My commentary on the FBI’s shocking raid on Roger Stone’s house (“Is This Really America?”) prompted quite a few responses, and one in particular is a must-read –- at least this part of it, which especially touched and saddened me...

From Jean R:

My mother and father were in concentration camps in Germany, having been yanked from their homes in Poland. After the war, my dad wanted to go home, but it was a disaster, and the British and U.S. encouraged him to come to America since he had relatives here. He also had two children –- my brother and me (I was born after the war) –- and he wanted a better life for us. So he embarked on the legal journey with nothing much but papers and the promise of a new life...It took over four years to get everything in order.

I bring this up because during my entire life my father would talk about the tactics the Germans used. If my father were alive today, he would tell you that Mueller is just like the Gestapo of World War II. He is the Gestapo of America. This behavior from the Mueller group is despicable and beyond comprehension to a free society.

Even worse, that our Republican politicians are not fighting the Democrats with every bone in their bodies defies common sense and reason.

I can't even believe that I would write these words. I have loved America from the day I arrived here as a 4-year-old, and my heart is saddened by what is going on and deemed acceptable by at least half of the society. I also hope and pray that my great-grandchildren may be the generation that says ENOUGH and stops the downward spiral of our country.

...I want to know: when is the party that says they stand for the people and America going to stand behind the President, united against all enemies foreign and domestic?

From Laura:

Thank you, Jean, for writing. I can’t imagine how sharply it must hurt to see America turning in this direction, given your family history.

What we of like mind need to do, I suppose, is become more involved in the Republican party, instead of just complaining about the people who are in it. That’s hard for me; I’m the sort of person who tends to stay on the fringes of groups, especially when it comes to politics, but I need to fight that natural reluctance and get into the thick of it.

As you say, it defies common sense and reason that Republicans aren’t fighting this with every bone in their bodies. Really good candidates have GOT to run for office, people with conservative values who care vitally about civil liberties and are ready to do some heavy lifting. I don’t know where they’re going to come from, but without them, we’re through. And we need them soon --- if we wait for our great-grandchildren to decide to fight, wow, that’s a long time. There’s no telling how bad things might be by then, and it would be preferable if they didn’t have to fight a bloody revolution to free themselves.

Probably the best thing for me to do is continue using the power of the written and spoken word (as you have with your eloquent letter), in as many forums as possible so as not to just preach to the choir. In public discourse, we’re being run over by enraged idiots, but we simply must not be bullied out of standing up for the America we believe in. Some are sadly resigned to the idea that America is over, and it might be. But if enough people speak up and refuse to be cowed, it just might survive. Maybe this nightmarish far-left wave (which is hoping that we’ll just stand there impassively and let it crash into us) will turn out to be like “New Coke,” or “Hillary for President”; that is to say, a huge mistake that will be realized and rectified before it’s too late.

It used to be that I was “in the closet” about my political beliefs, writing anonymously, but now that the left has officially hopped the train for Crazy Town, I often step out and sign my own name to my commentary, and I proudly wear my #WalkAway t-shirt for all the Democrats to see. (As I live in a huge metropolitan area, that’s a lot of Democrats!) I also try to be a voice of reason for my friends who vote Democrat, and some of them actually listen.

And when people compliment my fragrance and ask what it is, I’m not afraid to say, “Ivanka Trump!” (It actually is. Hey, it turns out you really CAN smell the Trump support! And it smells good!)

These are small forms of self-expression, but important, I think. We’re being intimidated, and that’s the plan the left has for us. It doesn’t take a heavily-armed SWAT team swarming onto our lawns to do that to us –- in many cases, all it takes is the anxiety that someone might call us “racist” or “deplorable.” Let’s decide not to care, and keep fighting back in every way we can --- with reason, courage, humor, and truth.

Thank you! I've been referring to Mueller as "Major Mueller of the American Gestapo" for some time now - essentially, ever since Paul Manafort was arrested under similar circumstances ... and now Roger Stone. You know, at some point, these kinds of tactics are going to backfire. Some people are armed, and in a "home invasion" situation, they are going to start shooting without asking questions! Unfortunately, most Jews who were arrested by the Nazi regime (and sent to death camps) put up no resistance at all. Some (like in the Warsaw ghetto) did fight to defend themselves. They eventually were overrun, but they made the Nazis pay a high price.

Laura, it's OK to preach to the choir. We just need to remind them to stand up and sing.

    Mike,
I am one of the fighters being discussed and I beg and plead with you for us to start a masaive grass roots effort to get us fighters elected into the house or senate. I at least ask we start a group and I offer my services as God's servant to help lead the way to fight the far left radicals. We need to emphasize how Ms. Cortez's taxation plan is down right stealing in God's eyes. Please we need your massive connections to launch God's army, let us put on the armor of God to fight these Liberal Satan owned Liberal Democrats.

Well said... We are in a very crucial time for our country..
I believe the next 2 years will determine what kind of a country we are going to have..
We must get involved to save our country... I don't know what I can do to get involved, but I know I must..

Herr Mueller’s Gestapo tactics reminded me of many of the scenes Eric Metaxas described in his biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, when this country’s FBI stormed an alleged white-collar criminal in a manner similar to the way innocent Jews and others who did not embrace the Nazi party were arrested in Germany in the 1930’s. This action scares me to death. If I did not trust in my Lord and Savior, I would be in deep despair.

