The latest Rusmussen poll shows that President Trump’s approval rating among African-Americans is 29%. That doesn’t sound too high, but it was 15% a year ago.
If you think that trend is terrifying high level Democrats, they’ll need a change of shorts after hearing this: AFL-CIO union president Richard Trumka declined to rule out endorsing Trump’s reelection. Trumka said he was concerned about “growing wage inequality” but that “we will consider every candidate who’s running in 2020.” He didn’t mention that under Trump, wages for lower income workers are growing, while the worst income inequality is in California, a state run by the same job-killing, far-left policies that would be instituted by the kind of liberal candidate the AFL-CIO usually backs.

The Tennessee primary
By Mike Huckabee
I don’t go into detail about every state race, but Thursday’s GOP primary for Tennessee Governor is worth your attention. The winner was underdog Bill Lee, a conservative businessman running against three well-funded and better-known political veterans, Rep. Diane Black, House Speaker Beth Harwell and former state economic development chief, Randy Boyd (full disclosure: I endorsed Boyd.) It was a contentious race with up to $40 million spent on the Republican side, too much of it on attack ads. As recently as last month, Lee was down by double digits in the polls, but he surged at the end, possibly because he was out touting his Christian values while the other candidates were attacking each other.
Let’s hope this campaign convinces other Republicans to keep their races civil and save the punaciousness for their real opponents in November. I also hope it convinces people to stop putting so much emphasis on polls, but it won’t.
In Tennessee, all the Republican candidates strongly aligned themselves with President Trump, but he didn’t endorse any particular one (Mike Pence did endorse Rep. Black). However, Lee is probably the most like Trump, and Tennessee voters must like that, because Trump carried Tennessee in 2016 by 26 points.
Lee will square off against former Nashville Mayor Karl Dean in November, and as expected, the GOP candidate for Senate will be Rep. Marsha Blackburn, facing Democrat and former Gov. Phil Bredesen.

From "The Jokes Write Themselves" Desk
By Mike Huckabee
From the “The Jokes Write Themselves” Desk: President Trump’s longtime nemesis Rosie O’Donnell plans to lead a protest Monday by gathering a group of Broadway actors in Washington to belt out show tunes toward the White House. Naturally, the program will include selections from “Les Miserables,” because what could make for a better analogy to the free, peaceful, booming American economy under Trump than the oppression and starvation of French peasants in the 1700s? I have a feeling that passerby will mistake it for a free show rather than a protest, although if Rosie does most of the singing, the Secret Service might treat it as an attempted assault on the President with a deadly weapon.
Two questions immediately come to mind:
1. What do Broadway actors have to protest about? In the first year of Trump’s presidency, Broadway grosses shot to an all-time record of $1.637 billion, $270 million above the previous year. Attendance also shattered the record, even though the average ticket price rose by $15 to $118 (greedy capitalists!) As of this spring, box office receipts were up 20% from the previous year’s record. It appears that the longer Trump is in office, the better Broadway does, possibly because people finally have jobs and hence, money to buy tickets. They should be standing outside the White House singing, “Thank You For Being A Friend.”
2. Isn’t “Les Miserables” the musical about an obsessed, out-of-control inspector who wastes years and who-knows-how-much money trying to hound a man into prison because he stole a loaf of bread two decades ago? If I heard someone singing that in Washington, I’d assume they were protesting Robert Mueller.

Feinstein staffer spy for China
By Mike Huckabee
Another one of those “under the radar” stories that you were probably not supposed to know about, and didn’t for years. But it sure makes all the Democrats’ hysteria over a pointless 20-minute Trump campaign meeting with a Russian look, shall we say…a tad overblown?

Pastors face partisan pressure
By Mike Huckabee
I told you about Pastor Darrell Scott, one of several African-American faith leaders who recently met with President Trump. Afterward, he praised Trump as "pro-black" for his sincere efforts to help minority communities. That is demonstrably true – for instance, black and Hispanic unemployment are at all-time lows, and Trump is actively pursuing prison reform, which Obama ignored – yet the pastors are now facing a backlash from liberals for saying it.
Well, of course, they are. When it comes to actually helping the minority community or preserving the liberal narrative, the narrative wins every time. How dare they “normalize” a Republican President by saying he is doing more to help African-Americans than the Democrats did? (Abe Lincoln.) Imagine a Republican President doing more for black education opportunities than Democrats! (Dwight Eisenhower.) We all know that Republicans want to put minorities into prison camps (Franklin Roosevelt.) Come to think of it, the liberal narrative on how Democrats are the real protectors of minorities’ interest isn’t so much a narrative as a fairy tale.
A big salute to these pastors for standing up to the partisan pressure. I’m sure they will find comfort in the words of John 8:32, that “the truth shall make you free.”

"Huckabee" preview
It’s Sunday, time to relax, grab a refreshing beverage and kick back with a brand new episode of “Huckabee” on TBN! I’ll talk to former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales about the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination and what it’s like to be the target of unfounded partisan attacks and investigations. Author and TV host Armstrong Williams will discuss racial politics under Trump and other important issues. You’ll meet Linda Sobiech, who lost her teenage son Zach to a rare form of cancer, but not before he wrote a song that’s gone on to inspire millions. I'll also have the astounding magic of YouTube sensation Justin Flom. Top it all off with the music of country music legend T.G. Sheppard and his wife, singer-songwriter Kelly Lang. All that and more surprises are coming your way tonight at 8 and 11 EST (7 and 10 CST) on TBN.
