Our prayers and deepest condolences today for the family of Mollie Tibbetts, the University of Iowa student who disappeared last month.  Police arrested Cristhian Rivera, 24, who led them to her body hidden in a corn field.  The sickening details are at the link.  Rivera is an illegal immigrant from Mexico who had been doing farm labor in the US for several years.  His employer claims that they check workers’ legal status and that Rivera passed the government’s E-Verify system.

This story has once again thrown the consequences of lax immigration enforcement back into the news.  But don’t let the media take the focus away from where it belongs.  By the time the Kate Steinle case had played out, the innocent young murder victim was practically forgotten while her accused killer had been rebranded as the victim of unfair immigration policies.  Now, yet again, an innocent young woman with her whole life ahead of her is dead, killed by someone who never should have been in the US if the government had been doing its job of enforcing the law.

I don’t want to hear a lot of sob stories about the poor, misunderstood guy who brutally murdered her.  To keep faith with the real victim and her grieving family, let’s stay focused where we should be: on dealing with the killer, finding out how he was able to be here so long without detection or removal, and how to insure nothing like this ever happens again.

Or like this…

Or this…

Or this…

Or this…

Governor I want justice for Mollie. The murderer is in custody admitted his crime. He doesn’t deserve life in prison. He needs the death penalty. It’s very easy to be an arm chair quarterback and say no to the death penalty. However the killer’s action is a threat to you, me and all society because other killers will have no fear to commit the same crime. We need judgement executed speedily.

The Wed., Aug. 22 edition of the (Fort worth, TX) Star-Telegram gave a 2-column 4-1/2" space on page 14A to Mollie's story. Of course, Cohen was spread on the front page in large letters; Manaford also on front page.

Why is it the rhinos don't shove this in the face of the jackasses? WHY is it the rhinos do not OVERWHELMINGLY support my President and the building of the wall? WHY is it the rhinos are doing NOTHING to enforce current laws? WHY is it the rhinos are doing nothing to get rid of sanctuary cities? WHY is it the rhinos keep SUPPORTING sanctuary cities and the jackasses who support them? It sure seems like the rhinos must be getting some sort of corrupt cash from the jackasses. EVERY poll I see shows that Americans want a stronger border and stronger immigration enforcement by 3 to 1! BUT the rhinos and jackasses, as usual, ignore what our President and the majority of Americans want! The days of the "people" in DC working FOR the people are sadly gone forever!!!

Hello Governor. As a grandmother I am distressed that my intelligent, articulate grands are often unable to think through current events. I am a retired paralegal and value logic. With every talking head putting a clever spin on every story, people are muddled! How I wish our schools would teach young kids how to reason. Thank you so much for helping us understand and explain the simple truth. God bless you and yours and, especially, Sarah.
