes no sense to me unless they are all athiests and that's another thing for another time. Keep up the good work Gov. Huckabee in getting news to us that we might never hear otherwise. From a lady that feels warm and fuzzy when she hears or reads the Pledge of Allegiance.

Got to watch your show last nite the hour went by fast I enjoyed it. I also watch Mark levin last nite I will get to that. I have commented about how our history and civics are no longer a focus in our schools and it shows I have also wished for the pledge to come back if nothing else a reminder of how we should live in our country I also think a reminder of the 10 commandments is essential not because of a religion because it is a corner stone to the pledge as one nation under God I believe if the two of those concepts were adhered to Gee what a greater nation we would be. I think I hit the nail on the head with my thoughts of Robert Mueller (ex KGB) just when I could not think it could get worse I was exposed to Andrew Weissmann and Mueller the two of these now makes sense as to why the FBI DOJ is so corrupt we had the deck of cards for Sadam It is time for the deck to show, starting with Obama as the Ace of Spades Just like Sadam we have to start to discard these criminals get them a new address and a couple of jumpsuits these people are not fit to be Americans.

I am sick and tired of everything concerning allegiance to America being turned into something evil. When in fact it is the Demonicrat party that has taken it's "Useful Idiots" to an evil place. My mother and grandfather came here after being POW for the duration of WWII. They spoke several languages, they were educated and they were registered, monitored and given physicals. It took them close to nine years to get their citizenship and they were proud to pledge their allegiance to this country.

We have to have people who are dedicated to this country, our way of life, our culture and respect our Laws and our Constitution otherwise, what do we become? Just what we are seeing, bad citizens and we have millions upon millions of them.

With all the sad and criminal things going on in our country, it is quite refreshing to see someone tell it like it really is. They knew what they were talking about when it was written that greed would be the ruination of man. These are very sad days for all true Americans .

Very well said. I agree completely. Our country once loved for what we stood for is no longer recognizable as the Great USA. We have fallen down, been kicked around, and bloodied but WE are never out.

Thank you for your always righteous commentaries.
I wish—that America didn't treat the Declaration of Independence as a worthless rag. It is the spirit of the law and is our one document that people, at least, are somewhat familiar with. It declares our rights come from God. People think our "rights" come from the Bill of Rights and nothing could be further from the truth. Natural Rights Manifesto, by the James Wilson Institute, org, says it so succinctly.
"We never had the right to do wrong."
    Amen.

If people JUST understood that separation of powers means SCOTUS can. never. write. law.
Then they would laugh in the faces of Roe v Wade and Obergefell.

But, no. No one in the church, who I know of, teaches the principles of our Christian heritage, with the exception of Dr. D. James Kennedy, who has long passed. The saddest thing ever, was the watch the silence of the church across America, when Kim Davis went to jail.
Had people been the least bit educated or truly passionate about saving this country, instead of moaning without doing, then they would have known that no law that does not pass the muster of the "Law of Nature and Nature's God" (Natural Law), is a legal law; but is pretended legislation.
Not to mention that pesky truth staring us in the face, which we ignore, that there is no law called Roe v Wade. It is in the records as an opinion, and can be none other. The same is true for Obergefell. There can never be a law allowing sodomy and sexual perversion to define what was sanctified and blessed by God. Neither conforms to the standards/laws of God.

God help us. I am glad you are out there, speaking and writing. I would have voted for you for POTUS in a nanosecond. God bless Trump! He is our fighter, but he seems to miss golden opportunities. I wish someone would guide him, through his continuing choices for Cabinet, who are globalists and Military Industrial Complex globalists and hawks, his poor choices of Ivanka and Jared, his ignorance of the Declaration and its power to slap each branch of government in the face and force change back to His standard. He could have taken down the 9th Circuit on the first E.O, as they have no right to hear immigration cases (not in Art. III), and he has every right according to the Constitution and the 1952 Immigration law, to do what he did and he could have continued, had he had the righteous persons in Congress to impeach the 9th. He could have broken them up and didn't. So many missed opportunities. Sigh.

    God bless you and yours.

    Dear Gov Mike,
It interests me how much we perceive and think alike. Our common faith in Christ and loyalty to the USA probably account for much of it. Also, a willingness to speak the truth from the heart, even when genuine free-thinking is often no longer tolerated.
Please keep speaking up as you do. You (and your dear daughter) have my deep respect.
    Yours in Christ,
    Paul (Wm. Paul McKane, Montana)

Left wants to take God out everything. Our nation has been so richly blessed by our Father in heaven. When you turn your back on God,the consequences are terrible. We are one nation under God. We believers must stand strong for our nation in the face of the ones seeking to destroy our nation and our freedoms. Thank you for your voice Mr Huckabee.