That's what I see too much of--people, and that is including many of our elected Republican officials, who are so afraid of the left calling them absurd names that they just let the left (laughing all the way) take over America. All the name calling is so ludicrous because they are used often, and loosely. I do hope that President Trump gives all of our elected officials the incentive to stand up to the left. This would include probably more Democrats in Congress than we know of--who aren't really on board with the nancys and chucks, etc of the extreme left, but are afraid of maybe losing DNC funds? Seems they could come up with a NEW, IMPROVED type of organization that would back the moderate or even slightly left Democrats. Of course, they wouldn't get the big money that the unions and soros, etc give the DNC. Maybe the DNC should be investigated--big time, and all involved with meddling of elections, etc, be prosecuted.

I want to know, too, Jean! My heart grieves as our beautiful America is being disrespected and destroyed! The hatred that is spewed at her — at those, like our President, who stand to protect her. God bless our President, and God, please bless our America! She needs You! We need You!

Okay I want to challenge you with personal action and a question. Firstly you say you read these well prove it Mike... respond to my question and that is what the hell happened to our two party system? Why is it that this president has few in his own party supporting him. We should not forget that Mitch McConnel could have allowed a Senate vote and this President could have gone on to build the wall we need. But the Senate leader refused sighting a political environment problem .. bullshit he sold this President out. So prove my cynical brain wrong and right back to me at [email protected] with your answer about the Republican Party.

You make me feel guilty that I quit writing my own blog because I began feeling helpless and defeated by the relentless negative energy of the left. Only a few dozen people ever read it. I didn’t work too hard at promoting it. I think 100+ may have looked at it once or twice.
But I suppose you’re right. I can lay down and be part of the problem or I can stand up and fight back even if it’s in a small way.
www.60andnotnaked.com if you’re interested. My niece made the name up one night at a bar in Frisco, CO. I can assure you there is no nudity or pornography on the site. (Twice I did get hundreds of hits from China, which may or may not be funny.)

I too was shocked by the raid and felt it was out of control . We have watched in our neighborhoods the SWAT team etc take down a drug house and we cheer them on. Neighbors work with them to get these houses shut down before it destroys us and our way of life.
This is scary, beware that knock on the door in the middle of the night. It could be you and with trumped up charges against you. Must we all hide now and pray. What is happening to our country? God help us all.

I am also saddened by what is happening in the country I love. My father's parents were legal immigrants from Sweden who came here. My grandfather came first, after working and saving up enough money, he sent for my grandmother; his love. They settled in Des Moines, IA. They were so proud to take the citizenship classes. They had two fine boys who grew up and fought in WWII. My father, their youngest son, was even at the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He lost many friends who were on the ships, while he was on the island. He was with Marines for 35+ years, then he was with the Army Reserve for 30+ years. I was taught to respect America, her anthem, her pledge, her citizens, her military both active and veterans. I remember how proud my grandparents were when one of their grandchildren learned the pledge of allegiance. They would say it with us and even helped us learn it. The were PROUD to vote, salute flag, BE AMERICAN. They had their sons speak English so they learned it better. 'We The People' need to REMIND THOSE IN DC WHO THEY WORK FOR! WE need to FIRE those who are repeat offenders of treasonous actions against this country, people, government. I AM thankful for ALL the freedoms I have, it saddens me that my children and their children to come will not enjoy the AMERICA I grew up with. Eventhough I remember practicing the drop and cover in Elementary school in case of bombing; ALL I remember is the freedom/happiness I had around me as I grew up. Neighbors all watching out for each other, RESPECT for the President and the Office he held, RESPECT for all military and VETS, RESPECT of ALL LIFE, Preserving Unborn Babies Lives, etc... May MORE reporters turn to your type of news writing and start to show Americans the Resolve, Strength, Courage, Respect, and Love for America. God Bless you and may you be successful in reporting like it really is.

As much as I understand Jean R's angst, I strongly disagree with her comparison of Mueller to Nazis.

"Godwin's Law" says the longer you discuss any issue, someone will compare it to Hitler, Nazism, or the Holocaust. A corollary to Godwin says whoever makes that comparison, loses the argument. Stone's arrest was, indeed, over-the-top and excessive. But to compare it to the murder of 6 million people is wrong.

If we are committed to "Never Again," we must be sure we don't compare the horror of the Holocaust to a political squabble.

Never seen swat teams allow media up close during a raid where they brought long guns . Usually they clear the house/apt on each side of the site , block off streets etc. Here was cnn mixed in with swat , you can bet it was for a media event set up by Mueller's gang

I no longer recognize my America. Like your writer, I was born after the war to a family who had been part of the armed forces serving in WWI and II. My Grandfather fought the Kaiser during the first war and my Dad served in the Pacific Theater during the second war. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran and I have an uncle who is both a Korean/Vietnam Veteran. I was raised reading our nation's history and visiting the historic sites with my family.

Now I feel under attack. I have a MAGA hat I can't wear because of my age and my fear of being attacked by the radical, depraved and godless liberal fanatics. My husband and I do not go to venues where there will be large crowds. I had a bumper sticker on my car for McCain/Palin during that election. The day after the election, after Obama became president, my car was vandalized in his name in a secured parking garage!! My freedom of speech except on blogs, FB and the internet has been compromised and FB will soon probably block all conservative and Christian speech.

Do I feel disenfranchised? Yes, I do. My Senators from Virginia (Tim Kaine and Mark Warner) do not listen to my concerns and being both DemonRats they vote the party line and do not have the ability to reason and to be logical. Governor Northam, MD here in Virginia is also a DemonRat and supports the late term abortion law that is being enacted here and many other states. By spilling innocent blood they place our nation under severe judgment.

I yearn for the America I grew up in, a kinder and gentler place. It grieves me that my younger children and my grandchildren did not get to experience it. I have read our history and I have lived 3/4 century of it (well, getting very close to it). I understand that this process began before my birth, before my parents' births. That does not make its transformation of our nation any less painful.
