If you listen to the mainstream media, you’d think that Trump’s Oval Office Address on border security Tuesday was a disaster, and we should all listen instead to the wise adults, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, who assure us there is no problem with having a porous border and somewhere between 11 and 30 million people residing in America illegally with more flowing in every day. Seldom has the media narrative been more at odds with public perception, and I’m not just talking about all the memes ridiculing how Pelosi and Schumer looked.
After more than two years of hyperbolic, 24/7 anti-Trump media coverage, viewers who don’t keep up closely with politics were primed to see that the Oval Office had been taken over by a ranting, crazy, hateful, incoherent, Hitler-quoting monster. Instead, they saw a President who seemed to be thoughtful, soft-spoken and compassionate about the terrible toll that an unsecured border is taking on both Americans and the people risking their lives to sneak in, but firm and resolute about forcing his political opponents to work with him to solve it. That was such a disconnect from what the media’s been telling them for years that it made it hard to believe anything else they had to say (and considering their transparently partisan - and preemptive - attempts at “fact-checking” him, that was a wise choice.)
Meanwhile, Pelosi and Schumer not only looked like the (barely) reanimated corpses of Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor at the beginning of “Green Acres,” they also came across as people who cared far more about protecting illegal aliens and government workers’ paycheck than protecting Americans from drugs, criminals and terrorism. They never gave a single reason why they would rather keep the government partially shut down than spend what to them is sofa cushion change on a border security wall that they’ve previously endorsed and funded at far greater levels.
So don’t believe the predictable media narrative that the Democrats won that debate. Here’s what they’re trying to ignore:
Last week, a Politico/Morning Consult poll found that 42% of Americans believe there is a “crisis” at our Southern border, and another 37% think it’s at least a serious “problem.” That’s a total of 79% who believe something needs to be done about border security. Only 12% think it’s neither a crisis nor a problem. Schumer and Pelosi might have looked like something Dr. Frankenstein manufactured in his lab, but only 12% of Americans swallow their claim that border security is a “manufactured” crisis, no matter how many times the media parrot it for them. And this poll was taken before the Tuesday speeches!

Want more proof that the media’s desperate pleas to “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!” are falling to persuade Americans?
Here’s an article by a DACA recipient, pleading with the Democrats to stop being so stubborn, build the wall and work out a deal with Trump so he and the others who were raised here can stay in America.
And here’s how you know the Dems have really crashed and burned with their pointless, transparent, partisan obstinacy: even notoriously Trump-hating Hollywood liberal Cher is telling them to give in and fund the wall already! When the Democrats have lost Cher, the game is truly over.
